From a long term plan perspective I think I’d have let Sanders fail, start 0-5 then watch the 2027 QB class.Would Manning pull an Eli if Browns tried drafting him?

Because while it’s a clever way to distribute cap hits over a contract in a way that minimizes that percentage of cap space used in a given year, it requires the owner to pay more real world cash and to do it up front and guaranteed. It’s a competitive edge because it is cash flow poor.

Tuesday at 02:22 AM4 days On 8/23/2026 at 4:09 PM, Sack that QB said:Blocking isn't the issue for Stowers. He could be horrendous as a blocker, if he was a dynamic pass catcher he'd find his way on the field. The reason he won't and isn't standing out at all so far is he's been bad as a receiving TE too. He was drafted as a "Convert who can't block but is a special pass catcher, he just needs to learn the position" but he hasn't shown the ability to get open or shake defenders. He's just not a smooth athlete. Don't see it with him, didn't see it in college, but we shall see in time. For the football gods’ sake, second preseason game, third week of practice. He’s still at that level where he is thinking. We are a ways from the start of the season. So instead of bemoaning, let’s celebrate that his blocking is better than the awful that was anticipated. Look how much better second year players are performing, for the most part.

Like Jones probably has twice the net worth as Lurie and we’re talking about billions. But he’s either too stubborn or stupid to do the same. I’d imagine Lurie is roughly in the middle when it comes to these owners and cash but no one else wants to do it. Then again, Jed York paid $140 for a trailer park smash so who knows.
Tuesday at 02:39 AM4 days I don’t see the Eagles adding any players that have any real cost to them. Exchanging depth only. I think Howie’s strategy will center around signing Hunt, Q and Cooper next offseason which means they really just need to go young/cheap at other spots
