I'm saying I don't know. Not until he officially shows he's better in 2026 than 2024 can I give the 2026 DTs the edge because missing Milton is huge. I think Milton is awesome. I think he's a top 6 DT in football right now just took a while to unlock it. Honestly, without the luxury of hindsight I'd go back in time and lock Milton up early in free agency for Jordan Davis money(which I think he would've taken before he hit the market) and let Davis go. And I like Davis, but Milton Williams is a game wrecker and I think he has a tenacity about him. I have more confidence in him being an elite level DT for the next 5 years than Davis, and I don't say that as a knock on Davis it's more just me loving Milton Williams.

I agree with your take on the current Milton Williams, but that is some serious revisionist history to say Week One 2024 Milton was the same as current Milton. Week One 2024 Milton was nowhere near as good as Week Eighteen 2024 Milton.

You are using rose colored glasses in your assessment IMO.

I didn't say that. This exercise wasn't about who had better DTs August 2026 Eagles or August 2024 Eagles. It's who has better DTs: what we know about the 2024 Eagles now or August 2026 Eagles.

Becton is like remembering Paris. Very fondly. Love that guy! But he's a bad fit here. Mannion knows exactly the archetype for this offense and he ain't it. You can just tell in these short couple weeks here, that we are in good hands with this coaching staff and its evaluation process. Why I have Freddie off this final 53. Just not the right fit. He's going to stay disciplined in his arche-type player for this scheme. Back to having an identity for the offense.

Have done all three. Rudy’s and Blacks have gone downhill since the I35 corridor has grown so large. I am bad at the names but I tend to select BBQ joints based on looking like a BBQ joint and smelling smoke outside and in. Kind of agree with @Joe Ball on smoke, salt and pepper, but in true East Texas brisket needs the mop. Absolutely requires apple cider vinegar and most mix in some molasses or brown sugar. I prefer molasses as it holds the mop into the bark.

Rudy’s went downhill? Honestly, I’ve had it quite a few times over the past 25 or so years and they’re kind of like Chili’s of BBQ. There’s a lot of chains and redundant restaurants like Fridays, Applebee’s, etc…but they’re at the top, but what does that really mean. Rudy’s is the best of the ‘at least it’s edible and resembles BBQ’ type places for me. Black’s I’ve only had once. Wasn’t bad. There’s a joint my wife and i went to last time we were in Texas visiting the in laws. When she gets home I’ll drop the name, since i can’t remember.

I will use apple and cherry wood on smoked pork butts, and spritz ribs with apple cider vinegar with some brown sugar. A little butter and some honey when wrapping and finish for about 45 minutes. I've even used Dr Pepper to spritz. Pork is easy and forgiving imo. I used to dislike Carolina BBQ, well, the vinegar based variety anyway, but if it is not too overpowering its really pretty good. @BigEFly the next time I plan on coming to Clarksville for a golf tournament I am going to hit you up, I'll bring you a whole brisket for you and your family.

Memphis does vinegar based far better than Carolina. Typically i think of mustard/tart based stuff for carolina. I used to be all about vinegar based sauces. Now I’m more into rubs as my source of flavor. Honestly I’ve been sticking to Stubbs (I Know) or when I’m fancy my homemade Dr Pepper sauce and relying on the smoke, salt/pepper and rubs for most of the flavor.

Brisket is my mortal enemy. Once i perfected my technique…i moved from Colorado Springs back to PA. It’s absolutely insane the difference elevation makes in how you do things.

That is a cherry picked comparison. Not quite apples and oranges, but definitely an uneven playing field. Why do you not compare apples to apples?

I used to eat at Texadelphia pretty regularly. Only place to get a half way decent Cheesesteak in Austin. The ole 56 from Jersey Mikes isn't a bad go to in a pinch but nothing legit Cheesesteak.

I'm a bit out west in Dripping and there's no good food out here. However, there's a place called Turcotte's that has a damn good cheesesteak.

There's two types of Carolina sauce, Eastern which is thinner and vinegar based, and Gold which is probably what you're thinking of.

