Lake has become a really good player. He may be better than Blankenship. Not sure Blankenships deal has to top that. And still an average of about 12M a year like Lake got will be a tiny cap number the way Howie does contracts.

Kinda like the Eagles in last year's Super Bowl? Hurts certainly didn't suck but the Defense was primarily responsible for that win. There was no defensive player that was head and shoulders above the other defensive players so as per previous Super Bowls the winning QB was MVP. I don't care enough to go back and look but I'll bet over the past 10 years the winning QB was MVP 6 or 7 times.

It should have been Bday boy…Hurts was great, but it really should have been DeJawn.

Cooper did have a pick 6 though that was a game changer

It was essentially over at 17-0

NFC has been wide open for years. There's been more competition in the AFC for a long time now

Teams have been carried by defenses before. Eagles 2024 success was the defense, Oline, and Barkley

Wide open in what way? 49ers have gone to two Super Bowls, Rams have won a Super Bowl and many see them as the best team in the league this year and they gave the Eagles their toughest shot in the playoffs last year. Not to mention the Lions had a little run there of being one of the most dangerous teams in the league. Even during this timeframe of Hurts run, Tom Brady was in the NFC and not the AFC.

The "competition" in the AFC during this time has been the Chiefs who Jalen Hurts has a winning record against and played great against in two Super Bowls. Even the other teams, the Bills, Bengals and Ravens he has been undefeated against as well.

Teams have been carried by defenses before? Which ones have carried an apparently completely irrelevant player at the QB position to at least 3 Super Bowl appearances?

Peyton played in a stacked offense his entire career, played till he was 39 and didn't play in his 3rd and final Super Bowl until he was 39. Jalen Hurts has a real chance to play in his 3rd Super Bowl at just 27 years old. Not a lot of QBs have gone to at least 3 Super Bowls and those that do don't go this early in his career, except for two.

I spot checked some guys that went to at least 3 Super Bowls and the youngest ever to do it was Tom Brady at 27 years old. Jalen Hurts has a chance to get to 3 at 27 years old tying Brady and Mahomes for that.

Brady 27

Mahomes 27

Big Ben 28

Elway 29

Aikman 29

Bradshaw 30

Montana 32

Kelly 32

The Eagles aren't the first team or even the only team in the league to have a talented roster. QB has the biggest impact on winning and losing and the Eagles have a historic young winning QB. If Jalen makes his 3rd Super Bowl this season then he is an automatic to the Hall of Fame.

Peyton Manning played in 4 SBs. Two each with Colts and Broncos.

So, it appears that the teams getting the bye in the college playoff are about to hit 0-6. Wow.

I understand the money in it…but I’d love to see the neutral field removed for these games. Home game wasn’t saving TTU though.

Well look at it right now. 49ers are in because of a weak schedule. The Rams somehow lost to the Falcons and dropped big time

The AFC competition I was thinking of was before even Mahomes

I never said "completely irrelevant player at the QB position" so you're just going to an extreme because you felt Hurts was insulted. Freaking Purdy has been to the SB..

Letting Reed go leaves a massive hole at S. I liken him to Mikkel, you really don’t realize how good he was till he’s gone for a lot of you. I think they make a push to keep him. If the money isn’t right, the money isn’t right…but he won’t walk without a decent offer from Howie. He’s the glue piece of the DB’s IMO. Solid fundamental team player.

Purdy is a top 13 QB in the league.

Rams somehow lost to the Falcons? I don't think there is a team in the league this year that hasn't lost a game to a bad team, except for maybe the Broncos.

Before Mahomes? Like before Mahomes career started? What relevance does that have to do with Jalen Hurts level of competition?

And you giving an extreme opinion of acting like it would not be a significant achievement of all time greatness to make it to 3 Super Bowls, especially to do so at only 27 years old.

2026 will be our year, guys! We will win our 3rd Lombardi!! We seem to do better in even numbered years. groovyflex

You absolutely are when you are trying to say there is some higher level of competition in the AFC. A Conference that has only seen 2 teams go to the Super Bowl since Hurts has been in the league while the NFC has seen 4 different teams.

Carson Wentz vibes.

@FranklinFldEBUpper good job hitting on the Cameron Williams being activated. I expect he winds up having a "injury” during the game so they IR him afterward. But I’m excited to see what he looks like. It’s against a poor commanders team down a lot of guys but it’s nice to be see where he’s at going into the offseason. Also where they play him like we discussed. Feels like OT for this game though unless Pryor and Fred johnson are both suiting up

Not only do they stink out of 13 personnel when they run but they are also super predictable at 87% run

I’ll take him over Calcaterra!

I was never talking about only since Hurts has been in the league. Your mind is just stuck on that for some reason

What in the world is the relevance of that point then? How does it diminish the incredible feat it would be if Jalen Hurts takes this team to a 3rd Super Bowl because the level of competition in the AFC before Jalen Hurts entered the league was better?

It doesn't make any sense.

Purdy, Dilfer, Rex Grossman.
