Draft, free agency, something.

I'm not sure any TE's that can play changed teams this year though. And I'm not sure they passed on anyone in the draft that has been ready to contribute so far. I get mad when they pass on players I liked that amounted to something.

But I think the natural decay of the position led them here and there wasn't a ton they could do about it.

I’m sure that didn’t help, but Nakobe isn’t really a great athlete as he is lacking length and range. We essentially kept him clean against the run and blitzed him (strength) rather than put him in coverage (weakness).

Dean was still a better prospect coming out. He fell into the draft because of injury and durability concerns. But he was an overall better prospect than Trotter. And this isn’t Trotter sucks. I think he’d be fine. But it was around the third year that Dean hit his stride frankly I think Dean had a higher ceiling than trotter.

I love Saquon as much as anyone, but... more Tank Bigsby please. Saquon dances a little too much at times and with this OL they need someone who will just hit it and get nasty.

We did miracles on 3rd and long today, but Tank does consistently fall forward which might help keep the offense on schedule. Perhaps once the OL starts opening holes Saquon will be better the choice to exploit the explosives… but right now it seems like survival mode.

Njoku and Jonnu smith got paid next to nothing. Both were better no. 2s then we had. Heck Darren Waller just had 2 TD catches today and making $1.3 mil. There were cheap options to improve the depth out there. We knew Stowers wasn’t gonna be ready.

I’d argue njoku and Jonnu smith for what they signed for would’ve been better depth imo than mundt and jenkins. Not a shot at mundt. He is what he is. A really good 3rd tight end that can block. Both of those guys got paid peanuts.

Howie deserve a lot of credit for the roster he constructed, but after they won the Super Bowl we knew it was close to the end for Goedert. he waited til 2026 draft to do much. unfortunately, we all knew Stowers was gonna take a year or even longer for him to finally get up to speed

Njoku is a better player, for sure (than Mundt). But he's also worse than Goedert with injuries and just got carted off today. Mundt doesn't miss time. Granted, he may not miss time because he hardly ever gets time.

Moro has been the best lineman through two games thus far. Would be nice if Greenard can suit up next week. Jalyx seemed to be disruptive today but didn’t appear much in the stat sheet.

Lampkin could be a long term solution at center. He was good in college, has looked good so far when he's played with the Eagles. All he's done is produce when he plays football. I don't think you can write him off just because of his height.

You’re completely discounting what we’ve seen from Kendall at C here though. Who IMHO is a far better C than Lampkin.

1st 10 games:

2022: 9-1

2023: 9-1

2024: 8-2

2025: 8-2

2026: 2-0

Let's go, everything is on pace just fine.

I am philosophically opposed to his presence on the field. Catches everything thrown his way is one way to put it, but he's a complete non factor in the receiving game.

He's a 245lb 6th offensive lineman that doesn't demand coverage. Just like Stowers (or later career Ertz) is a sluggish WR that can't get open against DBs.

A TE is only a threat if they can participate in blocking and receiving. If they are so lopsided in what they bring to the field, it's a predictable assignment to the defense. Might as well put another WR or OT on the field. Caveat to that is a Jimmy Graham type who was a horrible blocker but so good as a receiver he really was a WR. And Mundt isn't the Jimmy Graham of blocking TE's.

Your concept of what certain players do and should do is not congruent with mine.

It must suck to watch a game we won in exciting fashion and just think about moves we could have made that we didn’t. That’s the way it works in the league. We also made a great move with Wicks. If you can’t be happy that’s a you issue not about the Eagles not signing or picking a guy

Ok don’t go njoku. Could signed Waller or Jonnu smith. There were cheap options that they could have signed for depth. I’m not saying those guys are world beaters. But your depth would’ve been much better and Stowers was realistically going to be unreliable as a rookie. We knew he was a project.

Like you’re gonna have to sign Zach Ertz. Zach Ertz is coming off a knee injury. So any of those guys are in the same boat as him in terms of depth

Furthermore, moving on goedert discussion started prior to 2024. I don’t think they’ve had a great plan the past couple of years knowing goedert’s decline as a blocker and injury past.

How has Mundt been rough? He blocks and he catches everything thrown his way.

He looked pretty good out there today. Blocks quite well, soft hands, was open when needed.

but I can imagine he felt relieved draining that.

Look, I was nervous about out WR room outside of Devonte but Jalen is doing a great job at getting everyone involved (This is exactly what I believed would happen once AJ left, he would just spread the ball around) and Wicks is really making some clutch catches. Lemon is a work in progress, he's a rookie. But overall, I"m happy with what i'm seeing. Of course Devonta was gonna explode. Washington clouded him to take him out of the game.

Watching the Colts/KC I am loving Quentin Nelson vs. Chris Jones. Two of the best who’ve ever played going head to head.

Frankly should’ve signed mundt and another vet after the draft considering most viewed Stowers as a project. I am guessing it’s gonna be Zach Ertz. But I am curious if he’s even gonna be ready to play next week if goedert is out.

A TE can run a route or they can block. A TE with a severe weakness needs enough value in his specialty to compensate for the options the offense loses by playing him. That limits his role unless his strength as a blocker (or receiver) is exceptional. And Mundt is not THAT good as a blocker.

We finally won in Tennessee for the first time ever. I think it was the only, not recently opened, stadium left where we hadn't.

Compared to whom? Name one who can actually catch a pass and is still playing.

Wicks has certainly been a find so far. I had no faith in him or in the Eagles' ability to find someone like that under the radar. He's not explosive or a matchup problem, but the hand criticisms have been non-existent and he's been outstanding at settling into soft spots in the zone and getting after the football with strong catches.

I find it a bit funny all training camp we heard the OL rave about how much they liked the scheme because it was simple and easy to execute. They certainly don't look like they fully understand it nor are they executing it well. I get there's been injuries, but man oh man. I'm confident they will bring it together, but that interior is going through a blender right now.

The offense played very well considering in was 1,000 degrees, Barkely was out the 1st half, and Goedert went down early. There needs to be faster adjustments coming out of the half, because that 3rd quarter was painful. Run game needs work, but that seems to be more about the interior OL right now.

While they were ugly, its encouraging to see Hurts throwing picks. He will learn from them, but he's also growing out of those more comfortable and conservative throws. Hurts is at his best when he trusts his receivers and lets them make plays.

Braden Mann... wow. Those punts were insane and really flipped field position.

The real issue was falling for a combine warrior in Stowers when there better all around prospects available.

I'm saying he (along with every TE I'm aware of in the NFL) is not sufficiently exceptional as a blocker to be a steadily used 11th player on offense if they are going to be a non-entity as a receiver.
