Taking an off ball LB in round 1 was a mistake. It forced them to have to let Dean go. Two mistakes for me were not picking Milton Williams of the 3 non Carter DTs and then drafting a LB in 2025 which forced the Dean decision.

I saw some people say Sweat, but given his degenerative knees I get that one more.

I'm trying to remember who the viable options were at that point instead of Campbell (given that Howie was completely boxed out of trading up more than 1 spot). Simmons, who's having back problems and still would be a backup? Mason Taylor, who hasn't done much yet? Nicky EMW, very cool in hindsight, but duplicative of Dejean.

Simmons, Emmanwori, Will Johnson, one of the pass rushers that were talked about(Scourton, Ezeiruaku, etc). Or trade down.

I like Campbell a lot, I just don't love using firsts on non premium positions. I don't think it's maximizing value or your roster.

Think they should have focused on making him gain some weight and develop an arsenal of pass rush moves.

How do you put him on the hot seat when he's literally not responsible for anything.

Because he's the HC, he isn't responsible for anything directly but he's responsible for how the team performs. He's useless, you want a lame duck just taking up space contributing nothing forever?

Their policy of not re-signing guys in-season cost them Milton Williams. Also forced them to probably pay 3-4m per year more for Baun in my estimation. It's a stupid policy.

It is stupid and only costs them money

The Eagles are such a funny organization. Their leadership, Howie and Lurie, are not above discord, power struggles, and collapses leading to scapegoating. But they are also absolutely exceptional at scraping themselves up from the bottom and rebuilding something special.

Siri is sort of the perfect HC for them. He cedes most control, he's a bizarre combination of likeable and unlikeable, intense yet goofy. And, just like his franchise QB....it "doesn't look the way it should" yet he stacks wins. The ironic thing is that the best defense of Siri has the same spirit as the best defense of Hurts, yet they each have very different crowds arguing that defense on their behalf.

Siri isn't not responsible for anything (although I agree with your sentiment)...he's the game day leader, tone setter, time out taker, communicator, etc, etc. And for a team that has a knack for winning close games that they could have / should have lost, I think it's hard to argue that he's not doing a damn good job with what little responsibility he does have.

If you want Siri on the hot seat, it should be because you don't want that kind of coach. You want a coach with a plan, an AR binder and blue print. And someone who actually runs the offense. Siri is of absolutely no measure to the success or failure to the 2026 squad in that respect. We've got a brand new offense that isn't his at all.

Siri is the worst kind of coach because it requires having elite coordinators to do the actual work, and he's proven twice already he cannot choose an OC. And when they do get elite coordinators, they're out the door as soon as they get in and you're back at square zero because there's no continuity from the HC.

I agree with your assessment, I want a coach who's worth a damn at actual coaching and not being a vibe merchant.

Truth serum here. Eagles had 4 horses to choose from after the Superbowl. You were going to only be able keep 2 of them. At the time, the 2 most developed DTs were MW & JC. JD was close to a draft bust at that time. I'd say even today, he's a an overpaid rotational run stuffing tackle that you can find in the draft in the 3rd round every year. There's really nothing special about him, besides his good vibes and he was a GA Bulldog and fit the clique nicely. Howie gave up a lot in draft capital for him and wasn't letting go, when he should have. I liked Ojomo, especially for a 7th rounder, but projecting ahead long term, he was always going to be the odd man out. So really it came down to choosing JD over MW. Wrong choice my friends. That interior of the line was a terror with those 2 beasts, once MW became starter in 2nd half of 2024 and has not looked the same since. Don't think many OC's around the league are losing sleep on game planning, "how do we stop Jordan Davis"? The same cannot be said for Milton Williams. He's that game wrecker and play maker that this defense sorely misses.

Wouldn’t be shocked if Campbell transitions to full time edge in a year or 2, ends up having a long, mediocre career as a jack of all trades, master of none type.

Yeah plus if he’s not going to do be tasked with anything then why is he here?

No Baun or Smith at practice. 2-2 here we come

Really tired of seeing "So and so is playing through…”

How about don’t play until you’re healthy? How does it help the team to have a guy who can’t block or can’t rush the passer out there? Let them heal up if they can’t play. JFC

By this point. everybody’s playing with something. It’s a brutal sport.

Bo on PHLY said he heard this week that Devonta could miss the next 3 games with a hammy.

I see the value of a ILB that can threaten the A gap (like Nakobe) but with the athleticism to drop out effectively from sim pressure... that requires a stronger, more experienced Campbell which still feels at least a year away if his development goes well.

I can't tell if this is a typo or just poorly worded

In regards to Smith, obviously Zack Bain isn't playing

I can't say it was surprising, but there was a run of DEs ahead of our 2nd round pick where it again feels like Howie couldn't move. Likewise, the TE class seemed a bit thin and the Y types got snatched up. Mukuba makes sense to me as a scheme fit (obviously, I wish he was 10lbs heavier) but I doubt he was Plan A.

The Eagles pushing guys with injury coming back to bite them again. Guess they haven’t learned from the last 2 years.

I see that value too. But the problem is that Fangio's system seems very complex and they drafted a guy who's only knock was instincts. Thats probably the one knock you can't have here, as we have already seen undersized, unathletic guys like Dean and Trotter look great.

His best attribute was probably his rush ability from the LB spot.

If the eagles had focused on that it would have alleviated or prevented numerous issues that we have experienced.

  1. Logjam at ILB

  2. Lack of depth at edge (absolutely killed us at times the past 2 seasons)

  3. Probably dont let go of Dean then

  4. May have not needed to waste draft picks and major money on Greenard. Im a Greenard fan so not complaining about him, just may not have felt like a need and could have used those resources elsewhere. Possibly affecting numerous positions. Or at least preserved those resources.

  5. Maybe have more insurance to move off of Nolan Smith who is underwhelming, or worse.

Not giving him time to develop in possibly his best position has had a domino effect on multiple positions on the roster.

All the Georgia guys said he was the heart and soul of the Georgia defense. If he keeps playing like this he will be first team all-pro then Howie will have a lot of questions to answer. I get you can't pay everybody but at some point you need to keep the superior playerrs over the lesser lights and stop blaming the big, bad salary cap.

Rams - 46

Lost, clueless, injured Eagles - 13

To boil it down I want him to show at any position - but he's not running through RBs now, I'm doubtful he'd hold up uncovered against OTs at OLB.
