Last year Howie traded for Tank Bigsby after the regular season started. Jay Ajayi was an October trade.

That's wild when they might have the best unit in all of football, their defense. Offense still has the talent to be above average and the new offensive scheme at least sounds exciting in how different it sounds from what we have seen here.

I think they are one of maybe 4-5 teams in the league that can possibly stand in the Rams way from winning a championship.

@mattwill

Eagles 38

Redskins 13

DeVonta Smith - 9 receptions for 138 yards and 2 TDs.

He was obviously a previously banned member. I called him out on it not long after he started posting and people tried to clown me for it. I've had him on ignore since.

The irony.

What irony? I never made a burner account when I got banned. I was just banned permanently. I did my time. Hard time.

Either Howie didn't make a move because simply nothing worth doing was available or he's preserving as many picks as possible because if this season doesn't go as expected I could see a major overhaul on the offensive side of the roster and I don't think it'll just be QB and head coach who could be outta here. Depending on how this season goes, next season could be a "step back for a year and retool" season and to do that you need picks.

Right now I'm leaning toward the former, but Howie always has his eyes on the future.

I love that RT is likely taken care of. I think we can really pick between needing to make a move for a QB, or see if you can get Smith

That seems like an extreme reaction to the Eagles not trading for a depth TE or safety. It's the NFL and anything can happen of course but Howie is generally shifting the money to the defense so they aren't trading for anyone else who needs to get paid etc.

It feels like this dead time is just causing people to panic over Mannion & the offense.

Doesn't really have anything to do with them not making a trade, I think this season is put up or shut up in Howie's and Lurie's minds on multiple fronts. Head coach, QB, and the offense as a whole. I think it's been that way since January and remains the case now.

This offense was bad last year. The running game was great in 2024, but the passing offense sucked. The offense in 2023 wasn't very good either. Would put up points in some games, but started slow every game, was clunky, turned the ball over, they made an OC change for a reason. Really, since 2022 this offense has not performed up to the standard that Jeff Lurie and Howie have desired or have paid for. This offseason's had the most change offensively in the Sirianni era. Typically, when you make a big change to try to salvage something...and make no mistake, that's exactly what the moves this offseason have been...and things don't go well, people are going to lose their jobs. It's just what it is. And I think it's perfectly logical. If the offense this season is as bad as it was last season Howie and Lurie will ask themselves "Why are we going to pay our QB 50-60m per season for a bad offense?" and "If our offense stinks and we have an offensive head coach and we keep needing to change things around him and the offense stinks anyway, then what are we doing here?"

Now I guess it's possible the offense could suck again and the Eagles still have a successful season if the defense really is that good, but if the offense is bad, expect a lot of change on that side of the ball. The most change we've seen with the team in years. And if the offense is good, then I of course would expect the status quo going forward.

Sure if the offense sucks then there will be changes. That was always the case. And I agree you'd have to think about bringing a great O mind as HC tho the results are more mixed on that then people like to admit. That's an of year discussion. Or for some people here it's a discussion to have after the first 3 and out in game 1 :)
