Hopefully this changes.I don't think it's like that at all. It feels like the team can be very good if they can run the ball effectively. The passing game looks better and progressed from week 1. Vic's defenses usually improve as the season continues. In 2023, they had no answer to the blitz for the entire season. The defense was a shambles in the secondary the entire season. 2025 was just a bland offense that could not run the ball to the same level it had the season before.

Just a nice solid mediocre level would be enough behind this D assuming the D comes on as we all expect it to as the year progresses. We'll almost win the division by default - NY and Washington lost QB1, and Dallas' defense remains horrible.

Now those weren’t good teams so that’s a concern. We’ll find out more each weekI wouldn't say smoke and mirrors or flukey necessarily, but I feel like the offense has been a bit too reliant on big plays, especially on 3rd down. It can work against bad teams but they certainly need to improve on better first and second downs as the season goes on against better teams and in the playoffs.

September 24Sep 24 FWIW Jesse Bates salary is super high. You’d be absorbing a lot of cap to trade for him. That would impact your ability to re-sign other guys in offseason
September 24Sep 24 I studied this safety position for possible trades this offseason out of the known names (Delpit, Baker, Bates and Reid). The most appealing one was acquiring Justin Reid. Tolerable cap hit and had interest coming to Eagles. Said it himself. But got outbid by Saints. Saints are starting out better than most thought, so probably unlikely. But who knows. If an NFL team trades for safety Justin Reid from the New Orleans Saints during the 2026 season, they would only incur a maximum base cap hit of $1,309,180.Because the Saints restructured his contract ahead of the 2026 league year, converting $7.95 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, New Orleans remains responsible for all prorated signing and restructure bonuses. The acquiring team's financial responsibility is broken down below:2026 Trade Cap Hit BreakdownBase Salary: $1,300,000Workout Bonus: $9,180Total Maximum Hit: $1,309,180 (This number prorates downward based on the exact week of the season the trade occurs).Future Years on the DealJustin Reid's contract runs through the 2027 season. A team trading for him would inherit the following final year on his contract:2027 Cap Hit: $9,370,000 (consisting of his scheduled $9.25 million base salary and a $120,000 roster/workout bonus

You could get Atlanta to eat that by paying an option bonus before the trade, but then you'd have to give more draft compensation.

They won’t make a trade for a month anyway probably so we’ll see where Saints are
September 24Sep 24 Think a lot on here were on the take Xavier Watts over Andrew Mukuba train in last years draft. Watts has looked pretty good.
September 24Sep 24 Find it funny that the league loves to acquire our safeties. Sydney Brown, Gush and Pulley. Probably no world beaters there, but did like Gush. He may be better in the slot though. And ironically we got nothing on the field or pipeline to brag about. Still feel like this gets sorted out with Makuba and Moore in the end as your starters. Or someone acquired at the trade deadline. Moore isn't that old. Just turned 31 and had a solid season last year. Between all these guys and Cooper they should figure it out. But, Howie needs to revisit this position in offseason unfortunately. Could have sworn he would draft EMW, with Q here. Surprising, as he fell right in our laps.

We ended up with Ty Robinson, who has looked pretty scrubby since he's been here.

September 24Sep 24 Was curious on what our 2027 opponents were looking like and turns out we get the return of AJ Brown in Philly.
