September 20Sep 20 I'm pretty sure we got better at Center today. And have a long term answer. So that's one less issue to worry about. Can Cam Jurgens be average at LG? He played a top guy today and never played the position, so willing to wait that answer out a little longer. But not much....
September 20Sep 20 The Ravens lost to the Saints. The Browns beat the Bucs. The Packers escaped the Jets. The Raiders beat the Chargers. The Eagles were clearly the better team today, and it was only close because of a red zone INT.

That was an all-time stacked loaded offensive team. You had the best offensive line in football, you had two pro bowl/all pro wide receivers, the best running back in the league and a very good tight end. The odds you were ever gonna put together a roster like that again was very slim. Which is why the Eagles needed to take advantage of having that type of roster and win a Super Bowl. They’re not like the worst team ever talent wise. They just aren’t 2024 talent. That said, I tend to think the offensive line is going to look better as games move forward. Remember, they’re learning an entirely new offense and an entirely new blocking scheme. Lane Johnson today had issues at times. It’s not because Lane Johnson just sucks all of a sudden. You’re learning something new. When you learn something new and you have to think about it instead of naturally and instinctively just doing it, it’s going to not look perfect and clunky at times. Once they get by that you hope they can just takeoff at that point. There’s enough talent on this offense to be a good offense. As for women, this kind of goes back to he sat out almost all summer. He’s behind and where he should be because he had a hamstring in #MIN camp. And then a hamstring and training camp. So he’s further behind what he should be. I don’t know if he’s gonna be good or if he’s gonna be back. This goes back to what happened with the Phillies. Everybody was like oh Andrew painter socks. No Andrew painter just didn’t pitch much in two years because of an injury and he needed more time to get himself back.I thought Lane said this would be easier on the Oline because they're supposed to get help?

But you still have to know the blocking scheme as well as new offense down. And you have to do it instinctively. I don’t think they’re doing it instinctively yet. I think there’s a lot of guys along that line are thinking about what they have to do and what their assignment is. Instead of just knowing it and doing it.

Or at least, I think it has a chance to.Part of it is theyre all learning the new system. While it may be "fun", and "letting the athletes be athletes up front", and "beating the man in front of you" there is still learning to do when there is more than 1 man in front of you. Theyll figure out blitzes as time goes on. And, we have finally seen a willingness to move on from players who are injured and not able to get the job done. So Jurgens will grow in to his new position, or he will likely be replaced. Our new center should mature in his job as well. There are plenty of reasons to believe in a natural progression for the OL to improve.

I think it’s harder in game to adjust to your start quarterback going out than it is when you have a week to prepare. Plus I actually think the bear is back up bagent is OK. I don’t think he’s great, but I actually think he could be competent.Well Daboll is the OC. Saleh is defense. Daboll called a decent game today. Johnson had his hands full with Flores today. Imagine Bears fans are thinking Flores week 2 and Fangio week 3.

Still to early. For as much of a downgrade Campbell is in his 2nd year from one of the leagues best LBs in Dean, Dean didn't hit his stride till his 3rd year and was behind where Cakpbell ks right now in his 2nd year.

On your point, imo he is also better as an offensive mind than daboll.

September 20Sep 20 I choose to be optimistic that the team will grow. I think that the early INT made the game a lot closer than it would be 9 times out of 10.

He’s gonna get more reps. He’s gonna get more time. He’s going to look better as the season continues. Whether he lives up to his pick is another story. So I’m thinking the wide receiving room is gonna look better as a year goes on. The one area of concern on offense besides oline needs to be better, is the tight end position. Cause Dallas got hurt already. And you really don’t have anybody behind him in terms of receiving threat. Which is an issue cause Stowers was never gonna be ready this year for a major leap and goedert always gets hurt

September 20Sep 20 That felt like a job-saving FG make from Elliott today. I don’t know what the leash is on him, but I can imagine he felt relieved draining that.
September 20Sep 20 11 minutes ago, Sack that QB said:Lampkin could be a long term solution at center. He was good in college, has looked good so far when he's played with the Eagles. All he's done is produce when he plays football. I don't think you can write him off just because of his height.Lampkin has okay armlength for an interior OLmen and the height helps with leverage, it’s the weight that’s the issue as he doesn’t have room to pack on more.
September 20Sep 20 So here's the reason why I'm so nihilistic about the OL...When an NFL body is breaking down, you typically get the most out of them in the opening frames of the season. With Cam Jurgens, you guys see an inevitable, gradual improvement at LG as he adjust to the position. I see the likelihood that he'll get even worse as his body and back break down further into the meat grinder of the season. I see that the dreaded RT musical chairs has not even kick started yet (if you superimpose that on what the OL is already experiencing, it's game over). This is an OL that was supposed to be its best version of itself in the very beginning of the season with the major concern of how they would weather wear and tear.....and they are starting off as a crap show.

Except they’re learning an entirely new offense with an entirely new blocking scheme. Some of the early season struggles can be attributed to that. imo don’t think this is all they are past their primes and they are done.I think some of this is they’re learning an entirely new offense and a new blocking scheme. First two games as we don’t use the preseason for it. So got that rust. it’s gonna take them time for it to be instinctual and second nature. Heck for Jurgens it’s the first time he’s ever played left guard and he hasn’t played guard in 3 years. Also considering the fact Simmons is one of the better defense tackles in the league is a lot in first game back. So you’re asking him to do it in his first game at LG ever and his first game at guard in like three years and play it at a high level. It is kind of a lot to ask.

September 21Sep 21 I don’t think I remember anyone saying that this year the offensive line was going to be its best version of itself. I’m pretty sure we saw that in 2024. I think most were just hoping for a healthier version, and improved depth. I also don’t think many people were really holding out that much hope for Dickerson… I can’t speak for everyone, but I knew his fuse was going to be very short. Unfortunately, he’s just a broken body at this point. There’s definitely a reason to believe that their depth has improved. I expect the line to improve over time. I’m not sure Jurgens is the answer at LG, but I do think Kendall is a keeper. Not sure why they did what they did today, but I’m sure they had their reasons. I was expecting to see Kendall at LG, and eventually Lampkin at center if Jurgens did not play well or was not healthy. I don’t care about Lampkin’s size… I would feel confident with him in there.

He was overrated because of the reputation of the Eagles O-Line. Playing between Becton and prime Dickerson hid some of his flaws. The cap hit for moving on is huge. Gotta hope he can be playable for the next two years. Eagles need to draft O Line heavy the next couple of years.
