I appreciate Big Dom's bit of always wearing a track suit and hat and sticking out like a sore thumb everywhere he goes

He kinda looks like a thumb so it works.

I see santoliquito is back writing about eagles QBs….

Good news for offseason drama for us! The Eagles do have to make a decision on his contract. I don't think this is sensational. If we just take a step back and look at it from a business decision standpoint, it's not a big deal. Hurts is entering the last season of his guaranteed money. They will have to make a large financial commitment to keep Hurts. The question is whether he will have sufficient longevity as a player to make that investment worthwhile. If he comes in next season and runs the offense efficiently, he answers those questions. If he doesn't, they should not extend him for what his market price would be. I don't doubt that Hurts's agent is upset about the lack of sources from the team that supported Hurts in the story. I am sure Roseman and Siranni were contacted for comment. Roseman's comment to the media was the story was unfortunate but he then said the team has to be more direct with players. That does not sound to me like a wholesale dismissal of the story as being untrue. So Hurts's agent has probably reached out to Howie about a new deal and has been told they have to see about Carter first and the team isn't ready to do a new deal. Of course they will be disgruntled and contacting journalists.

While i agree it isn’t as good anymore, the hurts needing an extension is coming up after 2027. @vikas83 can probably explain it better than me, but his contract after 2027 is kind of a line of demarcation. If they wanted to move in after 2027 they post June 1 cut or trade him and save money. I actually think this season likely is a big year for hurts, Nick and the offense. Because if the pass offense is once again bottom third in the league, then Nick is likely going to be in trouble (as i can’t imagine the eagles running like they did in 2024 to make up for that) and the Eagles are gonna have three first round picks in the next two years to maneuver the way they want at the QB position. It’s makes a lot of sense to give hurts a big extension moving forward if he plays great in 2026. However if he doesn’t i think eagles are hitting a crossroads at HC and QB

So 2026 is his last year of fully guaranteed money ($51.5 million cash this year). Next year, only $22.7 million of his $51.5 million is guaranteed (triggered earlier this offseason), so that is the line of demarcation next offseason - Hurts will want a new deal with new guaranteed money. The Eagles are likely fine if he wants to play 2027 out with a partial guarantee (unless he craps the bed this season), given the rise in the QB market. Also, and I can't stress this enough - despite what idiots like ESP say, THERE IS NO WAY AN EXTENSION CAN REDUCE HURTS' CAP HITS UNLESS HE TAKES LESS CASH IN A CERTAIN YEAR. Just to get that out of the way - they can't get cap savings from an extension (other than pushing off the final ~90mm 2029 dead cap hit after his contract expires).

So really, the driving force will be Hurts looking for an extension. The dead money to trade him next offseason is ~$83.7mm, or $41.6mm above his $42.1mm cap hit. Spotrac has $85.2mm, and trading him post June 1 splits that $30.8mm in 2027 ($11.4mm cap savings) and $54.5mm in 2028. If you released him post June 1, $22.7mm more hits 2027 cap ($52.8mm charge) and still $54.5mm in 2028. So the best plan is a post June 1 trade if you want to move on.

There is a 4k release of The Sopranos coming? That is awesome news.

So having an extra 1st round pick in 2028 already could be kind of helpful ,right?

I think we got some thin-skinned folks is all, gobble-gobble. Great game between Nippon and Nederland.

Gives them optionality. If hurts plays well in 2026 in the new offense with mannion then they have 3 firsts over 2 years that they can build the offense (team) going forward with hurts. However if the pass offense struggles and finishes bottom 1/3 of the league like it has past two years unless they get a 2024 historic run game then it’s probably a crossroads for Sirianni’s future and hurts. gives them the ability and potential to use those 1st to maneuver to get a QB and I’m not sure sirianni survives a pass offense finishing bottom third for 3 straight years unless eagles go on a deep run.

Yes - if we move on, the 2028 cap hit is going to be over $50 million. So having a cost controlled option at QB is a must. We can use that pick to maneuver in 2027 or wait a year until 2028.

One potential middle ground, if this year in inconclusive, is to fully guarantee all his 2027 comp to bring him back for one more year, but leave 2028 fully unguaranteed. Gives us another year to evaluate (before the 2028 draft with 2 1st round picks). The dead cap would go up to ~$94mm (pay $51.5mm in cash in 2027 vs. $42.1mm in cap charges adds $9.4mm more in dead money). Also makes the impact of trading or cutting him the same in the 2028 offseason.

Frankly, I think the Eagles would like to trade Jalen hurts if they were going to move on. I could see a market for him for a team like the Houston Texans. if CJ Stroud plays poorly/unevenly again, I could see demeco Ryan’s wanting hurt. He’s not gonna turn the ball over and I’m guessing Ryan probably feels that his defense being as great as it is that hurts over stroud could propel them to a title

Wait, how do you pronounce Chile? Do you say it with a long i sound and silent e? (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxhO-qZIrJc) Or do you say it like the food as in Chili?

I think the unanswered questions are what does Hurts want to do. Is this a scenario where his ego makes him want to force a trade next offseason without a top of the market deal. In the alternative, could he be willing to negotiate a team friendly deal that reduces his cost relative to the market in 2029 through 2031.

When Turkey plays against Chile is it appropriate to serve Turkey Chili at concession?

No, it's

AJ Epenesa apparently getting peanuts. Just over a mil in base salary.

I like Jalen Hurts, but if he wants to waive his NTC...

If true 🤣

Not really an edge, more of a 3/4 DE. Basically competition with Robinson and Hall.

Philly is so much better as a fanbase in every way

Word is this guy is pretty good. Just needs to stay healthy. But not a Kmart special like last year.

Sopranos is my favorite show of all time but the two things that always drove me crazy was that Nancy Marchand CGI (which I get because it was over 25 years ago) and that awkward cut-scene pause after Carmela talks with AJ’s principal in season 5. That scene felt like it was done with 2002 PowerPoint.
