EMB Blog: 2026 Regular Season (Part 1)

The defense is fine for the most part. They gave up 20 points (13 if you’re excluding the near pick 6 Jalen threw) on the road in 100 degree weather.

My biggest disappointment on the defense is the little impact I’m noticing from Carter and Davis. Simmons was the best DT on the field today.

Well Simmons was facing a vastly inferior interior OL.

Im not worried about the defense. This is their MO without preseason. They always look sloppy the first 3 or 4 games with missed tackles, letting up explosive plays etc. I have no doubt they will eventually round into form.

The two things I worry about with the defense is more things that I had worried about going into the year. Can Epps and Mukuba last for 17 games at safety. Not sure that happens. The other was can Campbell be a good run defender. Cause I didn’t think he was good when Dean was out last year. It’s an area he needs to improve. I’m hoping he gets better over the course of this season, but if he stays like this, they need to start considering using trotter on early downs

This commander/Dallas game is a lot closer if the officials could actually call Fing touchdown correctly

If they decide to bench Jurgens they have to put Lampkin at center, you can’t have a 5’10 guard. I know they like Kendall’s line calls or whatever. Figure it out with Lampkin, he’ll be fine.

Each year the D improved as the season went on and was iffy early in season.

Happy for Nakobe. One of his issues was injuries and it’s only been 2 games so that’s not settled but I hope he stays healthy

We got the win that will erase the bad for people but it really shouldn't have been that close to begin with

Get excited!!!

The 2025 and 2026 drafts provided the eagles with players that just don’t do much.

The heater had to end eventually.

a good way to end it was bringing back Joe Douglas.

I’m assuming the rationale is they think Kendall may have a future as the center here.

Jurgens and Dickerson are both dead men walking. Lampkin is not a serious option at either position.

So if they can at least get things going at center with Kendall, maybe they could trade for a guard at the deadline. OL trades are kind of rare, but that’s what they need. And a LG can plug in better than a center.

My hot takes from the game. Hot takes, I understand, but I can’t change what I see:

  1. The 2026 eagles are of the 2023 and 2025 lineage, not 2022 or 2024.

  2. The OL will be bad all year. RIP Barkley and running game. It’s not going to be improved.

  3. Jalen Hurts is clutch and a winner, but he’s not a good passer and not a good fit for the offense. We are going to learn that very slowly.

  4. The offense is very low on talent.

  5. Lemon is a gadget player until proven otherwise (and until utilized otherwise). Unfair to call him a bust but he’s absolutely on the fast track to becoming one.

If you can't enjoy today's win, I don't know what to tell you.

You are aware they nearly lost in consecutive weeks to 2 of the 5 worst teams in the nfl.

You can enjoy the end result but not be happy about what happened before it. 24-20 against the freaking Titans

As with most of our wins since like 2023, it was a pretty agonizing game. Not all that enjoyable.

I do agree he could back off on the negativity a bit. Points 4 and 5 are kinda ridiculous and make you just kind of discard the whole post.

And, thats what many of you need to get better at. Stop getting so upset when someone posts something you dont agree with.

Surely he is happy that the eagles won today.

Unless I’m missing something I don’t remember the titans being that great

They almost lost to the Titans who might win 3 games this year.

I’m glad they won but it’s more than fair to be critical of this win.

I fail to grasp how this could be considered a talented offense.

On a positive note… Wicks has been legit. He’s 2017 Nelson Agholor, maybe a tad better. I’ll take it as the #2.

Seriously though

Why can't we run an effective screen like other teams? It's a pretty simple concept but we seem to fail with every OC. It's at the point where you just want them to throw away the idea and stop doing them

His point 4 if you compare the talent on this team offensively to 2024, then yes he is right on the premise it’s not as talented (wouldn’t call it low talent though). That was an all-time stacked loaded offensive team. You had the best offensive line in football, you had two pro bowl/all pro wide receivers, the best running back in the league and a very good tight end. The odds you were ever gonna put together a roster like that again was very slim. Which is why the Eagles needed to take advantage of having that type of roster and win a Super Bowl. They’re not like the worst team ever talent wise. They just aren’t 2024 talent.

That said, I tend to think the offensive line is going to look better as games move forward. Remember, they’re learning an entirely new offense and an entirely new blocking scheme. Lane Johnson today had issues at times. It’s not because Lane Johnson just sucks all of a sudden. You’re learning something new. When you learn something new and you have to think about it instead of naturally and instinctively just doing it, it’s going to not look perfect and clunky at times. Once they get by that you hope they can just takeoff at that point. There’s enough talent on this offense to be a good offense.

As for lemon, this kind of goes back to he sat out almost all summer. He’s behind and where he should be because he had a hamstring in minicamps. And then a hamstring and training camp. So he’s further behind what he should be. I don’t know if he’s gonna be good or if he’s gonna be bad. This goes back to what happened with the Phillies. Everybody was like oh Andrew painter just sucks. No Andrew painter just didn’t pitch much in two years because of an injury and he needed more time to get himself back.

Lampkin could be a long term solution at center. He was good in college, has looked good so far when he's played with the Eagles. All he's done is produce when he plays football. I don't think you can write him off just because of his height.

It makes sense if you still arent liking Wicks, and you dont believe in Lemon.

Perhaps when you come around on then youll be more impressed.
