If I’m New England i really rather face the chargers than bills in that WC round. Chargers flying across country, likely very cold and a bad oline. Bills just went into foxboro a couple weeks back and beat them.

I was going to go another way with this. Your love for him is quite odd.

Yeah, I'm routinely on here breathlessly defending Jalen Hurts. That's me.

Go argue with one of his fan boys, there are a few. I'm the realist who knows that we can't cut him, can't trade him, and his contract makes him our QB through at least 2026. This whole conversation is a complete and utter waste of time based on his contract.

Plus, one thing you can count on is Justin Herbert crapping his pants in a big game.

Not surprising that there's already argument over McKee's results in a game that hasn't even been played yet. Hopefully he plays great because he's on the Eagles and novel concept I root for players on the Eagles to do well

Do you have the capacity to accept that Hurts can be a great QB and still have a few flaws?

Do you have selective memory?

When Hurts misses a throw I say it in the blog.

I crushed his performance vs NY and the Chargers.

The Chargers game is a great example. You have to also acknowledge that AJ was pathetic in that game and that Mailata/refs stole a TD.

I thought he should have run on the 2nd play from scrimmage (I was not in the lets not have the QB run today planning session)

I treat Hurts like any other Eagle.

Baun cost Philly the Thanksgiving game with a simple interception drop. All in all he is still a great player.

Baun is not a focus on 40 plays a game so the bad plays will be far less.

DIckerson and Cam are great players. They are horrendous this year (probably due to injuries)

Why would I need to attack them foaming at the mouth for every single missed block?

This is my team.

Why do others need to foam at the mouth when our playing better than Pro Bowl Darnold QB who also runs like Josh Allen makes some mistakes?

Lots of what I do is to compare Hurts to every other QB. I don't pretend he is the best (Allen is)

I like that he is 2-0 vs Allen ( 1 on a comeback GWD and 1 on not screwing up)

I though Lamar was better last year and over 2022-2024. Lamar fell off a cliff.

I knew Mahomes was the best through age 27 QB so he was better. He is a shell of himself now.

I think Hurts is the 2nd best QB in the NFL right now not because he is Joe Montana or Tom Brady or peak Manning.

Its just because all the other QBs are worse.

Would I like him to get better? Sure. Give me 120 rating 35 passing TDs 3800 passing yards and enough runs to scare the D and get some scores.

He is 27, of course he should continue to get better.

Does he miss some reads? Sure

Does he miss some passes (wow, the DeVonta miss in NY was really awful)

Those are rare and far less than other QBs.

What is with the obsession for some to hate great players on their team?

Patullo is different. Siri is different.

We can all clearly see them undermining this great organization.

They don't do all these great things on the field.

They don't bring in the players.

Their job (especially as castrated CEO and HR violation best friend promotion HC OC combo) is to not get in the way.

They are always in the way.

Sure, I'd love some Fangio and Moore innovation but just stop being anchors.

Can you see the distinction?

Best case is he lights it up and that means we can move him for real value this offseason. I don't love having a hole at backup QB, but we can't extend him since Hurts' contract guarantees he's here next year. Trading Hurts after 2026, if that's what we chose, still has $84mm in dead money, so likely still has to be post June 1 to split it up. Cutting him is $106mm -- you'd have to post June 1 that and take a big 2028 hit.

Add in Lurie's affection for Hurts, and it's unlikely he's going anywhere until after 2027 at the earliest. Which means you would lose McKee for nothing after 2026 (maybe comp pick, depending on the contract). If a team misses on a QB in the draft, McKee might get you a 2nd.

You should also know this about me if you have been around long enough. I hate lies and propaganda.

I will defend Tom Brady over BS witchcraft allegations just like I defend Hurts.

I don't like Brady the person and I respected him as a player but was not a fan.

My favorite picture of TB12 is him sitting on the turf after BG.

I will get into arguments over propaganda fools who think a videotaped walk through of the Rams that never happened means there was also one for the Eagles 3 years later and that Brady stole a game that was clearly lost by Belichick forcing McNabb to beat him but McNabb was weak and soft and awful.

I will also point out that Manning averages a net TB 12 points in Super Bowls if anyone tries to lie about Manning being better than Brady. And that he has 5 SB TD passes in 4 SBs. 3 to his team and 2 to the other team.

Its not really about Hurts. He's going to keep winning without me saying a word. Its about the lies and hatred from weirdos.

