June 16Jun 16 Will be interesting to see what happens. He’s one of the bigger recent names I can remember. I hope you all post your supplemental mock drafts.

Guys plummet in normal drafts because of like "Prospect had a minor meniscus injury when he was 12”Dude is a gambling addict and he’s one instance of succumbing to that to being banned for life. Mid round pick at most.

To say it was a "medical condition/addiction".

Paxton needs to realize he just alienated a lot of UH (bigger student body than Tech and has been since before I was there. Don’t think UT alumni are on his side either. The stupid feud that Tech has trying to play UT doesn’t help. UT student body is huge and a ton of alumni. After the whole Jimbo Fisher fiasco, A&M is probably glad to have the spotlight elsewhere but Corp really frowns on cheating with it code of conduct. Doubt they are on Tech’s side. Paxton literally issued a memorandum that paid fantasy leagues violate Texas’ anti-gambling law. Big 12 reminds folks of that in their suit. Meanwhile the quotes coming from the leadership at Tech are an embarrassment to their alumni. Here’s wishing the wind from the stockyards blows toward Tech all football season.

In the risk factor of the eyes if NFL teams this is probably worse than having a criminal record without question given one misstep with something he’s always shown he will do and the dude is gone for life.

There is a risk that he gets charged at some point because of his own admissions. That has to factor into whether the NFL values him as much as you do. Art Schlicter.

This guy isnt falling to the 4th or 5th round of the supplemental draft.

Talk about the writing on the wall.
June 16Jun 16 Ted Nguyen, best reason to subscribe to the Athletic, list the top ten versatile players in the NFL. Five are nickel/CB or S, including:Cooper DeJean, CB/safety/nickel, EaglesEagles coaches speak about Cooper DeJean with reverence because the scope of what they ask him to do from a schematic and physical standpoint is not normal. DeJean does everything, except maybe man coverage, at an elite level and he’s still very good playing man. If he’s not the top tackling defensive back in the league, he’s top three. You simply can’t throw a screen in his direction and expect to get yards after the catch. His awareness in zone is where he really stands out. He knows exactly how offenses are trying to stress coverages with their pass concepts and takes away passing lanes, so even when he’s not making plays on the ball, he’s forcing quarterbacks to hold the ball.DeJean has mastered multiple positions in a complex Vic Fangio system and should be recognized as one of the league’s best defenders. Last season, DeJean moved to outside corner when the Eagles were in base (four defensive backs). Reportedly, DeJean has been playing safety in base in OTAs.

I just don’t see a team using a second. He’s a tier 2 QB, if he improves his accuracy.

Its more than just the speculation about philly using a 2nd.I dont think NFL teams care as much as fans think they should. It tells me fans dont know any better about the "addict" ploy, but NFL teams understand what that was all about. Knowing that, its not as worrisome. So now, you have a potential top 5 talent in the upcoming draft, playing QB, who you can get in round 2. Thats a no-brainer.For a team like the eagles, with an extra first round pick, and a QB they can trade fairly soon, they can have their QB of the future, and all that additional ammo to make sure they have their lane replacement. And more.
June 16Jun 16 From David McKenzie:The Texas AG's threatening letter to the Big 12 was an unforced error of the first order. Strip it out and there's no lawsuit— because there's no justiciable controversy. A conference privately mulling a sanctions vote isn't a "case"; it's a meeting. The AG's 200M per se antitrust threat is what manufactured the ripeness, handed the Big 12 its MedImmune, Inc. v. Genentech, Inc hook, and let Sidley walk into federal court in Dallas with a complaint instead of a press release. Paxton's office didn't just pick a fight— it wrote the other side's standing argument for them, then signed it. Now TTU and the AG get to defend a theory the Oklahoma AG already called "facially absurd," in a real courtroom, against a national firm on its home turf. The letter was meant to intimidate. It functioned as service of process.
June 16Jun 16 The eagles aren't going to use a 2nd round pick on this dude, but the jets or Cardinals will. If the raiders didnt just get mendoza they'd be in the mix as well. There are bad teams who are thinking this is their big ticket to top talent outside of the top 5 and the GMs aren't going to care about the risk, they care about saving their jobs.So maybe the eagles did do their homework and would bring them in, they're not going to get the opportunity to do so

June 16Jun 16 then again, a team knowing other teams are willing to use a 2nd, could see itself picking in the late part of round 1 next year and be willing to use a 1st. Still a bargain for the talent level.
June 16Jun 16 Eagles don’t have a 3rd. If they actually want him they will probably have to offer up their 2nd
June 16Jun 16 I'm sure the Eagles are chomping at the bit to draft a QB who placed bets on his own team.
June 16Jun 16 Sorsby for a second round pick? Why would we waste that asset when we have the best QB in the NFL, Carson Strong right in his prime.
June 16Jun 16 I like what Pete Rose did for the Phillies so I’m fine with the Eagles rolling the dice, spinning the wheel, and playing a lottery ticket with Sorsby. Big arm and athletic.I’ll take a break from Eagles fandom if they ever bring in that scumbag Ruggs, however.
