With that said, what would Purdy bring in a trade?  Not much in my opinion.  His deficiencies have been exposed.  And as such he is more valuable to the 49ers than to any other team … largely because of his rookie contract.

If you aren’t sold on Brock long term then the priority has to be getting your long term solution at Qb. 49ers may finish 10th. If they love Ward or sanders and can maneuver up i think they’d take the chance to acquire him.

I think a team who’s in a transition year would take a shot on Brock purdy. Heck the jets make a trade with the niners it makes sense that purdy goes back to the jets so they have a veteran Qb for 2025 . I don’t think its much return probably a 4th with likely the ability to reach a 2nd given conditions. I could see a team hoping Brock pans out for them like darnold did with the Vikings.

imo the niners biggest concern is long term at Qb. Either pay Brock an outrageous amount or maneuver up for a QB if you love sanders/ward and sign a veteran to start next year and eventually be replaced by sanders in 2026. Gonna be pretty toxic letting Purdy play out that contract and not getting a deal done and then following offseason likely middle of the first round (maybe even back half) without a Qb in place in 2026

Purdy has 1 year left not 4 with a 5th year option. Much more enticing if you love sanders/ward to have a better prospect with 4 cheap years (5th year option) and higher upside then Purdy with one cheap year with limitations.

We will have to agree to disagree.  The Niners biggest concern is the trenches on both sides of the ball.  QB comes after that.

You just ride him for one more season and then move on.

Biggest concern is what they are doing at the future of QB position. They have nothing in place after 2025. I can fix the oline with FA and drafting guys 2-7 rounds. They literally either have Brock going forward or nothing. Having my franchise Qb settled going forward is huge especially if they love sanders/ward and believe he can be their guy for next decade.

So what’s your plan in 2026? literally have nothing in place. With Purdy likely picking middle to end of 1st if you fix the oline. So great for 2025 then stuck in purgatory of either overpaying Brock or having to maneuver from a worse spot in the draft to get a QB. Makes more sense if you are picking top 10 and can maneuver to get a Qb you love that can be the Qb for the next 10 years that you do it. Again their oline hasn’t been great outside of Williams for a few years now.

i really doubt if the niners think shedeur sanders/ward is a future all pro QB and can move up to acquire him will say we can’t do it we have to fix the oline.

you are also assuming they can’t do two things this offseason. Like maneuver for Qb, draft an olineman in the 2-7 rounds and also sign one in FA. Also niners have a boatload of guys injured and IR which will help coming back in 2025

Not sure about that.  He just got a top QB in the transfer portal and the #1 or #2 QB coming out of high school. 

 

hopefully pickett plays better after a week of practice

Seeing Dean hurt again is discouraging.

There will be some really good LB prospects available in RD2 and RD3 in the 2025 Draft to pair with Baun for the future.

Want to see Dean be the guy. He flashes greatness at times attacking the RB or QB downhill. But then there are games that he just looks lost out there in coverage or gets swept away by blockers.

Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

If they love Sanders and/or Ward then what is the cost to them to get high enough in the Draft to be able to actually have one of them on the Draft Board when they pick.  I would expect that will be no lower than Pick #3.  To get from Pick #10 to #3 would mortgage their future.  Taking a QB in the 2026 Draft after addressing the O-Line is the much better use of resources.  Dropping a newly drafted QB into the currently toxic culture is not wise either.  Both Lynch and Shanahan are too smart to make that foolish of a move.  They know that a player refusing to go into the game is just the visible part of their toxicity iceberg.  Deebo Samuel’s is a mess.  CMC may never play again.  It is time for a reset.
