Pittsburgh teeing up Renegade to get the crowd into the pick only to have Howie steal it is pretty hilarious.

I guess I shouldn't get too down, there's a lot of good safties left for tomorrow.

Nuss approved.

I’m bummed we lost out on a couple of fourth round picks. With the depth of the TE class there was gonna be a good one there to double dip.

I suspect we will trade down from our later 3rd in to the 4th and pick up a 5th as well.

I wanted MW but he will be long gone by the time they pick unless they give up a 3.

Given this I guess Howie had Lemon above Freeling on his board, who knows about Proctor. But he said the only one they projected in the top 15 to not go top 15 was Lemon.

Even if Dallas outright lied to the Steelers and said they were picking someone that’s still not a crime. They’d have to have pulled back a turned in card and I don’t think that’s even possible

PFF has him listed as a corner, would he be a safety ?

Yes

Now I guess the only question left is since he and Smitty both wear # 6 - whats Lemon gonna wear now ?

We're saving that for Abdul Carter. ph34r

I think the Eagles are hoping Lemon will be in the Nacua/St. Brown style of WR, likely not as prolific but he’d certainly be a volume target along with DeVonta Smith. Wicks and Goedert would be in the 3rd/4th target discussion. This pick makes me wonder exactly where Hollywood Brown fits into the offense. Not sure he’s fast enough anymore to be a serious deep threat.

I’m still hopeful the Eagles can get a good TE prospect in this draft. EDGE would be a likely Day 2 target as well.

Going to be disappointing if we go another year without ol in the first 2 days.

May not be if they plan to trade for Greenard. But you can never have enough pass rushers, we'll see who's available. I'm hoping they trade McKee for a day two pick.

Round 1 · No. 20 overall

  • Production Score: 91

  • Athleticism Score: 65 (estimated)

  • OVERALL DRAFT SCORE: 83

Add Lemon to the growing list of value selections GM Howie Roseman has pulled off in recent years. The former Trojan is now the fifth Eagles first-round pick over the past four drafts to appear in this exercise, following Jihaad Campbell in 2025, Quinyon Mitchell in 2024, and Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith in 2023.

Lemon's 91 production score is the third-highest by a wide receiver in the last five draft classes, according to the NGS draft model. At 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, Lemon reportedly ran a 4.50 40 at his pro day, but his game is more about polish, separation and reliability than pure long speed. As NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein put it in his scouting report, Lemon is "quicker than fast" and a crisp route runner, which helps explain why he makes sense in this offense. And with A.J. Brown’s long-term future still worth monitoring, the Eagles could view Lemon as the new complement to DeVonta Smith in their passing attack. Lemon should provide an immediate boost for Jalen Hurts, who averaged just 6.7 yards per attempt targeting the slot in 2025 -- the fifth-lowest mark in the NFL.

Lemon was one of Kiper's favorite picks

Philadelphia Eagles

The pick: Makai Lemon (No. 20)

If you've followed my predraft preview content and listened to me on the "First Draft" podcast, you know I absolutely love Lemon's game. I had him as the No. 11 prospect on my board. He's a true baller who attacks the ball in the air and creates after the catch, finishing eighth in the FBS in receiving yards last season (1,156). What a fit in Philadelphia, too, who appears to be on the verge of trading A.J. Brown to the Patriots. We knew the Eagles were probably going to target a receiver, but I didn't think Lemon would still be on the board this late.

I gave the Cowboys props for the trade, so I have to mention the flipside here. But given the value of the prospect and the clear need on the not-so-distant horizon, I think it makes sense for Philadelphia, too.

There it is, right there. Simple as that.

Eagles front office are no dummies. The don't get everything right, but they get a lot of things right.
