Yeah because that's why it was negative not the 10 wins and the team will struggle part of it.

The point isn't they are as good it's on paper they have a massive amount of talent arguably as good if not better on defense than 24. There is no reason to be down on what this team can do.

If he is on the outs, I could definitely see Howie pouncing on this one as a flier reclamation project.

We desparately need more grocery stores here with the growth. Population in '88 was 1800 one small Affiliated Foods. Population in '26 is 31k and only one Super Walmart and it's always packed. I won't buy meat, seafood, or produce there unless I absolutely have to, I will make the drive to Rockwall for quality ingredients. The traffic sucks now though with the widening of I-30.

Been there, tried that. A long time ago though. Better than most imitation cheesesteaks. But if I am in Texas eating a sandwich, sliced brisket from a non chain BBQ joint with obvious smoke from the smoker. Take a chopped brisket sandwich to go for later. Post oak as the wood. (Avoid Dickey’s and Soulman at all costs. Not a fan of Pappas either).

My other favorite Texas "sandwich” is a Taco al Carbon. For reasons understood by someone else, this TexMex favorite doesn’t make it out of the Lone Star state. (Well except from my grill). Prefer mine with some queso.

The 2024 defense wasn't considered that talented at this time in 2024. Obviously by the SB they were great

Yea, lets think about this. If a team struggles in the NFL and still gets double digit wins, that's a good team. It might be a pessimistic take, but it's not some super negative opinion. 12 out of 32 teams got to double digit wins last year. The Eagles last year were a blocked FG TD return away from being a 10 win team.

This team has potential but they have some to prove as well.

I also count on the D to carry them and set the floor high. But through preseason I've developed the belief that they will be back to an elite ground game. And I feel that the passing scheme will allow them to convert 3rd downs when needed. It looks like a breath of fresh air and I think it's gonna get the job done.

Hurts will quiet the doubters once again. No wait. Some peeps will sit here and say that he was just a passenger and went along for the ride...and that the defense deserves the MVP trophy. LOL. Not yet. They open late and my almost 90 FIL doesn’t do crowds well so we tend to eat early. Did try Celio’s recently. Surprised to find good healthy food in Paris.

How you can stand living around 30 with all that construction. Told my wife the next time we leave Paris to visit Houston/Galveston, we are stopping in Palestine to see her cousin. Anything to avoid 30 East. (I10 from Winnie to after Lake Charles is trying to compete. With 70MPH FMs, State and U.S. highways, driving the interstates just about aren’t worth it..

Post Oak is the ONLY way to go, central Texas style, kosher salt and coarse black pepper (no rubs), no sauce, the brisket and smoke is all the flavor necessary if done right. some of my most recent cooks this summer:

"H-E-B" has the best boneless whole turkey breasts and jalapeno cheddar sausage. I am picking up my annual half side of beef (1/2 Wagyu 1/2 Angus) in a few weeks...can't wait.

I take the back roads as much as possible myself, we have about 5 years to go and then we are heading east, probably Arkadelphia where the grandkids are but I am not against Mt Vernon or Mt Pleasant either. I love Clarksville, especially the country club off of 37, we play in a couple of tournaments each year up there.

Understandable given the way 2023 ended and the biggest changes outside of DC was 2 rookies, a career ST LB and CJGJ.

2024 has the benefit of hindsight though. We’ll see what 2026 brings.

No team would allow their best players to play a football All Star game in the middle of the season. There's no chance that would happen. Also if every team has a bye then there's no TV money that week. That also would never happen. What makes more sense is an 18 game season with 2 byes. That's a 20-week TV schedule

Another point to be made here is that the core of this defense is in year 3 of Fangio and not year 1. The peak of knowledge and performance abilities should align well. Also, the new guys have a lot of players to lean on to assimilate quickly.

Yeah, saying 10 wins, they will struggle, and they don't think they have it this year isn't sunshine. I take issue with it the same way you seem to take issue with me saying there is no reason to believe this team will struggle this year. And no kidding they have to prove it.

I don’t take issue with you at all. I didn’t even quote you to begin with. People can be optimistic all they want. What I take issue with is the slightest of criticism or not drinking the kool aid is labeled as miserable and negative.

Every other major sport does just fine with it. The Pro Bowl already became a flag football game. It’s a glorified exhibition week with a flag football game and skills competitions. If it doesn’t pan out, you still have the framework for 2 bye weeks for each team. Adding a largely worthless week 18, extending the season further…reducing the off season and exposing the players to more chance to injury makes less sense IMO.

I think the defense carries the offense again 🤷‍♂️

'24 D for PHI was dominant by years end, not '85 Bears great, but great once the early season struggles against the run were addressed. What they did to KC in the SB was master class, 6 points through 3 qtrs? Outstanding.
