I guess the counterpoint is do they want Lampkin to settle in at LG, or will they move him around and play him at center with LD at LG?

If Kendall isn't healthy, I'd like to see LD at guard and Willie at center this week. LD was bad week 1, but then I saw something much worse with Jurgens at LG.

I would like to see some consistency at some point. The Eagles already had 4 different OL combinations in 5 games and this weekend might be the 5th. If Kendall is out start Majors at C and whoever you think the long term LG is and let it be.

I find it admirable you guys are in Jalen hurts corner defending him. Cause sometimes it’s way overboard on this board with him.Just like HE’s undying defense of sirianni. At times it’s over the top with him too. However, there’s a point where you guys both sides go overboard in your defense as well. Like no offense I’ve seen people on this board tell me that Jalen hurts is better than Patrick Mahomes and Stafford. No he’s Fing not. Both have won a Super Bowl and league mvps. I love the Eagles, but I’m also in the realistic universe where I watch other football teams. Like there’s a better quarterback out there than Jalen hurts. No crap that’s reality. There’s a better coach out there in the sirianni. No crap that’s reality. There’s better general managers over the last year and a half than Howie. No crap that’s reality. That is the world we live in. You’re not always gonna be the best or have the best nor absolve from blame or criticism.

I’ve said this before, if the Eagles want run the scheme that Sean Mannion truly wants to run then I don’t think you can have a head coach that’s not indoctrinated in it and not knowledgeable in it. Because he can’t help when they have problems because that’s not where his specializes in. Imo hurts is not a fit for this offense. He’s never been a fit for this offense. This is not what he does best. And if he’s not gonna be asked to run or he doesn’t want to run, then that severely hurting the Eagles offense. Because when they drafted him that was part of his allure. So the offense does not turn it around when guys get healthy and their pass offense which the previous 3 years was bottom 1/3 of the league then there’s a good chance neither one of them are here by 2028. And that’s not me hating on either one of them cause i don’t think either are awful. That’s called the reality of the NFL. I don’t think Jeffrey Lurie is gonna sit there and be like you know what our passing off has been bad for the better part of 3 going on 4 years. Let’s just keep running it back. At some point he’s gonna make a big Fing change. Unlike the Phillies.

As I replied before, this thread is just CVON political partisan groups with bias arguing with each other all day with extreme takes, bad logic, double standards, cherry picking stats, moving goal posts, straw man arguments, hyperbole and emotional overreactions. Some people seem to care more about sticking it to some other fans than how the team plays. I remember when people used to say the blog was a respite from TATERs and featured intelligent, rational discussion. If anyone provides any semblance of balance they're attacked by a circle jerk of people that hate Hurts or Siri no matter what they do, or want the team blown up. If anyone is critical of Hurts or Siri you have guys that are homers towards them and defend them at all costs with ridiculous arguments and reaching. It's a cesspool like Twitter or Reddit.

My concern is Majors was a liability on snaps; one bad snap cost them a nice tunnel screen. If they activate Dickerson, then the plan is for him to be the starting LG. So going to Lampkin this week, Kendall next week (if healthy) with a long term plan of Mailata/Dickerson/Kendall/Steen/Bell and Willie as the top backup makes sense.

You new here?

Just ignore it. Hurts' future isn't a relevant topic until the offseason anyway.

Wonder if we would bring him onto the offensive coaching staff

I thought about that. But they could’ve also done that when Reich ended his year at Stanford at the November last year and didn’t. So as much as they probably could use the help, I’d doubt it

It has been quite entertaining, listening to both sides, no one backing down. I was thinking earlier if this debate were taking place before the interwebz existed it would be at a local bar after work everyday, a fight would break out, everyone ends up hugging after getting tanked, and the next day? Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. You just need a DAL fan to walk into the bar and distract you to get you all fighting the same battle on the same side...hhmmmmm, where are we gonna find that guy.

The Spanos family is notoriously cheap, so not sure they'd fire him when they owe him $16mm per year through the 2028 season.

