Chunking has been proven to be one of the most effective learning methods for anything. It's why phone numbers and SSNs are so easy to remember, if it isn't common practice in sports then they're all well behind the literal learning curve

Agree with most of this. I'd argue that TO was better and Devonta Smith may end up being better.

How old are you? And I'm not saying that in a bad way....the Eagles '91 defense was sooooo stacked everywhere but I would easily take Watters and Hopkins at Safety along with Allen and Smith at DB. That secondary not only could cover, but they crippled and knocked out opposing WR's. For reference, if you ever want to watch what I feel was the most imposing defense performance ever.....go watch the House of Pain game. Hopkins should have been put in jail for that game.

I've been an AJ defender over this whole thing but taking the plays off did bother me. He just didn't do it as much as people like to act he did

I have no idea if Smith will be able to replace AJ. Getting Lemon should help so defenses aren't so focused on Smith though. We've seen Smith able to make contested catches

No unfortunately. Defenses will bracket him and double him constantly to force Hurts to go elsewhere. I believe he'll still get open, as his ability to create separation is so unique, but I don't trust Hurts to actually pull the trigger enough or at the right times for him to have this type of a season.

Kinda how I view it. People have been penciling in Devonta for like 90 catches 1400 yards. Not saying it's impossible, and if Hurts has a great season, the OL protects well and Mannion is a genius it's possible. But I also think defenses will key in on him more because there's less to worry about at WR so I could see him not reaching those highs a lot of people expect.

I view the WRs as

Devonta - very good, but not an elite tier WR1 like a Chase, Jefferson, etc.

Wicks - stinks. I just don't know what people like about this guy. Has been in the league for 3 years, has regressed each year in a good offense with a good QB. His high in receiving yards was in the 500s. And he has bad hands and is slow. Usually when you're slow you have good hands to make up for it. He doesn't. He already led the NFL in drop rate once at 20.5%. That is a ridiculously high drop rate. That's 1 out of every 5 passes he dropped in 2024, that's insane. People got pissed at AJ for dropping balls last year. At least he made big plays. He's gonna be public enemy #1 in Philly when the dude is invisible for an entire game and finally in the 4th quarter he's wide open in the middle of the field on a 3rd and 8 and he drops a pass right in the bread basket. Early favorite for most booed Eagles player in 2026. I actually think Hollywood might beat him out in camp.

Lemon - talented, good hands, should be a good slot WR in the NFL, but a rookie and is small so we just don't know. All rookies are unknowns.

Hollywood - not much other than mid level field stretcher at this point, but still has speed so is useful.

All the rest of the WRs suck. If one of Wicks, Lemon, Hollywood don't hit, WR could end up being a big issue for this team and a situation where instead of like safety or whatever, Howie is looking for WR at the trade deadline.

Nick’s focus was togetherness and football is a team sport reliant on each other without directing that theme at AJ. Most,interesting pieces was Hollywood is "Quise” and the comp of Wicks (Tay) to Keenan Allen.

I did not think of him. Maybe this could be said of Bednarik too but you would have to wonder whether Van Buren would have had same success in a different era. Still, he was the best RB of the late 40s and early 50s.

Don't know if you ever heard of the place or been there, but if you are in Philly it's right up your alley. It's basically some scientist from the 1800's who had his own collection of medical anomalies and oddities that they added even more weird specimens and collections to. Dude was kind of a mad scientist collecting dead body parts and such.

Been watching the NFL since the early ‘60s but the Eagles weren’t available much to me until 1989. The NFC team broadcast where I lived was the cowpads. Don’t get me wrong, I was a huge fan of Dirty and Hopkins. It’s no secret I love a great secondary.

I never heard of it when I was growing up, but you are correct. That sounds like my absolute heaven!!

Eagles kinda screwed them over starting late and then pulling him for practice. The whole PC was like 9 minutes
