I haven’t had this talk with anyone yet, but I’ve thought about it every time I saw it. Nothing really impossible happened in the movie, it was just really dramatic.

  1. An owner calling the day of the draft and forcing his his GM to trade up for a player he wanted on a whim is very Al Davis/jerry jones. Wouldn’t happened in today’s more analytic NFL, but we’ve seen dumb stuff like that in the past

  2. GM defying the owner and taking someone else with the pick the owner forced him to trade for would immediately get you fired, that’s probably the most ridiculous part of the movie

  3. Jaguars(?) traded a top 10 pick for 3 2’s, that’s not totally implausible

  4. Then Seahawks traded draft assets back for the guy they almost took 1 overall because they saved a bunch of money (back when #1 overall QBs got top 5 at the position money). That was very dramatic and probably would never happen but it did make sense how they constructed it

So in the end Cleveland had the 7th-ish overall pick, got 2 top 10 picks in exchange for 3 2’s. That’s perfectly plausible

Seahawks got their guy they would have taken anyway but saved a bunch of money. Weird, but made some sense

Cardinals lost a top 10 pick but got 3 2’s, it may actually be a little light on compensation but it’s not terrible. have to show the Browns are the good guys and won that one

Then the whole side story where the browns wouldn’t take the QB because on draft day they found out he didn’t have a lot of people at his birthday was just Hollywood stuff. It was an overdramatization of the stuff that does go on on draft weekend

I think the movie would've been better if it was set in the 60s/70s/80s - where you can imagine/romanticize a lot of wild stuff happening because there were actually a bunch of salty GMs that didn't give af about outside perception and the owners weren't nepobabies or Josh Harris types along for the ride (and again the RB and LB selections wouldn't have raised an eyebrow).

I'd take Highsmith maybe even over Greenard. That should solidify edge.

I'd take Herbig, always liked that guy.

Berman is of the opinion A.J. Brown didn't dog it last season on routes; I guess he missed the Niners game. Amusing exchange in here about whether Brown is a "great" teammate or not. Off the top of my head, I can think of 4-5 big plays last season that Brown left on the field, either through lack of concentration, losing a step, or missing his 'give a damn' bone.

The host's repeated question about what happens if Hurts doesn't play well this season is also funny. If not, he's gone. Either in the immediate term or surely after 2027.

They should do a sequel where Kevin Costner gets into a blood feud with a cutthroat GM who’s clearly a carbon copy of Howie

"Sonny, you have 8 hours to get me the draft capital I need, or your team is done.”

DRAFT DAY: CONTRACTION

I wonder if Eagles would want him involved in the Brown trade

With trading AJ Brown, would you rather add (assuming quality players)

Another WR

Edge

Safety

O line

TE

Other?

I'd rather a quality starter level Edge.

Of course we had the wrong brother again. Always happens.

If the trade ends up going down, the pick haul will be substantial, but the potential negative ramifications could also be substantial.

The glass half full view is: Eagles replace him with a collection of WRs, they place the production by committee using a new offense that spreads the ball around, and an overall better offense and scheme just makes the offense function overall better.

The glass half empty(which is IMO the more likely scenario) is replacing great players with a collection of JAGs is not that easy or seamless, the offensive transition to a new scheme also won't be that seamless, the QB isn't as good as he used to be, the offense will still suck because defenses will now game plan solely to take Devonta out of the game, and this all ends with Hurts being traded and Sirianni being fired.

You want your team to get a worse deal in draft picks, a weaker roster and team, because you're tired of the media talking about it?

A man can't have feelings???

I'm still on the he doesn't get traded bus

I’m on the fence that it was just created by her and he doesn’t actually want traded

Can't see Howie settling for a 1st in a draft two years away especially when 2027 is supposed to be loaded.

Apparently he's not available

I can see this actually happening. Howie is basically Sonny Weaver IRL

So basically its a win - win

Bummer.

here is a TE who can block I have never heard of

Here is some Raridon blocking.

Hes so balanced as a prospect. And one of the younger TEs who are actually good. Hes way up my TE rankings.

Apparnetly Stowers is even faster than his combine time.

Iheanachor vs top competition
