Lawrence is a NT though and had a bad elbow. Carter should be outperforming him when it comes to stats.

23ish is usually a dead zone in the first round. All 1st round graded guys are usually gone by then or close to it. If not, all the ones at positions you really need. That's prime trade up or down territory.

That is strange with the Stafford stats. Of course Hurts is not better at reading defenses than Matt Stafford - anyone with eyes can tell you that. Maybe it's because Puka has turned into an absolute freak of a receiver, on another level above both Brown and Smith. Not feeding him this much would probably hurt their offense.

I get it, and you'll never hear me suggest Hurts is a great passer. I've said over the years he will never be a top passer in the league. We know what he is, and his ceiling that we've seen so far was 2022 (he actually had more pass yards in 2023 but had a ton of INTs). He is capable of a lot of things as a passer though, and deep pass is one of his strengths. He's also made great audibles that resulted in big plays or TDs, which means he read the defense well. He has strengths and weaknesses. Good coaching needs to play to all players strengths and weaknesses.

Of course Stafford is a better pure passer than Hurts, I wasn't trying to twist stats to suggest otherwise. Rather, I was showing that simply the stats don't communicate the narrative always. My main point here today has been that if you have 2 stud WRs of course they're gonna get the bulk of the targets. And you have a really good TE in Goedert and a great RB in Barkley. So the 4th receiving option (3rd WR) isn't going to have many targets...which is true on most teams. Especially teams that have two 1,000 yard receivers.

Hurts isn't a great passer, isn't going to go through 3-4 reads and spread the ball around. But, he's got 2 stud WRs and a reliable TE. They've got to 2 Super Bowls and made the playoffs every year. When he's forced the ball to AJ to keep him happy, people complained the offense suffered overall. So what works for the Eagles is feeding the best receivers and a dominant run game with a healthy O line. I think Eagles fans care way too much about a 3rd WR getting targets. Now, when there's injury you want guys to step up and I think they've added good depth there. Dotson was good as well when needed. It's also normal for a QB to be comfortable with players. That's why you see QBs go to new teams and then the team signs a WR from his former team. Peyton Manning had Stokley in Denver, who he played with in Indy. Announcers and analysts talk about how a QB having a familiar target helps them, and they also talk about having too many changes at WR can hurt a QB even top passers. So it's not a bad thing if a QB has 2 great receivers and he throws mostly to them if the offense performs. And as facts show, most #3WRs get roughly the same amount of targets on teams that have a top WR. The teams that don't have a stud guy, they have a bunch of average to good WRs and they spread the ball around. Some of that is coaching, and some of that is lack of top talent at WR.

We're about to find out when they trade AJ Brown and have Smitty and Hollywood as the top receivers, and if Mannion prefers the offense to spread the ball around. Meanwhile, you like to spread your balls around in peanut butter and then find a racoon out in the woods to lick it off you!

I am not there yet but the other day, my VPN/Bitdefender told me I have 23 devices on line. I will probably hit 30 in the next few years and by the time I check out from the mortal world, I won’t be surprised if it’s 50. I do worry about lost skills and knowledge from so many devices doing it for us.

Last year was the most blind I have ever gone into a draft. This year even more blind. Looked at a very small amount of WRs. No fun in looking into offensive lineman. If anything in this final week I think the best bet for me to look at a position group will be TE since I think they would get someone from that group after striking out on landing one last year.

After 5 minutes of research, Nate Boerkircher is my favorite TE for the Eagles to land. He can become Gronk in the NFL.

That is it for my draft research this year.

Borderline gross. I am pretty much out on taking Iheanachor, Miller, or Lomu at 23 as I feel like it is reaching to fill a need. If we can't get Proctor or Freeling I REALLY hope they pivot. I just don't see it with Stowers. He's a lesser version of Sadiq if Sadiq also couldn't block at all which isn't the case. Hurst is fine.
