Apropos of nothing, Bo Wulf said today on PHLY that from talking to people, his understanding is because of Lane's retirement cap ramifications, it makes it more difficult financially to trade Jalen Hurts in 2027 even with there being no(or is it much less?) guaranteed money remaining.

If he's right, that makes for an awkward situation because if he doesn't play another game or he comes back and the offense continues to be awful then they certainly can't give him a new contract. And he's probably going to be none too happy going into a year with the guaranteed money situation.

He will make a fine backup.

@Joe Ball

Dak is a very established veteran. So Im hoping Dallas has not concerned themselves with a very strong QB coaching staff since its not really a key need with a player like him.

But you tell me, how is their staff as far as QB gurus go?

I can't even say the eagles have the right group of guys, but Im hoping that theyre even more well equipped to bring out even more development from him than the Dallas staff would have been.

I don't know if it will happen here since he may only be here very briefly but I can see him being an extremely late bloomer and possibly becoming at least a elite level backup in the league.

I think we have to acknowledge where we are as a franchise. We aren’t a Super Bowl contender. We’re heading for a reset, where a second or third round pick would be more useful moving forward.

I think we can salvage the season.

However I don't believe we need Barkley to do that.

I'm keeping Woolen and Ojomo for potential wins.

Ill trade Barkley though

I mean, it's not like the Eagles didn't expect Lane to retire - they are still going to process it after June 1, 2027 as planned, $16.6mm dead money 2027 ($4.5mm savings) and $26.3mm in 2028. But this was ALWAYS the plan. Trading Jalen after June 1, 2027 is $31mm in 2027 dead money (over $11mm in savings vs. having him on roster) and ~$54.5mm in dead money in 2028. So that's just under $81mm in dead money on 2028; Spotrac has us at $156mm in cap space in 2028 currently, but that's with Jalen on the books at $48mm. So it's more like $204mm - $81mm leaves $123mm of cap space with 23 players under contract. So tight, but doable.

But nothing has changed at all from a cap perspective vs. expectations. So Bo is full of crap.

Mike Garafolo said on PHLY today that if the Eagles are still sinking after the next few games he thinks Howie is going to sell. Which shouldn't be surprising, but people were focusing on some reporters talking about how Howie "Doesn't believe in rebuilding" and Garafolo said Howie will never spend an offseason trying to tank a season, but if he's in the middle of an awful season and knows his team isn't good enough, that threads the needle for the perfect opportunity to sell and he pointed to the directive to bench Hurts in 2020 when they were leading WSH to tank that game.

He was also asked about the narrative about the Eagles not being an attractive destination based on their inability to get their desired candidates this year at OC and in the past at other positions and he said if the Eagles end up moving on from Sirianni after the season they won't have any trouble attracting a head coach. He said the OC thing is weird and other teams have trouble attracting OCs too, mentioned it happening to the Bucs several times too.

I literally laughed when I read the word "guru". Ain't no gurus on staff in DAL that I am aware of.

Milton has all the potential in the world, he really does, just needs polish and playing time, mobility is great, arm is too strong at times, mental processing improved over the last offseason, he could be a good starter in the league with the right development/improvement imo, but I am an optimist, especially when it comes to most every young player (no matter who they play for). I hate to see young people fail when they have committed so much to a game they love, some deserve better outcomes, while others don't deserve the positive outcomes they get.

So this seems likely:

QB: McKee

RB: Pierce

WR: Smith

WR: Wicks

WR: Lemon

TE: Goedert

LT: Mailata

LG: Dickerson/Lampkin

C: Kendall

RG: Steen

RT: Bell

That's the healthiest lineup since week 3? Even with Jalen out?

Not terrible looking honestly. I wish they’d go with Steele/Blue over Pierce though. He’s cooked

I’m feeling positive this week. Team seems to finally be getting healthy and the defense looks better each week.

I’m going 27-24 birds

Has anyone heard anything about @mattwill ? I really appreciated him keeping up with all that for us. It was fun each week

Smith, Greenard in

Barkley, Carter, Hunt out

It's the Carson Steele show this weekend! McKee and him were connecting good in preseason.

KC Carson Steele..

If Dickerson can play somewhat respectable and Bell holds his own at RT, this line looks pretty solid filled out with Mailata, Kendall, and Steen with Lampkin as depth.

If he did 2 minutes worth of due diligence, he’d have figured it out.

So not full of crap. Just lazy.

I need a bigger screen, tired of zooming and scrolling to read these reports.

@Joe Ball agreed about the unis. I’m a uni/field/logo nerd. I love throwbacks. Seattle’s are awesome.

Making room for Milton

Isn't his cap number ridiculously high his last year?

They really need to change their font so the D's don't look like O's

I’m only entertaining trading Ojomo or Woolen if we get guaranteed picks in the rounds we’d expect to get from them in terms of a comp pick. Ojomo could be a 2028 3. Woolen if he continues playing well would be a 4.
