And then the daily update on Hurts completions, INTs and TDs will begin. Get your popcorn ready.

I’d be concerned if Hurts didn’t throw a healthy amount of INT this TC. That would mean they’re really not trying new things and making him uncomfortable. Now’s the time to do that.

I don't follow the TC stats, but ESP does... religiously. In fact, I think he invented them. Good for him.

Extension does not kick in until 2028 it would seem.

2026: Plays under year 4 of his rookie deal.

2027: Plays under the 5th year option of the rookie deal.

2028-2031: New 4 year deal.

Yup and it pisses the coaches and players off. Dude is a soccer fan, so there’s that.

Point is, they need to doing a bunch of drastic things with the route combos and pre-snap stuff to test him now. Last thing we need to see is the same old offense with smaller WR’s.

Good point. Counter would be that he's done great in the transition to the new system though (doubt it but would be awesome)

Freudian slip?

It doesn't mean come the season I won't enjoy ever game. Doesn't mean I won't be here discussing it. But the nature of failure with a ravenous need for success has been replaced with almost constant success (to some degree) which for me, has definitely tempered everything. I thought I would honestly die before I ever saw a Super Bowl victory. Now we have two.

Now the ****ing and moaning about "Is our QB good enough", "Is our Head Coach good enough", etc....really comes off whiney, petty and quite small minded.

I know what you are saying bud and I get it. I think maybe how lucky we were in 2024 to have not only won the SB but in such dominant fashion then brought us down the next year. To have been so good and then to have been so boring last year wasn’t fun. But I also get that I’m saying that as a spoiled fan who has seen us win the SB twice despite having only been a fan for roughly 15 years.

"Open”

When a guy is touted as being good at contested balls, it’s because the guy has a lot of contested balls. That’s about as "open” AJB will be anymore, outside a busted coverage.

I think that's 2 different things. It seems pretty apparent the offense looking different is a Lurie/Howie mandate at this point. This might change as the season progresses but the offense they will work on installing is going to be different. If Hurts is throwing completions on over the middle intermediate throws from under center, that's the best outcome. If he's only throwing deep on go balls against 1 on 1 and otherwise throwing checkdowns and incompletions, it's not great but not the worst. The worst would be just a bunch of holding onto the ball and INTs because of bad footwork and timing. They are not going to look gangbusters against this defense in training camp. I just would like them to look effective at times and have some go to concepts that work.

They’re in a tough spot. Because if it works then Mannion will be gone and Nick will be back with another OC and the revolving door continues. If it doesn’t work then it’s a lost season and no one is safe.

Kind of. They are going to take his 5th year and fold it into the new extension and probably convert a big chunk of that base salary and turn it into a bonus next year

A shame it seems they hit pretty big on Ojomo in the 7th round but unfortunately won't be able to give him a second contract here. I guess it's a good problem to have.

I think I would be happy with a season where Mannion is hired away next offseason. The Eagles hired a bunch of new offensive coaches, in part, to safeguard against Mannion leaving. It's not a bad problem to have.

Same problem they had with Milton. Consequences of drafting well and there are worse problems to have.

I agree. We'll see how it works out.

There's got to be a learning curve... or there's no learning.

I am still running with the thought that if Mannion is successful, he is the next HC…and that can happen sooner rather than later.

I think Nick lost all control over coaching hires so there is a mandate in place. I dont think the Eagles would bring in all the talented offensive minds on a trial basis. I think they are part of a succession plan.

Basically the same place they reached with Milton - good player, but can't pay everyone. Will be sad when Ojomo leaves, but you bet on the more talented guys in Davis and Carter.

He's at camp meeting with Lurie and Howie.
