Patullo was the biggest problem on offense, not Hurts, but he had his issues too.

Hurts didn't like Patullo, even when he was promoted, Hurts comments were underwhelming. Since he's had so many OCs, it's relevant for the OC and QB to work well together.

They're not going to trash the scheme, of course. I hate this argument against positive comments though. They could have more measured reaction & player speak. Instead, they're giving high praise. Yes it's just OTAs and we have to see how it actually looks. But don't downplay overwhelming high praise either.

• If he is the real deal then the Eagles won't be able to afford him with the new deals for Quinyon and DeJean next year. I'm not taking Woolen over either of those two long term.

• It was clear that Hurts wasn't that thrilled with KP getting the OC job because he was Nick's best friend. For good reason too since KP ended up being the worst OC in the league and worst OC for the Eagles this century.

It's possible that since people were speculating that Hurts was "uncoachable" or that he only wanted to do his own thing, that pointing out the healthy relationship is a way to quietly disprove those accusations.

Spurs inexperience, Fox and HC cost them that series. Knicks didn’t have finals experience but their HC and team was more experienced. They continued to play the way they always had and the moment got too bright for spurs in crunch time. Fox was terrible down the stretch of games and the spurs HC continued to just give him significant mins. Then putting teams away finally caught up to the spurs. I believe in every game this series they had a 12+ point lead. They blew every one of those leads.

I actually bet $100 when Knicks went up 3-0 over cavs and they were getting +265 to win the title. Hate the Knicks fans but i thought spurs were a better matchup for the Knicks if that happened and that OKC wasn’t healthy.

It was the right play there, it was one on one with your best WR. You can be an AJ Brown hater as much as you want but is no scenario throwing into triple coverage the right throw.

But that play was everyone's fault. It was Hurts, Patullo, Sirianni, AJ Brown earlier in the drive dropping a pass. The offense was abysmal and it's only that bad when there is a collective failure. Everyone has to be better this season. Or else a lot of people are gonna lose their jobs.

I have to disagree. When Ronnie Lott was drafted, Bill Walsh put him at left corner. He was all-pro there. After four years Walsh moved him to safety. He was all-pro there as well. Walsh explained the move, saying at corner he only controlled half the field but at safety he controlled all of it with his elite vision, tackling, and playmaking. Fangio already uses DeJean as a quasi-safety who switches to straight safety in base sets. This is not unlike the notion of putting your five best OL out there and figuring out who goes where after the fact. Last year it looked like Vic was protecting CB2. If Woolen proves out there it frees DeJean up to roam more. I’m sure he’ll still take a slot receiver much of the time but I look for him to be wild card in our zone coverages, that is, a safety.

I'm sure that's true, I imagine there'll also be an autopsy - pending toxicology results? I wonder if professional athletes have a higher than normal rate of early death due to what they put their bodies through at a young age.

I would guess the opposite to be true. Athletes are usually in great shape cardio wise. However, sometimes some of the stuff you take to get bigger, stronger, faster, can cause issues with heart, lungs, kidneys, even livers.

Sure, DeJean moved around a good bit last year and will do the same this year and he's going to be great wherever he lines up. The question is the percentage of snaps at S vs. Slot vs. CB. Last year he played just a bit under 15% of the snaps at S.

Your take is absolutely a fair one but I'll stick with my opinion on this one and mainly I base that on how hard slot coverage is and how few there are that can do it so well. Lott is a great example and worthy of comparison but it is also true that the game isn't the same game as it was in the Lott years and slot coverage is quite a bit more important than it was back then. I'd rather have DeJean playing the Slot for the majority of snaps the next couple of years while he still has his elite speed and then transition more and more to S as the years go by. I think it is easier for us to get by with a mediocre S than it would be with a crappy Slot DB.

Edit: I do agree that the CB snaps for DeJean can drop to very low numbers and when there are only four DBs then he plays S so that will increase the snaps at S but not at the expense of the slot coverage.