I didn't pick the debate. People were debating what is better the 2024 defense vs the 2026. I didn't set the parameters. It's impossible to do that without factoring in what we know about 2024.

What is impossible about it? There are copious records of what the team was like in each and every week of the 2024 season. You are choosing to compare a snap shot at 7:00pm … prime time … to a snap shot at 7:00am … by dawn’s early light. That is your right to do. Just don’t pretend it’s an equivalency.

I think it is time for us to agree to disagree. Reasonable people can agree to disagree reasonably.

I don't even know what you are disagreeing on. The question is what is the better DT group 2026 or 2024? The question itself dictates how to approach the question. The question wasn't "What did you think was the better DT group in August of each year?"

To answer what DT group is better you have to use the knowledge of what we know of 2024. It doesn't make any sense otherwise. I didn't pick the debate. Your issue is with the question, not my approach to it. The question can only be answered one way.

Seeing the run game in pre-season I've been thinking that I was wrong in thinking Becton is not a fit here. I now feel like he would have been awesome in the new scheme.

Going through the schedule for how I feel it will play out as of today:

1 Redskins - W

2 @ Titans - W

3 @ Bears MNF - W

4 Rams - L

5 Jaguars in London - L

6 Panthers - W

7 Cowboys - L

8 @ Redskins - W

9 Giants - W

10 BYE

11 Steelers - W

12 Cowboys on Thanksgiving - W

13 @ Cardinals - W

14 Colts - W

15 Seahawks on Saturday - W

16 Texans on Thursday - W

17 @ 49ers L

18 @ Giants W if 1st seed on the line, L if not and they rest starters.

So either 13-4 and #1 seed or 12-5 if the #1 seed is not on the line in the final week.

I think Milton is a good DT, but IDK about top 6.

Simmons, Brown, both other Williams, Carter, Lawrence, Vea and Jones. Then you can debate where he sits with Davis, Allen and Murphy. Top 10 isn’t a stretch though.

Davis fills a role that Milton can’t. Can’t keep everyone, but the FO gambled on Carter getting healthy and Davis not being a 1 year wonder and losing focus again. Patriots offered him stupid money, no way Eagles were going to match that.

As is, top to bottom, the 2026 Eagles on paper have a better DT group than 2024.

You are looking at the question with tunnel vision. The only data you have about the 2026 Eagles is the current state. In order to make a valid comparison to that current state you need to choose the comparable 2034 state. Otherwise you are comparing boys to girls.

For the record I have taught University- level logic. You are adding an inference that contaminates the integrity of the direct comparison. Feel free to inject that inference if it pleases you, but the comparison loses its integrity if you do.

I am only in Paris a few times a year. Lately we have been dealing with some health issues for the FIL, so slightly more but basically glued to him when we are. Will try and reach out beforehand. BTW, east 82 around I30 is seeing some widening and is trying to rival I10 at Beaumont for stupid construction design. Those folks make the I30 construction design look like geniuses.

No, I'm not. "What DT group is better, 2024 or 2026?"

To answer that question you have to use all the available data present. The only data we have for 2026 unfortunately is data based on what we have to this point.

What would even be the point of asking that question if we have to ignore what transpired during the 2024 season? It would make the question totally pointless. What we thought about the 2024 group before the season started is no longer relevant. You're viewing the question through the wrong lens. The right way is to try to give the most informed view on what group is better. You're viewing it philosophically, which doesn't apply here.

I was worried when he started a podcast. Then appearing everywhere, first pitch, ringing the bell, walking out with Morgan Wallen. Then seeing national press dating a Dallas cowpads cheerleader. Now, his mother is doing commercials for Always Discreet. Be thrilled, fellow Bloggers, the Eagles have Kelce 2.0. Pressure is on his younger brothers. One has to marry a billionaire songstress.

I’ve been training Twitter towards football, Eagles football, a bit of music and history and humor. Looking like Twitter has discovered my enjoyment of cowpads jokes,
