How about the four verticals on the last play against SF?

Didn't the article say the Hurts camp admitted that he suggested it?

That's a wild turn of events

Don’t think the plan is set. It will depend on his play in 2026. If he plays like 2024 he’ll be signed, if he plays like 2025 then I don’t think he will.

While I don’t disagree with your premise, Smith was a non factor until the final two months (I’m including playoffs in those two months).

Edit: now that I’m all caught up I see they picked up his 5th year option. Shut up, it’s been a crazy few days.

Again, there are post snap reads. It’s not just reading at the line and adjusting, especially in their offense

Thats a fair point of criticism. But as far as running bad plays into bad defenses when your QB has no chance to change the play, that's on the OC.

Could trade Smith for a quality Safety. Was thinking you need at least 3 solid DE's and that Hunt or Smith won't be re-signed so he is the replacement for one of them.

I toyed with the idea of a 2027 second rounder. Still tough to pull the trigger on that. Smith coming back with time away from the injuries, this should be his best season yet. Plus he's such an awesome personality, I'd hate to lose him. But I can't see all these guys on defense getting extended so maybe you cash in on one of them now rather than playing the comp game later and best case scenario is end of the round 3rd, if you can get a much better pick in a strong 2027 draft such as a second, you have to contemplate it at the very least.

I could see it either way. It did sound like Stout may have been talking about Hurts and his bad reads but you are correct that it’s not easy to read and adjust to a defense when you have like 3 seconds left.

If Hurts is checking into bad plays that much then it would be on the coaches to correct it anyway. You can’t complain a guy isn’t doing what he’s told or learning what he should and then do absolutely nothing about it.

Effin penguins

If Howie plans to sign Simmons at safety and Mekhi Becton at back-up guard/tackle following May 1st deadline for FAs not counting against comp picks, we’ll have a good roster.

To be honest irrespective of Lemon I don’t think Cosell’s track record judging how college talent will translate has been all that good. He has a lot of football knowledge obviously but it hasn’t meant much

Yep, there is a reason the best he can do is "work for" a couple of washed up clowns that nobody cares about in Mosher and Caplan.

That is the type of stuff you hear after a team makes a terrible reach on a pick. I can sniff it out from a mile away.

The Flyers have played like dogshit the last two games. No urgency, no physicality, and I have never seen a team full of guys who are more afraid to shoot the FN pick than them. They are in serious trouble.

How do you have a tumor in your head that big and not know it? Back in 2009 my mom had a golf ball sized brain tumor removed. It was blood tests that made them do the scan that found it but after the fact she said months prior to the scan she felt a bump on her head.

That’s mean but probably accurate.

ultimately none of these guys has to own up to their rankings the minute the draft is over

He's better at breaking down schemes and being able to put it into layman's terms. Love listening to him during the season.

You guys know that in this clip he’s saying he really liked Stribling, and that it was a 35-year NFL coach who said he liked Stribling over Lemon, right?

That was the interesting part, not Cosell liking him as a prospect.

Yep I got that. Just saying I’ve been listening for many drafts and I don’t think his opinions have been all that predictive

I think they win Wednesday. Game winning goal was flukey(though they should have been physical with Crosby rather than letting him set up shop behind our net for 30 seconds). Just a gut feeling, but think we win. Regardless, Carolina will smoke both the Flyers or Penguins in the next round.

A few things I think would help:

Crash the net relentlessly, take runs at their goalie, bodies bodies bodies in front of the goalie and shoot shoot shoot.

Stop tossing the puck out of the defensive zone to waiting Penguins. It gives the them a chance to load up with space and get all 5 guys through the neutral zone with speed- we won the first three games in large part to very solid breakouts that created scoring chances. We have to get back to clean, dangerous breakouts.

If we have better breakouts we'll have more opportunities to carry the puck into the zone. It will eliminate all the terrible dump and chase sequences from tonight because they were rarely in position with speed. It would also make them less predictable entering the offensive zone. If they breakout well both dump and chase and carrying the puck into the zone will be more successful.

Win a crucial faceoff!

Pre-emptive 😠

The Flyers need to get the lead and tighten the noose around the team facing elimination. PIT has had it easy with 2-0 leads and have scored some lucky goals, still only winning these games by one goal. PIT hasn’t really accomplished anything yet but survive.

Game 6 at home is the one the Flyers have to have, and I agree I think they’ll get it done on home ice. The Pens older nucleus is going to wear down, if the Flyers make them play from behind. Needs to be a high energy game and get contributions from three lines.

Stribling is actually a very good replacement for Jauan Jennings. Same big body and both block their asses off. Both do the dirty work. Stribling is much fater than Jennings. I can see why SF drafted him #33. No other team would have done that. I am surprised nobody has signed Jennings.

My guess is his brain isn't very big.

I'm gonna be rooting so hard for AJ Brown to fail if he does end up in New England. Very few players have ever worn out their welcome quicker than he has for me.