This week's likely lineup:
QB: McKee
RB: Dillon, Shipley
TE: Calcaterra, Granson
WR: Dotson, Cooper, Covey
OL: Pierce (PS), Kendall, Toth, Pryor, Fred Johnson

DT: Robinson, Byron Young, Ojomo
DE: Uche, Hunt, BG
LB: Trotter Jr., Mondon
CB: Ringo, Bennett, Carter II
S: Brown, Sam (signed to 53)

DC just lost another OL.

Biadasz just went to IR

At what point can McKee look all world dominant and you guys stop finding Hurtscuses for why its not the same? McKee has only ever looked elite. Offense looks completely different, and bad with Hurts in. But theres always an excuse. No one could ever actually give credit for McKee doing amazing with all backups. Instead, its still excuses for Hurts.

My feeling is that there is a strong chance McKee can be a good NFL QB but at this point he hasn't played a single snap in a meaningful game. We won't know until he's under pressure by a hungry team for four quarters in a real NFL game that means something to both teams.

Good grief. Half their roster is either on IR or like 57 years old,

This is what the Cult wants. 💩

At what point in his 6 TD game did he not prove that he was better than Russell Wilson.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FlynMa00.htm

Flynn won 2 games the rest of his life.

Wilson is fading now in his late 30s but he is at 121 wins and 9 playoff wins and a Super Bowl win.

Wilson has been to more SBs than Rodgers or Marino.

If you just look at the play design youll see a difference that has nothing to do with who they are playing. Same goes for watching the timing of the throws, decision making, and accuracy. Youll see things out of McKee that Hurts isnt capable of, and youll see things in the offense that you havent seen all year.

You only have to go back to this year's pre-season to see it again. It has nothing to do with the opponent. The scheme fundamentally changes with a legit QB playing.

Youll even see WR3 targeted! Very exotic concept.

It all looks great until you get punched in the mouth a couple of times after the D coordinator has had a week to prepare for you. This is just 101 level NFL knowledge. You need to see the QB perform in real live meaningful games before you really know one way or the other.

I think Bigsby and Campbell will play at least while Detroit is in their game

I forgot Mondon existed. We are so spoiled to have great LBs.

That does not happen here too often.

Is Makuba out for the year or what ? I haven't seen many games this year

@vikas83 Lurie also has an affection for winning.

They moved on from Wentz because he was a cancer but he was also 17-21-1 since the Super Bowl

Foles was 4-1 in 2018 vs Wentz 5-6.

He broke his leg in late November maybe?  I don't think he will be back.

Oh damn.

So, decided to take a look at how we can manage this offseason with our cap situation. Starting with ~$20.4mm in cap space per Sptotrac, cutting Michael Carter gets us to $29.3mm. Then I do 4 things which net out to a cap hit of around $1.6mm.

  • First - extend Jordan Davis with $100mm of new money for 4 years, making his total contract 5 years, ~$113mm. This reduces his 2026 cap number to $5.7mm, adding $7.2mm in space.

  • Second - extend Jalen Carter with $100 million over 3 years, on top of exercising his 5th year option for $25.6mm. Total contract is 5 years, $132.5mm by rolling in the last year of his rookie deal at $6.9mm and his 5th year option. He still gets $33.3mm per year in new money. Makes his 2026 cap number $6.5mm, saving $400k.

  • Third - resign Phillips for 4 years, $100mm. $6.2mm 2026 cap hit.

  • Fourth - resign Reed for 2 years, $18mm. $3mm cap hit

This would leave us with ~$27.7mm to fill out the roster -- need CB2, TE and depth on the edge for sure. Dean walks so Campbell can play. But this all can be accomplished.

Damn. Good stuff.

I have a question though - would you resign Reed or just let him walk and draft a new safety instead ?

I'm always surprised how many posts I read on here that the Eagles can't keep Carter and Davis. Not only can they, but I've always assumed they will. The debate to me is a Dean vs Blankenship -- personally, I think Blankenship is a little better than 'meh' and I'd happily move on, but I understand the money considerations.

Based on how Vic talks about him and his leadership, I think they bring him back if the cost isn't out of control. The secondary is VERY young, so having him back there likely helps.

I think they’ll keep Blankenship. Dean has been good but not durable. They have a history of letting those guys walk although that history has been mixed as Hicks and Sweat did well
