October 1Oct 1 @mattwill Feel like this is going to be brutal, especially if Smitty is out.Eagles - 7Rams - 31Bonus: Eagles O puts up 4+ 3-and-outs

October 1Oct 1 @mattwill Rams 48Eagles 9There will be a postgame confrontation with Sirianni yelling at McVay and getting into his face for running up the score. It will become a national story and a meme.

You choose Carter 10 times out of 10 in that scenario. If they didn't extend Davis, they would need to draft or sign a new run stuffer. Not sure we had to make any forced choice between 2 specific players. Carter and Milt played fine and many snaps together. You could have gone cheaper on the defined NT role aspect which can be plugged with mid-round pick if OK with a 1-dimensional player. I can understand why Howie kept the option open with being able to retain Davis and Carter because the potential with both those guys is sky high. Davis has the tools to develop into a Dexter Lawrence type but outside of some spurts early last year, he doesn't consistently offer pass rush.

Bears and Rams are 2 of the losses that I calculated into that number. No one persons "guess" is not going to matter one way or the other.

We were going to pay JC and had Ojomo in the wings - I’m comfortable with the decision. Glad he had a great ‘24 postseason and got paid top dollar in another conference.I get it. What gets me is Howie totally dismissed keeping him. Didn't even make an offer. I think some people think he's infallible in here. I'll call a spade a spade, when he's good and when he's bad. And the real reason he probably didn't go there with him is he wasted the dough on Huff. Lot of compounding of errors here if you study this carefully. And always easier to do this in hindsight. But I feel comfortable in my assessments of how I have felt about this team since the Superbowl. I think he has dropped the ball a lot since. And is spinning his wheels for corrections. And probably will look decent after all of it. But that Superbowl team should not be looking like a shell of itself as it does today.

That projection should be over at this point. Maybe this is who he is. He looks pretty slow and out of shape when I'm watching. Kinda surprised. I am not here to hate on him. Like the dude. But not gonna get clouded by his draft status and the expectations here and what is reality.

Davis flashed last year but I agree with you, he hasn't developed to the best version of what we thought he could be.

At that time, I saw a guy who was arriving and a potential budding star (as he showed on the grandest stage) and the other was all but sputtering.

October 1Oct 1 Well, with no DeVonta we're going to get a glimpse into how schematic of an offense this really is versus how dependent it is on its talent. There will obviously be a dropoff, but if the entire bottom comes out and they look totally useless we'll have our answer.
October 1Oct 1 Wicks, Lemon, Cooper, Moore and Covey without Goedert as well is pretty bad. It’s a worse lineup than 2019
October 1Oct 1 @mattwill 27-17 Rams, this isn’t the week that the offense turns the corner. Greenard gets a sack/FF.
October 1Oct 1 This season is starting to give me 2019 vibes. In that during that year everyone kinda knew the Eagles weren’t very good based on what their eyes told them, but they did have a winning track record winning a SB recently, so every time they win a game it was like "Maybe…. This starts a hot streak..?” But it never came.Given that, my feeling is the Eagles get beat up pretty badly the next two games. By double digits each game. Everyone is like "Yeah the team blows this season, they’re cooked.” Then the Eagles beat the Panthers at home and people try to talk themselves into the team again for another week. Then the Eagles lose the next week to Dallas at home and that’s when the fans really start to get angry and restless. Then the Commies game after that becomes the "save the season game” where if they lose that game everyone kinda checks out and stops caring and if they win then fans still don’t really have a ton of confidence but everyone can keep that "maybe…” going for another couple weeks. That’s my temperature check on October 1st. Will reevaluate in a week.
October 1Oct 1 'I've seen better days...and the bottom drops out.'@mattwill Rams 34Eagles 20Bonus: I turn the game off after the first 3 and out to start the third quarter.

Davis sucks
October 2Oct 2 This season is starting to remind me of the injury plagued 2020 and 2012 seasons - Eagles had terrible seasons in both years, and those terrible seasons were followed by dismissal of the head coach. Time will tell.

After that we will see what this team is able to do because the division will still be there for them after this stretch of misery. But that will just be a 3 game stretch of misery. You live in an eternal misery where you have been unable to enjoy the best run and era of Eagles football led by the best QB in franchise history who already has established himself as by far the most successful.

Lemon and Wicks are going to cook. Team will focus up the same way the Bears did and be up for Sunday.
