He offered both defense and criticism of each of Hurts and Patullo over the "Four Verts"He said that he heard that it was Hurts who offered the play, but Patullo kind of froze up there and didn't know what to call, so Hurts offered four verts.For the play he said the throw was supposed to go to AJ Brown one on one in the end zone but Hurts made the wrong decision into coverage in the middle of the field there.

June 12Jun 12 The most likely traded position by the deadline will be safety, if no vet is acquired before the season. It's as glaring as CB2 last year, but maybe worse. Because you have serious questions about 2 positions, not 1. Will they even hold up? Makuba is smallish and was injured and had a rollercoaster rookie season (57 PFF). Epps hasn't played a full season, since 2023 because of different ailments. Carter has had injuries. He is likely a dime guy and is smallish as well. The wildcard is the 7th round draft pick in Wisniewski who has size and is ideally more of a box safety. He also has a long injury history as well with a torn achilles being the worst one. Not counting on him to be a starter in his 1st year. I really can't imagine Howie not bringing someone else in here by the preseason. They probably got a good look here in the camps and will attack that next. Didn't hear anything great about any of the candidates in the camps. Also, I hate the way of thinking that since we have the best trio of CBs in the league, we can now slack off at safety. Safety play was bad last year. Blew up in their faces, especially in the playoff game.

We may not need two #1s and it doesnt make a lot of sense to sink a lot of resources in to that position with Hurts as the QB. But if Howie can get a guy with potential at a discount he likes those moves.
June 12Jun 12 Hollywood Brown has been a #1 in this league. Recently he's more like a 2/3. Just turned 29. Mannion, if like the usage in Green Bay, will likely use 4-5 WRs. And actually throw to them. I'm not looking at who's 1, 2, 3 or 4 per se in here. They will all see the ball and have packages in which they are utilized to their strengths. Brown is still a good speed guy (70 PFF last year) and is a deep threat. Wicks (77 PFF in 2024, battled calf and ankle injuries in 2025) is good in the middle of the field and elite at creating separation and space. Good 3rd down kind of guy. Yes, he does have a drops issue. Lemon is a tactician route runner, much like Smith and will be good at getting separation with cuts and fakes. This is a skilled group overall. Do like Wilson (think he's a lock to make team) as well, doing the dirty work in the running game, maybe more in the red zone and being a big passing target in RZ. On that note, this set of receivers is a huge upgrade in the run blocking department. This is about a team offense, not 1 guy whining and chasing stats and sulking/vanishing when he doesnt get the ball. The targets will be spread out for this group. Of course, Devanta leading the way.

Your way is one way of looking at it. The other is that1) You always try to compile as much talent as you possibly can and if a good player at an affordable price becomes available... why not?2) Jalen Hurts may not even be here in a year, so it would be a short term in addition to a long term roster move.3) Jalen Hurts is the type of QB who has struggled when he's had to make do with lesser quality passing weapons. So surround him with as much talent as possible to maximize your chances of success.Howie will always look to upgrade what he considers the premium positions. He does it obsessively.

But Blankenship had a slightly down season last year so that seems to be everyone's lasting impression.I say this as a guy who made the case that Epps was statistically just as good, is not better, than CJGJ back when we let Epps walk as a free agent initially.Epps also was just ok last year. I hoped he would be even better. And, hes an injury concern. At this point I think fans are slightly overrating Epps, and udnderrating Blankenship.

Think defenses will easily blanket and bracket him in New England and wait for Doubs to beat anyone. He no longer has Devanta Smith (pending all time best Eagles WR) to work off of. I see a lot of forced throws by Drake to his new faux #1 WR in the future, where he no longer can separate and just body people or just maybe outjump... ANYONE. The loss of explosiveness and speed is real here.

A hit on him in college was that he couldn't cover TEs and he showed that to be very much the case in the NFL for him too. The main thing though is I don't think we will say him stay healthy with his size and the style of play the he wants to play. I'd rather Blankenship and Epps/Makuba than Epps and I don't even know who if Makuba gets injured again.
