To answer that question you have to use all the available data present. The only data we have for 2026 unfortunately is data based on what we have to this point.

What would even be the point of asking that question if we have to ignore what transpired during the 2024 season? It would make the question totally pointless. What we thought about the 2024 group before the season started is no longer relevant. You're viewing the question through the wrong lens. The right way is to try to give the most informed view on what group is better. You're viewing it philosophically, which doesn't apply here.

Here is a similar comparison that may help you. Imagine you are doing a wine comparison taste test of two bottles of Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon, from two different vintages two years apart. How good of a comparison would you be able to do if the older bottle has no wine in it because it has already been consumed, but the younger bottle is still unopened.

We have a Rudy's in Santa Fe. Literally, order it to be at our doorstep when we get back home from Mexico. I would agree that the locations vary though. I like the moist brisket from the Albuquerque location better but not enough to drive an hour to get it lol.

The Lions and Browns both went 4-0 in the preseason the years they went 0-16.

The only people who actually care about preseason are degenerate gamblers. For everyone else it's just a 3 hour long practice played primarily by guys you'll never hear of again in 2 weeks

I understand it's not a great comparison, but it's still a better comparison than August 2024 vs August 2026 DTs. I understand the point you're trying to make, I'm telling you comparing August 2024 DTs vs August 2026 DTs is a totally pointless exercise. It has absolutely no value to compare them because we know how the 2024 DTs turned out. So our feelings on the Eagles 2024 DTs in August of 2024 are totally obsolete.

2024 DTs vs August 2026 comparison isn't a great one, but sometimes thems the breaks. And that makes it fun anyway, because we can look back 5 months from now and see if it turned out to be right or wrong.

2024 vs 2026 defense is impossible to tell right now. If you just say projected over the whole year and not counting the Dean injury, 2024 was so deep. We were legit at every single spot AND we had a bunch of top end players.

I will say, Sweat kinda got overrated off that one game. He was often a pain in the ass here with how undisciplined he played the run, and he was more good than great as a rusher. If Greenard comes back healthy and Hunt keeps it up, 2026 will be significantly better at edge.

@mattwill and @Sack that QB arguing reminds me of the dinner scene in Scary Movie 2 where Chris Elliott and David Cross go back and fourth with insults.

I think Cooper will. Maybe Weru and Steele. I'd expect Trotter and Mondon to play and they are locks. I'm sure there are offensive linemen that need to play.

Greenard over Sweat??He hasn’t practiced yet and BG was having a productive campaign that season before getting injured in the Rams game. Last year Smith and Hunt as the starters clearly didn’t work and we had to make a desperate trade and bring back BG.

Not being pessimistic, just realistic.

Knowing they drafted a guy who will take time and then complaining about his progression a few weeks into his first summer is ridiculous

I don’t think Mondon is a lock. He didn’t really do much last year (and yes I know he rarely played other than special teams but he didn’t exactly shine there either) and he certainly hasn’t flashed (in a positive light) these past two games.

Why is everyone overvaluing Sweat in 24? Outside of the superbowl he was very average.

I genuinely forgot he was on the roster until last weeks game. He hasn't seemingly popped in TC, didn't really do much against the Ravens and feels like a Lawson or Chance Campbell may well have overtaken him for a roster spot.

I'm more optimistic. You are correct about last season. No argument. The argument for optimism is that in pro sports, for the most part, one season is not a predictor of the next season. Raleigh for the Mariners is the current, mist obvious example. Dean was a good one for the Eagles recently. Davis too. I think if realism is your point of view, relying on the past to predict the future ( for pro athlete performance) can be unreliable. We can make arguments on both sides, but it is very uncommon for guys to really good every season. It's more common for them to fluctuate. My optimism for DE is they fluctuate to pretty good this season.

Ive been worried about his party ways because 1 bad game changes fans attitude towards him when they find out what hes been up to off the field.

But he keeps preforming.

More than anything this year, Im concerned about the mass he put on for his pretend safety role affecting his ability to be quick enough in the slot.
