The idea that Jeremy Maclin — who was a pretty good player here — was somehow better than Terrell Owens is downright silly. I don’t know what to say!

Don't read into it that much, they were the words of an avid WIP listener.

Per the Athletic, Ruggs may be eligible to be paroled in August. Given that Lurie took a chance on Vick, I wonder if the Eagles might be in play. I know Josh Jacobs has been pushing him, but I don’t think it is a given he goes to the Packers. Both Hurts and Devonta have some experience with him.

I was pretty sure you climbed down from the bell air 711 Mt slushy calling everyone idiots that thought AJ would be traded proclaiming the cap numbers to be impossible to move him. I could be wrong.

Why only a thousand? Are you poor? The only thing gayer than trying to fight people in a parking lot is the old thousand dollar internet bet. 0-2.

I'll start off with the obvious one. How about Hurts? He's already wanting the extension now, it'll be the focus of all media attention all year now that AJ isn't around to distract them. So Hurts, Devonte, Carter, Q, Coop to start. Most likely at least one starting caliber oline next year, probably Lane's replacement. They still don't have a starting caliber pair of safeties. One would be nice...

Carter isn't going to give the home town discount or he'd be signed by now. If he does what Davis did and balls out this season Drew Rosenhaus is going to make him the highest paid defense player in the league. I don't see them tying up that much money in the middle of the line.

Tough decisions will be coming.

Is this a serious question? No. No it's not.

OK - $10,000

And I said it wasn't possible before June 1 and was right. But keep inventing things.

So we on for $10,000 or are you just a poor slob?

I get that, but there's a difference between guys that are going to get the huge contracts and guys that will be acquired to fill roster spots. They have that now, they've just been heavy of offense and need to pay young stud defenders - a great problem to have.

Lane's replacement would be either Bell or a rookie so a rookie contract. AJ already gone, Barkley won't get another contract, Lane will retire, Dickerson won't get another contract and be replaced with a rookie deal. Jurgens also won't get another, they'll need a healthy replacement. Goedert will be gone. Money will come available from these players leaving. Baun will be gone and Campbell replaces him. They haven't invested in safety and let Blankenship walk so they won't be spending big money there. Stud corners and solid safeties with a strong front 7.

It won't be easy but that's what happens when you build a championship roster. Howie plans these things years ahead with options.

I don't know about Hurts. If the new scheme is good and they think they can move on from him to someone else, he may also be gone. If he does really well and they want to invest they have to be sure about durability long-term. This will be a year to evaluate the new offense.

I guess there’s a little bit of circularity. If Hurts plays poorly this year, we draft a cheap rookie QB and can afford Carter. If Hurts plays well, we may have less of a need for Carter long term if we can’t afford him. But, I think your points are good ones and Howie can probably make it work.

I think the focus was on as an Eagle, when the conversation started. TO had one great year with the Birds but also blew up the cohesiveness of the team while here. His habit of doing that lessens his position overall in my view because football is a team sport. I think that is why many fans soured on AJ at the end because it had twinges of divisiveness. That said, Brown’s last games seem the antithesis of TO coming back from the ankle injury.

Is $10k a lot to you? When you make a $10k bet is that like top of the world for you? Do you pinch your little Indian wiener and run around in circles in your living room screaming 'I got him now!'.

I have to ask, will you personally pull the money out of your giant sized golden vault inside your mansion in Bel Air and fly it to me on your personal jet bro? Or will it be a personal team of assistants? Will you launch your Indian knock off Lambo out the back with a parachute and deliver it right to my trailer with a fresh slushy?

Like I said before, the only thing gayer than internet parking lot fight invitation is a pretend rich guy internet cash bet.

But for real, If you need a loan just ask bro. Stop embarrassing yourself with the rich guy schtick. It's cringe.

It doesn't seem like a rational thing. Not even in women's sports.

It's unprecedented, but that doesn't mean it can't be rational. For example I remember telling people after the Falcons 28-3 that they should let Dan Quinn go to keep Shanahan(Shanahan that offseason was preparing to take the Niners job) and the offense is the reason why that team was special. Shanahan turned Ryan into an MVP. And they even had the built in excuse of blowing a 28-3 lead.

