Can't believe no one has started pining away about Sydney yet - this would be the week for it.

Great, what am I going to do with this now?

Isn’t this a somewhat common saying? You want to be the one that sets the tone, not react to what’s happening.

I’m pretty sure Hurts used this quote at some point as well

Really tired of seeing "So and so is playing through…”

How about don’t play until you’re healthy? How does it help the team to have a guy who can’t block or can’t rush the passer out there? Let them heal up if they can’t play. JFC

Because a one armed Jalen Carter is still worlds better than Ty Robinson

Has he been though? Is he better than Ojomo right now? Has Jurgens been starter quality? It took them 18 months to realize Dickerson was done. I guess it just stands out more after a bad loss but it gets annoying.

Blankenship is one thing. He at least made some plays here even though everyone clamoring for him back is conveniently ignoring the fact he's been one of the worst defenders in the league this year so far. But if they start with Syd, we've officially lost contain.

If they look as bad as they have in 2 of the past 4 years, I think he's gone. 2023 and 2025 were completely unacceptable, idc if they made the playoffs. They looked like crap all year both years, led by idiot OCs hand picked by our idiot HC. If they looked like crap again this year, that's 3 out of 5 years they look terrible and get blown out in the playoffs.

2024 bought him last year and this year

How do you put him on the hot seat when he's literally not responsible for anything.

It's a case by case basis. Obviously Dickerson shouldn't have been playing through what he was. I don't even know if Jurgens is hurt, washed, or just struggling with a last minute transition to LG. I would be all for Carter reducing some snaps for Ojomo but I still think Carter has been the most disruptive DT even though he's not playing to his potential/what we thought he would be.

You can put it with your Roc Charmichael jersey.

They have will have assessed the short and long term risks of Carter playing, based on severity, etc. The fact he's playing shows a player committed to his team; no eating lunch in his car or any of that nonsense with Carter.

The Eagles are such a funny organization. Their leadership, Howie and Lurie, are not above discord, power struggles, and collapses leading to scapegoating. But they are also absolutely exceptional at scraping themselves up from the bottom and rebuilding something special.

Siri is sort of the perfect HC for them. He cedes most control, he's a bizarre combination of likeable and unlikeable, intense yet goofy. And, just like his franchise QB....it "doesn't look the way it should" yet he stacks wins. The ironic thing is that the best defense of Siri has the same spirit as the best defense of Hurts, yet they each have very different crowds arguing that defense on their behalf.

Siri isn't not responsible for anything (although I agree with your sentiment)...he's the game day leader, tone setter, time out taker, communicator, etc, etc. And for a team that has a knack for winning close games that they could have / should have lost, I think it's hard to argue that he's not doing a damn good job with what little responsibility he does have.

If you want Siri on the hot seat, it should be because you don't want that kind of coach. You want a coach with a plan, an AR binder and blue print. And someone who actually runs the offense. Siri is of absolutely no measure to the success or failure to the 2026 squad in that respect. We've got a brand new offense that isn't his at all.

It's the NFL. Everyone has something. If they sat everyone that was dealing with something, they wouldn't field a team. Now, chronic injuries like Dicerkson, Jurgens that severely limit their ability to play the position I agree with.

I havent watched any Raiders games this year, but I just saw Nakobe Dean's highlight reel through 3 games. That's, uh, something. Good for him.

I think Carter looks severely limited but maybe I’m just mad that we suck.

A trade deadline target I could see Howie pursuing: Xavier McKinney. If Packers are out of it I could see them trading him and we know Howie likes him as he tried to sign him a couple years ago.

Taking an off ball LB in round 1 was a mistake. It forced them to have to let Dean go. Two mistakes for me were not picking Milton Williams of the 3 non Carter DTs and then drafting a LB in 2025 which forced the Dean decision.

I saw some people say Sweat, but given his degenerative knees I get that one more.

He was breaking through the OL alot on run plays but they were going away from him. I definitely wouldnt want to sit him against the Rams.

I get letting Sweat go with the knees.

I actually get letting Dean go under the confinement of having a first round pick you need to utilize in Campbell. This defense is getting really expensive and they simply can't do a big second contract at a position with a first round pick on the bench.

But, exactly as you said, taking an off ball LB in round 2 with Dean on the roster and a big contract in Baun was a mistake. And a pretty big one. That forced them to not let Dean go.

I was the captain of the Milton Williams fan club. Absolutely loved the guy from college through draft through his time here. But re-signing him would have been really tricky and I get it.

Their policy of not re-signing guys in-season cost them Milton Williams. Also forced them to probably pay 3-4m per year more for Baun in my estimation. It's a stupid policy.

I don't get it - if Porter was unwilling to play in Pittsburgh without a new deal, why in the hell would he play in Dallas without one? They just gave up a 2nd round pick, so he has even more leverage now.

If I were his agent, I'd tall JPJ to keep saying he's hurt.

It’s a 2028 2nd rounder if I’m reading correctly, which makes this all the more interesting. Last year sauce went for a 1st and change? JPJ wants a sauce level play contract, but was basically traded for peanuts comparatively. Pretty much guaranteed they’re going to need to throw the tag on him next year. If I’m reading this correctly, the league doesn’t value him high at all to go for a 2nd in 2028. It looks like there’s a Grand Canyon level difference between his perceived self worth vs what the league sees him as.

You need to get over the Williams things…that’s just not the Eagle’s way off operating. They have a couple positions pegged as corner stone positions that they dump money into. For the most part outside of that they trust their scouts at the college and NFL level to help fill the rest of the roster. They bet on Ojomo replacing Williams production, that ended up working out. There was big money with 5th year options and extensions coming off the SB. This way of team building has netted them 2 SB’s over the past 10 years. Do they make some miscalculations and errors reading the talent in the room and around the league. Yup, so does every other team.

We can complain about the Davis extension for sure…but Williams being let go is solely based off Ojomo’s projections and really has nothing to do with Carter and Davis IMHO.

Not one person alive expected Andrew Painter to be the hero yesterday. But I'm happy to be wrong.

I disagree. They always planned to re-sign Carter. They were going to keep one of the other DTs. They chose Davis. Davis is the last of the 3 I'd have re-signed. He was considered by many to be a somewhat bust prior to last season. He had a good season but still doesn't play a high % of the snaps. Milton Williams was a rising player. I think he and Carter give you the best DT pairing in the NFL for years.

Sort of like how we're all expecting Nola to serve up a few meatballs early in tonight's game and let the game get out of reach by the 5th inning?
