Let’s entertain that reasoning for a second. You show Carter as the only nickel. You have Jones, more nickel that outside, on your roster. They are trying McWilliams as a nickel to cross train in TC. The Eagles have multiple back up DBs playing multiple positions.

I assume that you don’t have a problem with Bell as a swing, Fred as a G/T as a swing, Kendall, Lampkin, Majors as C/Gs, Ojukwu as a G/T Swing. Frankly, what hurts Morris and Williams is that they haven’t presented enough to play multiple positions at this time. Even the starters on OL have multiple positions. No doubt both Mailata and Lane can play both T positions, Steen is a G/T and Cam and Landon are both C/Gs.

I think you doth protest too much about this in the secondary. Sam is S4 and on the PS. Wisneiwski is playing the two UDFAs likely for a PS position.

Very sharp. Overall the NFL Rivalry jerseys doe this year are much better than last. Gives me hope for when the Eagles get theirs next year.

Its the the way Fangio uses his personnel so you have to adjust the way you evaluate things.

Not trolling. I did some research last year because I felt the same way you have described … especially with respect to Fangio’s scheme. What I found was that standard terminology has "Base” with 4 DBs and 3 or 4 LBs. "Nickel” is a terminology alternative to "Base.” They haven’t come up with a terminology alternative to the term "Base.” What term do you use when you refer to "Base” in Fangio’s scheme where you believe "Nickel” is the most deployed, and therefore base, alignment?

All of the above is why I replied several times yesterday with the one-word reply "semantics”.

There is a really good new book out now called "On The Mark” which details the history of punctuation. It is an entertaining read. Punctuation and Terminology are close relatives.

Unfortunately the physical "on paper” structure of depth charts aren’t as fluid as thought processes, which is why in many different instances you see the same player name listed in different positions of a depth chart … both in Offense and Defense. That happens with Centers and Guards. It happens with Right and Left Tackles. It happens with Tight Ends and H-Backs (Fullbacks).

Actually it isn’t me making your referenced play, it is the terminology tsars who haven’t adjusted the terminology to fit the times.

Agreed 100%. However, until the terminology is changed it is still the terminology and the boxes of a depth chart printed out on paper will still be the same.

This going to very important, I think we're going to see a fair amount of blitzing until Jalen beats it with his arm (preferred) or his legs (hopefully back on the menu).
