I figure next year, there will be room to draft a X replacement for Wicks - not in the 1st as we’re getting really painted into a corner at tackle but still an upgrade.

I need JT Clark in UDFA. Hes probably better than every WR next year too. If he can be healthy, we will be set at X.

The eagles draft a wr in the first 2 rounds whose talent and upside are questioned with, at best, a mixed and rationalized reaction.

When was the last time this went anything but terribly? We are going to pretend this is the first time we’ve seen the start of this movie?

Davonta had questions about his upside. Would have probably preferred the RT who was taken right after him but it’ll be fine. I trust them more to draft and develop an OLineman later than I would a WR.

Most important thing I want to say before the draft...

Howie does much, much, much better in the draft when he drafts with confidence in his staff to develop players with unique traits, and upside. He consistently hits it out of the park with those picks.

And his safe picks? The "you can't hit a home run every time, this guy is a good football player who will go down as a decent pick.".......Howie swings and misses on those types. He does.

You can't hate me for being disappointed. This is EXACTLY what they did with the pick. To the letter.

If the Eagles don’t go OT tonight then it becomes an absolute must draft next year in round 1. Might be anyway.

There is no OT that they should take today.

With the rumor of 2027 to be one of the best QB drafts in many years and Jalen's easy out contract, I would bet on QB as our round 1 next year.

A year to go but all things considered it would seem we will in the buyer’s market next draft for a long term RT and having two first round picks to allow flexibility in getting our guy.

Love to see some of my guys got in to round 1. Chris Johnson really was CB2. And Malachi Lawrence belonged as well.

As much as I liked Rutledge, I didnt know he was getting all the way up there. In the end, Rutledge even got ahead of Dunker.

Nice IR stash if he’s still playing ball.

Yeah. This just wasnt the draft for it.

If the want the massive, former TE on day 3 that makes some sense. Theyll have him and Williams from last year both developing. And if theyre not ready in a year, theyll have to draft one high.

They had the 23rd pick in a very weak draft. Do I love the pick? No. But I never expected to given the lack of exciting prospects and where we were picking.

I agree. The other option might be at QB if Hurts can’t evolve and they decide to move on from him. Can’t address both in the same draft if we want the top guys on the board.

I think you're underestimating Lemon because he's not big or fast. He might be the best pure WR in this class IMO and these high end route runners translate to the NFL better than guys who are just speed or size without refinement. This isn't a "safe low upside pick". He's one of the most productive WRs taken over the past decade.

It appears Howie and Lurie are flat out done with stagnant offense.

Seems like there will be no sacred cows. If you are contributing to the offense sucking, you will be replaced. Including QB.

That’s encouraging

Everything you just said applies perfectly to Devonta Smith. I just wish I could agree that it applies to Lemon, which I don’t think it does. I don’t see how 1,100 yards makes him one of the most productive WRs over the last decade.

Also, I prefer high end speed from my wr corps. We all have our preferences. You have to understand my disappointment in a significant commitment for the next 2-3 years to a Smith/Wicks/Lemon wr corps. That’s going to be one of the slower WR groupings out there.

And don’t give me Hollywood Brown. Your wr corps doesn’t have speed if your speed wr isn’t good and isn’t utilized.

Coming from green Bay I expected Mannion to focus more on speed at WR too.

Maybe they still draft someone like Benson later and Hollywood doesnt make the team.

Going to be disappointing if we go another year without ol in the first 2 days.

Most of the good ones seem to be picked over, not the deepest most quality o-line draft either. They need to continue to go BPA and not reach.

My dream would be a trade up for EMW and a trade for a veteran edge being one of Highsmith, Herbig or Greenard.

What hurts me is next years draft is loaded with Olympic burners.

Well ... they passed on Jefferson and Metcalf for those same reasons. We instead drafted Reagor and JJAW because we were scared to draft the higher rated, more productive prospects that had questionable "upside."

Was drafting DJax and Smith terrible?

I'm also a HWS guy but that's because neither of us know anything. Those are binary numbers that we can understand and compare to others. But there is so much more to the evaluation that you or me don't really have the skills and experience to evaluate. It's just silly to do this barrage of 10-15 woe is me posts when you don't really know anything. When the Eagles go way off consensus, I think we can fairly lambast the pick in real time because then they're also going against the wisdom of consensus. But that's not what happened here. So its fine to be disappointed but keep some perspective here.

Smitty is still a vertical threat, but Lemon + OZ seems to be a formula to open up the field horizontally.

Some of you are so miserable!! Lad doesn't drop catches, makes plenty of yards after contact, pretty quick and a great route runner. Aj is off but this is a great acquisition. Cheer up

Looks like most not some these days, and even if he ends up being a Smitty type they will out of spite still say bad pick.
