Your next sentence 'remains to be seen'. "Chomping at the bit to get the ball out quick" has never described Hurts. Quite a few mobile NFL QBs are what I call "chicken salad" QBs. They look to make chicken salad out of chicken S, but the scripted play broke down because they didn't get the ball out, so they made their own chicken. I think Hurts falls into that category too often.

He is a good QB, has won a lot, and has had to be incredibly adaptable while continuing to win. He has an excellent track record. Nit pick him all you want. Eagles are 60-32-1 with him at QB. But, I'm sure the response will be but but but talent around him.... Rams in same period are similar, Detroit with talent hasn't done sh.t, Dallas with great offensive talent is a nothing burger, Chargers, 49ers, Buffalo... Hurts deserves the benefit of the doubt, especially by fans of the Eagles.

I think the answer is Reggie White in terms of talent. I believe Jason Peters has 6 All-Pros as well. Lane Johnson has 5 and should be ahead of Kelce in terms of talent. I am not sure how you can leave Brian Dawkins off of a top 5. I think top 5 in terms of peak performance at their position are:

1. Reggie White

2. Jason Peters

3. Chuck Bednarik

4. Brian Dawkins

5. Lane Johnson

Maybe Cooper, Q, or Carter will start collecting them over the years

Peters only has 2 first team which is what I was looking at but I agree

Dawk has 4 but he also played in an era of some great defenses so there was some serious competition

To me, there's Reggie, and then there's everyone else. Reggie is the best player in franchise history.

The Eagles have won with Hurts. Not because of him and not in spite of him. It's definitely not nit picking him to be concerned about whether his mobility is diminished. Without his mobility as a weapon, I don't think Hurts is a 'good QB'. When McNabb lost his mobility he wasn't close to as effective. When Vick lost his mobility he wasn't nearly as effective. They both needed to be moved on from and were. Hurts is no different.

There hasn't been any reasont o blame him. I don't hold him to some unattainable standard of perfection that people here choose to hold o ly Hurts to. He is the best QB in franchise history and has brought nothing but exceptional success to the Eagles.

I’m not sure who you leave off (probably Peters or Lane), but Van Buren HAS to be on this list.

I would put Dawkins first. People forget how great Eric Allen and Bill Bradley were. They would be in my top ten. I think Q has a chance to pass Allen. I think folks overlook Hopkins and Mikell (what a steal as an UDFA). Loving the underdog, I am always looking for the next Mikell. (That isn’t Reed despite all the hand wringing about the S position this offseason).

My favorite CB grouping was DPI Harris, Vincent and Taylor. Better together than individually. I think they have a chance of being overshadowed by Q, Cooper and Woolen this year.

That's what I said. If he can't do it Howie has made it possible to move on. I think he plays well this season. I think this offense aligns well for him. If I'm wrong, on to the next chapter. But without a doubt, in my now 56 years of watching just about every Eagles game, the past 5 seasons are the best football I have watched. The build up to the early-mid 2000s was fun, Vermeil for 3 years was fun, but this era takes the cake and it's due in large part to Hurts. But, as always, if it don't work I'm ready for the next iteration.
