EMB Blog: 2026 Regular Season (Part 1)

Featured Replies

The Eagles are controversial because of their bipolar oscillating nature. 2020...collapse. New generation in 2021 which was a rebuilding year with a not that good team. 2022 was a revelation. 2023 was a bad team. 2024 SB champs. 2025 was a decent team with a bad offense that was 1-and-done.

This is a jekyll and hyde team that has not sustained success or failure. And that is why the opinions are so mixed on the HC and franchise QB. Hard to justify moving on from them, hard to fully get behind them. I'm not saying it's SB or bust....but 2023 and 2025 were quite a bit worse than just "Not SB caliber."

Everyone in Philly seems to be taking a bounce back season for granted. And maybe that's what will happen. But often the loudest critics are the ones that just expected all this greatness and then get disappointed when it doesnt break that way once the season starts.

Sure if the offense sucks then there will be changes. That was always the case. And I agree you'd have to think about bringing a great O mind as HC tho the results are more mixed on that then people like to admit. That's an of year discussion. Or for some people here it's a discussion to have after the first 3 and out in game 1 :)

Yeah, if the offense sucks this season and the record as a result isn't what they'd hope, the only people(starting players and coaches too) I'm 100% sure will be here next season are Mailata and Devonta. I'm 90% sure Wicks will be too, but only because of the contract, and some other guys like Jurgens and a couple others I think will be as well. But not enough to say with 100% certainty. Point being, if the offense disappoints, I think almost anything is on the table in the offseason. Let's hope it never gets to that point!

QB franchise tag benchmark as a % of the salary cap, each season.

Tyler Smith will be back for the Eagles game but that's a big loss for them.

I would say the last 5 years have been sustained success. If it's not, I don't know what is.

You realize all this failure that you are distressing about during this time span is the greatest era of Eagles football where the team has made the playoffs every year for 5 seasons straight now, won the NFC East 3 times, the NFC twice and the Super Bowl once?

I would learn to enjoy the ride and the moment while it's still here.

There are many reasons the O could fail too. There’s the HE scenario where it’s on Hurts. There’s Mannion sucks. If Devonta gets hurt and the other receivers disappoint there’s that. If the OL is bad there’s that. Hopefully none of that happens

The walls are closing in on that record for them.

That seems like an extreme reaction to the Eagles not trading for a depth TE or safety. It's the NFL and anything can happen of course but Howie is generally shifting the money to the defense so they aren't trading for anyone else who needs to get paid etc.

It feels like this dead time is just causing people to panic over Mannion & the offense.

They lack depth at safety and TE. Season is over man! Panic!

Some of these fans need to go touch grass.

This is the most successful period in team history. You've witnessed 2 Super Bowl wins within 7 years after a lifetime of none. Since Lurie bought the team it's been a winning team with more hope and chance of championship than previous owners. Siri has made the playoffs every year here.

You guys post such pessimism and hopelessness as if they're the Jets, Browns or other hopeless teams.

I really don't get it.

I find it curious that so many think that if this season somehow goes pear shaped, that they will just clean house.

He cut bait on both Chip because he was a lunatic who tried to change everything, all the while making terrible decisions.

He cut bait on Doug because Doug's head got too big and fought back against the front office.

He kept AR forever even though he never won a SB here because he was beloved by the players.

Siri is loved by the players and has been to two Super Bowls while winning one of them. He never fights back against the front office and just goes with the flow. While the fans might not like him because he is combative, he is the perfect head coach for Lurie and Howie. He takes the pressure off of them and places it on himself.

Hurts is the perfect QB for them. He doesn't care about stats, he cares about winning. If that means he has to run and play ball control he will run. If that means he has to pass to win, he will pass. Terrible for fantasy but great for the team. Winning is the only thing that matters.

Hurts is like the anti Rodgers.

Even if this year is a failure, I can't see them making wholesale changes.

Slowly? Hasn’t been complete domination like us over the giants, but we have been gaining on them decade by decade longer

90s: +5

00s: +6

10s: +4

20s: +3 (and counting)

The only way there'd be wholesale changes IMO is if the team looks like a clown show. I don't see that happening so no, one bad year due to injuries or something similar it'll be oh well, onto next season.

At TE they have depth IMO. What they don’t have is injury insurance specific to Goedert.

At Safety they have depth IMO. What they don’t have is injury insurance specific to Mukuba.

"2023 was a bad team” should be the first clue of fishing

Do you have a season record prediction you want to submit?

Can't wait for this season to start, so I don't have to hear the same tired viewpoints of a few posters beat a dead horse about this offense. We already explained to you why you're wrong! Now enjoy the show....and eating crow.

Right now there is no right or wrong. Everyone is guessing. In 3 months time those who guessed one way will say they were right and the others won't say anything or have some type of excuse of why it went that way
