The only chance would have been a hail Mary and a PI penalty.Who do you trust more to do their jobs, whoever was filling in on STs or the starting defense who held them to 16 points all game?Nick literally just said it was the wrong choice. They also happened to lose the game because of it.Nick takes the blame. That’s what leaders do.Would it make you feel better if he’d said "Never my choice.” ?

You are the one having a little hissy fit about it.The 3 kickoff returns that counted before the final one yesterday, the Jags averaged 21 yards. The NFL average is 26 yards.Through the first 4 games the Eagles had averaged 26.85 kick return yards against. They blew it on the last one, no doubt, but to say there was any type of trend is ridiculous. You're making the point about the penalty flag to minimize the very real risk of them getting a massive kick return (which then actually happened). We're not stupid, man.As a coach, flag or no flag, knowing my best gunner got ejected and seeing them return one for a touchdown would absolutely factor into my decision making. This is the same freaking conversation we have every week about analytics. They are great, but they exist in a vacuum. You have to take the analytics and then compare it to what you're actually seeing on the field.Yes, an "average team" may do X, Y, Z. But just like the 4th down calls, when half your starters are missing, you're no longer an "average team" and you have to take that into account.Again, it's called coaching. And I'm still waiting on Nick to justify his position of Head Coach by actually doing something to give the team an edge

Monday at 07:50 PM5 days Lumpkin and Majors weren't ready to start in the NHL, not a knock, they're both limited physically and inexperienced. Lumpkin was the 9th OL and Majors was on the PS, we're only 5 games in the season and they're starting.I was disappointed that Morris wasn't ready, but that's a lot to expect from a 6th rd rookie OG.But if the season goes downhill, like to see Morris get some time at RG next to Bell, let them grow together as a huge combo that are mobile and who could solidify half the OL for a decade.Howie will need more info, b/c I think first priority is LG, second is LT who can take over in a few years (depending on how long Mailata wants to play). And keep adding athletic but raw middle round picks to develop. If they come out of this season with a young OL, clear cap room in 2027 and build for a 2028 SB run.Meanwhile, Pierce had little room to run but showed me no vision or cutback, he's basically a power back who needs a mauling line to open holes in front of him. There's a reason he was available (not to mention hands of stone).
Monday at 07:54 PM5 days This to me shows how clueless Sirianni is. The clock management was the bigger issue. I guarantee you if he kicked a touchback and the Jags got a FG on a completion out of bounds he’d be saying he should have kicked off.

The way that game was going, are we more confident of the defense stopping the Jags (most likely Q and Woolen blanketing WRs on sideline routes) in 8 seconds or the special teams, short on help and playing Jake Majors over there without Trotter. This team hangs its hat on its defense. It's a no brainer. You play the sidelines and they are pretty screwed with no timeouts. This shouldn't be a tough conversation. Jaguars won that game the only way you could because the Eagles opened up the most appetizing window.
Monday at 07:57 PM5 days I don't understand the arguements over the kick-off choice anymore.......this will drag on all week. Smart logical coaching says F the analytics at that point, kicks it in the endzone, calls an effective but base defense because the JAGS have 8 seconds and no timeouts. In what world do we see Lawrence drop back, complete a mid-long yardage pass, get to the line, spike the ball, lose a yard and bring the FG unit on the field for a GW field goal? Especially when Sirianni has an extra timeout to ice the long snapper, not the kicker, but the long snapper who has NEVER been in this situation. Everything in that secnario still leans towards the Eagles walking out with the W........BUT if for some strange reason their WR comes down with a great miracle catch, they do spike it and kick a 65 yard GW field goal to win the game, then you tip the cap to them, and as a coach you don't have to wonder what if......you just got beat, but you didn't beat yourself. And between Sirianni, Fangio and Clay we haven't worked on a :15 second scenario in camp/practice given the new kick-off rule? Especially after seeing the Ravens be successful just a few weeks ago?
Monday at 07:58 PM5 days 2 hours ago, NCiggles said:I don't understand your point. The Eagles were the number 1 rushing team in 2021, number 4 in 2022, number 5 in 2023 and number 2 in 2024. What separates the running game from those seasons and 2025 and 2026 is Hurts' use/willingness to be utilitized in the run game. In 2025, the run offense was middling vs. the trash heap dumpster fire where it is now.Hurts should not be running, the RPO was an invitation to knock him out of a game (season). As he ages, he's slowed down a step or two, can make people miss in the open field when he scrambles in space, but running horizontally in the RPO he's got a huge target and he's doesn't have the explosive burst through the line on QB draws, etc.The problem with the run game is the deterioration of the OL, At their peak, it was the best run blocking group in the NFL, when LD and Jurgens had kness and Lane was on the field.Same reason to end the tush push, it worked when they had that line, especially with Becton at RG. Not so much with this line.I don't think it's the new scheme, they struggled last year and now no Lane, no LD, no Jurgens. To implement a new scheme then play 3 rookies, the highest a late 3rd rd pick and expect smooth sailing requires a high level of delusion.

Monday at 08:01 PM5 days Anyone debating whether or not Sirianni FUCTED up royally by not kicking it into the end zone is a moron. Jacksonville gets ONE play from the 35 if they do. 8 seconds if not enough time to throw the ball 15-20 yards down the middle of the field and spike the ball, setting up a 63-68 yard FG attempt. You guard the side lines and there is no time for a cheap 10-15 yard out and get out of bounds. Even so BEST CASE that sets up a 70ish yard FG attempt. Lawrence probably doesn't reach the end zone on a hail marry where his drop back makes it about a 70 yard throw. The game is over if they just kick it into the end zone, period. Sirianni is a dope and thought the game was already over. He FUCTED around and found out.

He's not asking that and saying look I'll do whatever that needs to be done to win if he decided he isn't running as much anymoreAdd in what Nick said in response. Add in the two thing Hurts said yesterday and it's clear (unless he is lying) Nick puts restraints on himAdd in the fact Nick was getting his hands into the run game last year to the point Jeff lost his job as RGC. He's got his hands in everything." I honor the play call, honor the things that come into the game."

A 33 he was not, from the tape. Overall consensus seemed to be he had a rough start and played well after settling in, in his debut. Said from the beginning, I don't he's necessarily your future LG, but a heckuva Swiss Army knife cheap reserve off the bench that will play a lot in a long season. Do think he can start at Center somewhere. For noŵ we leave him at LG. For this year you leave LD shelved, unless proven differently in practice with better mobility. Kendall is a good find at center for future. Bell is going to get better all season. He's at least Fred Johnson quality this second and an upgrade down the line. This OL should not be putrid and come together in these next few weeks. Got a vet on left side of the of line and one on the right to guide this along. Would like to see reps for Morris this year as well. Sure he gets them somehow with the constant injuries here.PFF is a joke. You can't evaluate football players based on math equations.

There was one big difference in that game the timeout it is literally impossible to throw a 15 yard pass at least and spike the ball in eight seconds and it is not humanly possible.

Run the ball three times and trust your kicker to make the kick with 1 second left. The decision to not kick it into the end zone was inexcusable but this sequence of plays wasn't far behind and there is no way Sirianni isn't directly involved in those play calls in a situation like that.

If there was 15 seconds there is an opening for that argument. With 8 seconds it is literally impossible to complete a 15-20 yard pass across the middle of the field, line everyone up, and spike the ball. The game is over if they just kick it into the end zone.

You only need to catch the ball at the sideline and step or fall out. 15 yards and out-of-bounds was not even difficult, much less impossible