True story so part of the reason why the Chargers didn’t get a new stadium prior to the last attempt, was they were trying to build it on the swamp lands. my sister who is an attorney, was working for Sierra club to protect the swamplands and the animals living there. that’s the reason why they didn’t get to land at that time to build. I lived with her at the time in San Diego. we got a whole bunch of death threats on our answering machine when that hit.

Not to take anything away from Wentz working with backups, nor the general argument whether or not Hurts should win with backups (I think they could have won even with the backups, the O line did well considering and the WRs did too). But there were not 8 starters out that game for Wentz, there were 5. And the starters that were out:

  • Washed Jason Peters, Mailata started and remained the starter the rest of the year

  • Brandon Brooks - out for the year before the season started, Nate Herbig started the opener and had 3 starts by the time this game in week 4

  • Jalen Reagor who sucked

  • Washed DeSean Jackson. (WR was very valid as Fulgham and Hightower were starters. The WR group was awful all year.)

  • The game log listed Zach Ertz as the starting TE and Dallas Goedert out. So it's counting Zach Ertz as a "backup."

On O line Wentz had a much stronger and experienced group than Hurts had last week:

  • Starting OT Lane Johnson

  • OG Nate Herbig, a 2nd year player who started all year since the season opener since Brandon Brooks was out

  • Starting C Jason Kelce

  • Starting OG Isaac Seumalo

  • Backup OT Jordan Mailata in his 3rd season, starting for the injured Jason Peters, who was washed, Mailata started the rest of the year and never looked back

Wentz also had not only his starting RB but his backup RBs as well. The offense scored 18 points, the defense scored a pick 6.

The Eagles O line situation this past week was:

  • Bell: a rookie 3rd round OT making his 2nd start

  • Steen: 3rd year OG returning starter from last year

  • Majors: 2nd year Center, was an UDFA last year and on injured reserve, making his first start with little practice time, coming off the practice squad this week

  • Lampkin: Short king Lampkin making his first start in the NFL, an UDFA

  • Mailata

Hurts had practice squad RBs called up because RB1, RB2 and RB3 were out. The team had no run game, rushing 18 carries for only 22 yards.

Heading into the week, most fans said they would get destroyed by the Jags, it would be a bloodbath, predicting a blowout loss. Instead it was a close game with a makeshift backup O line (who played well considering), a starting TE who is about washed up (largely more injury than talent wise), scrub RBs pulled off the practice squad and missing your #1 WR. Not to mention a first time play caller trying to figure it out, Nick's bad decisions, and having to fly to London. And yet the offense had the game sealed up by scoring the go ahead FG with 8 seconds left.

It will be interesting to see how things go when guys get healthy and the new starters gain experience.

Winning with a less talented team plus depleted depth is all the more impressive.

In no world would I bring McDaniel into the coaching staff this year at this point and add another voice to an offense that's already struggling.

Not yet...Kelce is very charismatic and I like him calling a game but he needs a bit more polish, maybe in a year or two.

Would be complete chaos...

You make sense, it's just hard to say what will happen. Hurts said he took almost all snaps during the offseason from Cam. Then you throw in Kendall during the season and then Majors and Lampkin back to back. Who knows if Lampkin wouldn't be just as big of a liability. Especially with him focusing more on repping at G recently.

Trolls typing their 🗑 on the day Hurts signs his extension....

Grizzard was fired after a year as OC by Tampa after a year. Not sure he has the experience you’d want either.

And Jerrod Johnson.

Greg Olsen is the one to watch. In his final year in his contract with FOX and will never jump Brady to be the #1 color analyst. I can see him joining Buck and he's very good. FOX also dropped his salary from $10 million down to 3 after Brady joined.

I guess you can add him to the list

But wasn't Grizzard hired because Mannion is so new? Seems like he's not getting the best advice currently

Olsen makes sense. believe kelce is already under contract with espn and has done some like this weekend. Albeit i don’t think 3 man booths work like having him and Kurt Warner there.

I’d argue Kuper and Grizzard got fired/let walk for a reason. Jerrod Johnson was also not retained by the Texans. Was QB coach but really stroud has regressed every year since his rookie year under Johnson working with him. Imo they needed a senior assistant to help their first time OC and first time calling plays.

Well it certainly seems that way now lol
