With Epenesa in the fold we should be set at DE, with BG as the "break glass in case of emergency" fallback.

Still a very good QB? lol I see now. You're trolling. My mistake carry on

Not trolling at all. Stats look fine. He's been slipping from that bar we had him up on. The team is sinking. Did Pats sink with Brady? What excuse are we gonna make for Mahomes this year when Chiefs are 8-9? Still has decent weapons at WR, Hall of fame TE who's only good now and 2 pro bowlers on the offensive line. Hall of fame coach and play caller. Defense with Spags is always competitive. Is he gonna elevate his team?? If he is so good, why are the Chiefs likely gonna stink this year? After stinking it up last year...

A lot of us liked him as a potential Day 3 pick

He and Nolen will be a good duo but both suffering serious rookie season knee injuries.

Interesting. I wonder if he wants to play somewhere else.

Epenesa

Injury concerns, but solid DE depth if we can keep them upright and Epenesa can work his way back. Not expecting much, but we'll see.

I’m not expecting much out of Epenesa. Browns backed out of a 1 year deal "up to” $5M so it was probably vet min or slightly more. And no one sniffed around him since. Absolutely worth taking to camp to see what he’s got left and if he can still play though.

I feel like this could be a 2017 offseason for Roseman.

Just hitting on a bunch of 1 year deals. The Riq Woolen 1 year deal just like the 1 year Alshon Jeffery deal. Good player who didn't see the market they were wanting and sign a 1 year deal for like $12M-$14M. Then a number of other guys on one year deals and they all end up hitting. Hollywood Brown, Epenesa and Mudnt. Add a WR on a multi-year deal like Torrey Smith but this time Wicks. This year we trade for Greenard, 2017 we traded for Jernigans.

Now they all need to hit and that is key. Certainly not the first year that Roseman has gone with a lot of shots in the dark with 1 year deals, does it damn year every year. But this just has that feel similar to that 2017 offseason. Low expectations nationally and locally.

Smith retiring after 5 games last season was the cannery in the coalmine for how bad things were in the lockerroom.

One thing about Howie Roseman, he learns his lessons from the previous year. We know he's good at rebuilding a Superbowl contender after failing to repeat as a Superbowl Champion. Comes back hungrier and stronger for the rebound. This team looks stacked, except at safety. I'll ignore Missy for now. Aces the offseason with a Delpit move or something like it. At worst, we sign Xavier Woods or Kenny Moore for more competiton.

2017 you say.........

RTK calling for McKee to lead up to the SB?

Sounds good

So 240 in new money brings this contract up to 750m on paper for the 10 years it was originally signed for right? Trying to remember the original extension. It was 10/500 IIRC?

2 hours ago, Mike030270 said:

That's insane but he really should be the only one making that kind of money

IDK, he’s been becoming human more and more the past 3 years and he’s coming off a knee injury. I know the cap is going up and up, but these contracts are getting absolutely insane.

edit

He’s still the best QB in the NFL arguably, but the gap isn’t what it once was.

Epenesa is a nice depth signing and a really, really good fit.

The edges in this defense are light and explosive. Epenesa is the exact opposite. He'll be an asset in the rotation in physical attrition type games.

For me to say Mahomes is a top QB in this league I need to see the Chiefs as a solid playoff contender this year or that is an argument that is dead on arrival. I'm not sure the Chiefs are even .500 this year given the current team and Mahomes knee situation. This is a dumb extension that will bury the Chiefs. Stats schmats. What matters is winning when you get paid that kind of money. Chiefs have a legit shot at being under .500 two years in a row.

I listen to WIP to and from work...everyone around here looks down their nose at it, but I think it's a perfectly good listen. Apologist, hater, and everything in between opinions are represented. I'm not looking to boost my IQ through diffusion when I listen, but it's interesting to read the pulse of what's going on.

So my biggest bone to pick with the consensus I hear on there...TO. Everyone wants to talk about AJ's legacy and where he ranks with all time Philly WRs. I don't think TO belongs nearly as high as everyone suggests. One season with 1200 yards and 14 TDs. And one season in which he blew up the team.

OK? That's a legit pro-bowl season. Fantastic. That's well beyond the TD production but all other metrics are similar to what Kevin freaking Curtis got us in 2007. Zero longevity, one season in which he destroyed the team, and one pro-bowl season that, frankly, is remembered more for his swagger than it is for truly monster production. I'm not sure why TO is even on the list of best ever franchise WRs, let alone consistently mentioned at the top. I'd put Jeremy Maclin higher, let alone Desean, Quick, AJ, Devonta, Carmichael.

Semantics. AJ is the best Eagles WR ever, TO is the best WR to ever play for the Eagles.

The best career WR to ever wear an Eagles uniform? Sure. That's TO. A tiny, almost irrelevant sliver of TO's career achievement came with the Eagles.

The WR that accomplished the most in an Eagles uniform? Yeah, AJ has a much better claim on that than TO.

He doesnt have the best eagles career but he's unquestionably the best WR we have ever had on the team. Hes a top 3-5 all time NFL WR.

So it depends on how you are categorizing your rankings I guess...

After rice and Fitz I won’t argue TO at 3 if anyone thinks that.

Smith, Mailata (he's a sneaky one that will need one next year unless he plays on no guarantees), Hurts (maybe)

I was thinking defense. I think he’s going to have a plan for the offense, they're already getting younger with draft picks.

Actually have megatron ahead of fitz. If he didn’t retire at 30 (9 seasons) and played til he was 37 like Fitz a good chance he would’ve had better overall numbers than fitz. Megatron played 135 games had 731 receptions, 11619 yards and 83 TDs. Fitz played 263 games had 1432 receptions, 17492 yards and 121 tds. Meaning fitz finished with 701 receptions, 5873 yards and 38 tds more than megatron. If megatron plays 8 more seasons (fitz played 8 more than megatron) he’d have had to avg 87.6 receptions, 734 yards and 4.8 tds per season. Very likely passes fitz at least in yards and TDs
