Overall I like the draft. Knew it would be offense heavy but not quite this much.

A lot of teams seem really high on Lemon so I’m optimistic he becomes a consistent 1,000 yard receiver. None of the WRs in round 1 really wow’ed me. I think I liked Cooper a little more but we’ll see.

I thought they’d go for a a guy like Stribling, Bell, or Boston in round 2 and take a RT in round 1.

My biggest mystery is how high is ceiling for Bell? Having that mammoth be the future RT would be a huge asset.

I’m meh on the Stowers pick. Is he Ertz or LJ Smith?

He's an even more athletic Mike Gesecki. Ex QB who can out jump everyone and run faster than half the WRs. Just absolutely bonkers measurables for a TE. Can't block for crap.

So really it depends on how he's used/developed. Jimmy Graham level receiver potential but a lot has to go right.

I know its way early and this will obviously change, but damn that's a lot of players.

Is there a world where you line him Up as the X in some sets?

Personally i would go 11 personnel and dare them to cover him with an LB. But then what do i do with Lemon?

If we go 4 wide Hurts is going to get blitzed relentlessly

22 TEs drafted this year. Second most ever. Clearly the league is valuing them highly right now. 🤷

I see no one drafted that kicker Jeffery Murphy who can kick them from 70 yards. Wonder if we’ll bring him in now. I believe we were at his pro day

Honestly? No clue. I love the players individually but how they all fit is anyone's guess right now. All I know for sure is it'll look a lot different than last year.

the 10.1 YAC average led all TEs.

I know it's early to say, but you think he makes the roster? I'd love to see Calcaterra cut. If this guy works out along with Mundt, Stowers and Goedert it's a revamped TE room.

Yes, particularly in bunch/trips formations. He’s not ever going to be a true WR, but in certain packages you can try to get a mismatch where he’s out jumping a corner or used to block on a screen.

The D is improved with CB2 and an actual high tier edge rusher. Safety is a question, but overall the D is improved. Thats big.

The offense can be. We just dont know what its gonna look like yet. How are these new guys incorporated, how is the OC, and how does the QB play? We can only get these answers once the season starts so, lets go. Cant get here soon enough.

We didn't have a true closer at Edge last season, like Reddick had been. Grenard should be that guy. Also looking for a second-year bump from Campbell, Makuba, and Robinson.

Offense has enough talent. It all depends on the coaching and QB.

The SB 52 winning TD was Ertz isolated on a CB in a 3x1. Stowers could be a unique weapon as a receiver.

Using how the draft unfolded with 20/20 hindsight and ignoring inconveniences like butterfly effect. What would’ve you done?

I might have done Thieneman, Jacas, Delp… But that path doesn’t lead to a premium WR prospect, ignores to some degree the Greenard trade and really precludes bringing in a OT project of any interest. 🤷‍♂️

Not saying i could have done better. Just saying how I feel.

If the goal of the draft was to get cheaper on offense, knowing you needed money for the young defense, while still addressing some needs on defense, then I give it an A+ 🤷

And we are going by the value of the talent they got in relevance to what was available id give it at least a B+.

If they all suck then in hindsight it’ll be easy to crap on but, that doesn’t mean they were necessarily bad picks. Just because you lose a bet doesn’t mean it was a bad bet and vice versa.

My metaphor...They brought the right shopping list to the Draft store, but the store didn't have the highest quality products available.

Pregnon only good pick

But what GM is going to get up there and say” we missed on almost all our guys. Really got outdone by other teams…”

Of course no GM will say that, but I think what Gladstone said was different from your typical GM speak. He’s saying they mapped out their 11 picks pre-draft (ended up with only 10 picks) and all 10 were correctly predicted. It’s a fairly arrogant thing to put out there, and it seems generally bad that they beforehand they were able to predict those 10 guys. It makes you think they were aware that they were going to reach a lot. It makes me think that no one dropped into their lap that was a good value. Maybe they just had incredible intel predraft but to go 10 for 10 seems highly unlikely without feeling like you’re gonna reach to get your guys.

People need to throw away the concepts of X/Y/Z positions with a Shanahan/McVey type of offense. The whole scheme works when the 5 skill positions are versatile play makers. Coaches can run the same personnel to line up in different formations or the exact same formation but the positions are swapped. The position isn't the player, the player is the position.

My metaphor… they had a meal they wanted to cook, but the grocery store was out of certain seasonings, so they went with similar seasonings that might not actually pair well together.

Has Pavia still not been picked up yet? I get he’s not an ideal prospect but this feels intentionally disrespectful

That’s not true at least with McVay. He wants an X who can win in isolation and against press. That’s why he went out of his way to get Odell Beckham and Allen Robinson and pushed out an aging slot like Cooper Kupp for Davante Adams.

Can Lemon be more than a slot receiver, can Stowers be more than F type? These guys aren’t all 6’2”, 210lb and fast. If anything they appear to be specialized, not interchangeable.

Unfortunately I don't think media gets to watch rookie camp so we won't get any intel from that next weekend

Yeah, I think earlier on McVay probably fit my description better, but he's changed his philosophy. Idk if better QB play has a bigger impact here, going from Goff to Stafford can definitely change the way you make the offense go.