Now it would've been bad optics. They would have been ripped for it by 95% of the media. Their players probably would've been rubbed the wrong way.

Think a year later though there would be anyone saying it was the wrong decision? Nope.

Sometimes as an organization you gotta do what needs to be done. Not saying that is definitely for Mannion, but if this dude turns out to be the next offensive guru coach, the Eagles positively cannot let the guy go. If it requires letting Sirianni go, so be it.

You have to understand how Howie builds contracts - let's assume he does a 3 year, $105 million extension with JC, which basically makes it a 5 year, $136mm deal (his 2026 comp of $3.7mm and 2027 5th year option of $27.1mm are rolled in, same as Devonta when he was extended). That would make his 2026 cap number ~$9.6mm, or an extra ~$2.7mm vs. the $6.9mm he is already on the books for. But it SAVES us massive 2027 cap space - the 5th year option of $27.1mm would all hit 2027 as currently structured. Here's a quick guess at what JC would look like - we save $15.5mm in 2027 cap space by extending him, and his cap charges are manageable.

I think having grizzard here is the insurance for mannion getting poached after a successful season. This wouldn't be like promoting Brian johnson and saying "but he's gonna run the same offense!!" Grizzard has done it before, not with amazing results but decent enough to win with this defense.

The best case scenario for me personally, is we win the super bowl and sirianni retires. He wouldn't since he's so young but god i hate that Fing clown

WIP already stoking the flames regarding Jalen Carter, while present, but not practicing at mini camp. They’re calling it a distraction, a potential hold out situation, etc. I guess now that AJ is gone, they needed to find a new slant.

Well the morons at WIP are easily distracted.

He is practicing though. He just hasnt done team stuff. It could be contract. Its also likely injury precaution with his shoulders too.

Greenard and Smith both had shoulder surgeries and neither are practicing. I suspect that it’s a combination of precaution from aggravating and against further costly injury (right now his next two seasons are not cheap and guaranteed).

You're right, that does fit.

I guess it comes down to perception, then. My personal opinion of Buddy Ryan was he was the actual buffoon people think Nick is, so there's a parallel there as well. Excellent DC, but bad head coach.

For all the hate Kotite gets, he and Ryan had fairly similar results as Eagles head coach.

I see Jalen's interceptions in OTAs have really been bothering you.

World cup traffic is making me hate soccer more than I already did. I hope they all lose.

I don't know where you've been but I'm on team Tanner now buddy. I wish Dalton wasn't so washed up I'd be rooting for him too. It's like everyone has just accepted Hurts is gone after this year as the default position without consciously realizing it. Either that or he's going to need a $300 million dollar extension.

Nothing bothers me about sports entertainment. It's entrainment, Breaux.

One major thing that I think people are getting wrong with AJ...and I say this as someone who has no dogs in the fight to defend AJ as a person.

WRs can dog routes when they think they won't be targeted. WRs can dog blocking. AJ Brown is a fiercely competitive, selfish, egotistical athlete...he's NOT going to dog it with the ball in the air headed his way, or on plays where he is the first read. And people are accusing him of that.

I think a huge portion of his perceived poor effort was a precipitous physical decline and loss of explosion. He's not who he was.

My theory has been that part of this was about money. AJ's deal is running out of guaranteed money. The Eagles could have gone to AJ and assuaged him with an extension offer. They did not. I think they have the same concerns about his play. I think often people do not know or admit to their own motives. Motives are also not stagnant. They are constantly changing especially when it is about day to day behavior. I agree that it is unlikely that he was consciously dogging it on plays. He wants to be seen as a dominant player and the as he put it the best Eagle ever. You cannot believe that sincerely while not giving a full effort. If he wants another big contract, he knows he cannot be seen as a player on the decline. At the same time, his dissatisfaction with his role, the offense and his lack of numbers may have also impacted his effort. Cognitive dissonance is a thing.
