If we end this season .500 or below I'm pretty sure one of Doug or Howie is gone.

I think it would have to be at least 2 seasons in a row below .500 before a move is made.  Lurie is a very patient owner.

If you read any of my posts in the game day thread I said a few times that Wentz is not elite and wont be.  We all need to realize that.

Its year 5 and he is still:

Throwing high.

Holding the ball too long.

Has no pocket presence.

Doesnt secure the ball in the pocket leading to fumbles.

Wont throw it away to avoid a sack.

Wont slide or go out of bounds to avoid hits and also leads to fumbles.

If anyone thinks he's elite(Colin Cowherd, Dan Orlovsky) then they're fooling themselves.  He is not.  However, he is still a good QB.  He has flaws and has bad games sometimes but he's still a good QB.  McNabb was never elite and played just as bad sometimes yet we rode with him thru good and bad.  Wentz is a better QB than McNabb.

Not like we can just easily get a Mahomes, Russell Wilson or Rodgers in the draft or FA.  Elite QBs are just that cuz they're rare.

People saying trade him are overreacting?  Yes, big time.

Un-coachable, basically. Very talented, smart guy, sometimes brilliant, sometimes awful, does not improve, will not change. Which is curious, because he has shown the ability and willingness to learn and grow with respect to leadership, social justice concerns of teammates, etc. But he will not get the ball out, will not throw it away, will not protect the football. 5 years in, this is who he is

I've said this multiple times today, but Wentz always wants the big play instead of the smart play.

Throw the ball away instead of trying to avoid a sack. Go down and protect yourself instead of trying to escape a sack.

Take a play that moves the freaking chains instead of the big play.

The guy refuses to adapt his game and it is getting old.

This is why Pederson needs to get in to his face and get on to him about it and bench Wentz if he keeps doing these things.

I hope that DP has already been doing that.  If not then he is a bigger problem.

Doug.  Howie is Lurie's guy, right or wrong, and watches his shekels.  Doug, on the other hand, messed up the coaching changes and someone had to step in.  Don't think he was too happy about that.  If Wentz is still going sideways by season's end, then chances are Doug may want out of here.  Could all change though if Wentz gets hurt and Hurts comes in and lights it up.

Been trying to find a replay of that play, but it was clear as day on the initial TV replay.

So you're right.  McNabb carried them on his back all by himself his first 4 years 😄.  Carried the team to numerous, consecutive NFCCG's.  Nobody else did anything, just him.  It's a damn shame he didnt win MVP for 4 straight years.  McNabb was robbed for sure.

Now...did I say that?? Now you are just being sarcastic for no reason at all....you got my point, no need to explain it again....

You guys need to see the silver lining on all of this.  We can now appreciate how good we actually had it with McNabb and can look forward to a fresh offensive start with Hurts next year.

What's wrong with being sarcastic?

You did say he had nothing.  So he must have carried them during those NFCCG appearances.  Too bad he didnt show up in the actual game itself.

And btw, I love McNabb.  But I call out flaws when i see them just like with Carson, who has many flaws himself.

I mean McNabb got us 0 SBs.  Still love the guy but....

At least during Wentz's era we got a SB.  I know he was hurt but he was a big reason why we had the #1 seed and home field.

Come on man...be real. He had trash receivers and you know it. He was a large reason we went to those appearances. No, he didn't show up in the game itself (but Wentz didn't either, did he?)....

I can be sarcastic as well. But I get it....you are a Wentz fan and there is nothing wrong with that. I was, too, at one point but that time is over...he is what he is unless he does a major turnaround.....

To be fair Wentz hasnt had the chance.  Rookie year the team blew.  2nd year he was the MVP, got hurt and didnt have the chance to play in the playoffs.  3rd year was recovering from acl then had the back injury.  4th year he got them into the playoffs with no WRs but was hurt by a dirty hit from Clowney.   I admit he's somewhat injury prone and just has had bad luck with injuries.

I'm not a Wentz fan in particular.  I'm an Eagles fan and he's our QB like it or not.

It's just some of you are so quick to get rid of him without a better option being available.

I agree he is what he is.  We have to accept that.  But it's not like we can just go to the store and get a Mahomes or Russell Wilson.

Honestly, I fully expect him to bounce back.  If not then we're screwed.

I'm not arguing that Wentz didn't suck on Sunday, but both of your statements here don't make any sense.  He didn't show up out of shape at all.  And to say it was ages ago.........it was LITERALLY his last 4 games last season.

Ok agree on all points but I am not ready to just get rid of him I STILL want him to succeed I am just not seeing it at this point in his five year career. I think he should be rid of the rookie mistakes already...I think he should work on his mechanics more. I was reminded in another thread that he got ertz killed last year with his overthrowing...I am not a wentz fan in particular either and I have stood behind every QB we have had from AJ Feeley to Kevin Kolb. I want them to succeed for the sake of the team's overall success, absolutely. I am just of the opinion that he has already reached his ceiling and is regressing. One more time I WANT him to succeed, its not like I am rooting for him to fail. But after five years? I have watched enough football over the years to know that by year five, a QB has shown what he is going to be. Honestly, I am being pessimistic here and rightly so for the pattern I am seeing.

yes it was. my friend and i were debating if it was a designed play, but it seemed like he just slowed up for a step or two IMO.

i would love to see that replay also to see if wentz was possibly hit during the throw.

yeah he isnt joel embiid. the guy came in with more muscle weight, that seems the opposite of out of shape.

Maybe coaching changes might help. I mean they just change offensive coaches but maybe DP isnt getting thru to him.

What gives me hope is that Matt Ryan was always known as a good QB.  They hired Kyle Shanahan and Ryan got better in year 8 or whatever it was.  They went to the SB.

My point is coaches make a big difference.  I dont know what goes on behind the scenes.  I hope the coaches are telling him not to do these things but who knows.  If this keeps up another year or 2 then either Wentz or DP needs to go.

For all the people wanting to get rid of Wentz or move on what's your solution to doing that? His contract pretty much eliminates cutting or trading him. Do you just bench him and play someone else and if so who? Do you really think Hurts is ready?? They don't even have him ahead of Sudfeld at this point.

This is why don't extend a QB with major question marks two years earlier than you have to.

Again, I completely agree with you. I am hoping he turns this around....I would love to see 2017 again.....

We all do bud. Unfortunately I just think as time goes by that becomes more unrealistic. And at some point perhaps we have to accept the reality which is that he's a QB who's capable of jaw dropping plays but also he's inconsistent and makes bone headed errors.

So he is just an above average QB that has some flaws that is acceptable and can still win a lot of games. People need to stop acting like him not being a top 3 elite qb is a bad thing. It's not even a little.

1. His contract doesn’t prohibit a trade. Some team would take him and probably try to rework the contract. If his options are to either sit the bench making bank, or take a slight decrease to go start somewhere, I would hope the competitor in him wants to play.

As far as Sudfeld, you have to take the QB depth chart with a grain of salt sometimes. The plan is likely to stick with Sudfeld as two of to be the QB who goes in mid-game if Wentz gets hurt, as you don’t want to throw a rookie into that situation.   It if it’s going to be multiple starts, I’m pretty confident Hurts would get the nod. And all the camp reports pretty much had Hurts as the better WB during camp.
