And the medical staff stinks too

Fasho! Cowgirls fans can now make fun of the Philadelphia Eagles and being badly run right now. Let that register for a second...

Sleep is not a risk for a superficial clot. That’s not even something done for DVT/PE. Something is getting lost in translation here. No one is kept awake for this.

Sports reporters tend to post before getting the truth so that wouldn't surprise me but how did they get whatever info they were given and go with no sleep for that long?

For me, it seems quite apparent the medical staff never should have allowed Hurts to make the London trip. Whatever they diagnosed him with, it was clearly a misdiagnosis. I realize these decisions need to be made fairly quickly, but even I know an overseas plane trip can worsen blood clots.

But does the medical staff have final say? Or do they communicate with someone and just give what they recommend?

The non sleeping part is odd to me. How do you clear a player if they hadn't slept that long?

  • Being awake for 17 hours is similar to having a BAC of 0.05%.

  • Being awake for 24 hours is similar to having a BAC of 0.10%.

That's crazy

I thought exactly of this when I read that. I don’t know what doctor is telling a guy don’t sleep for 36 hours to help with your blood clots then clearing him to play him in an NFL football game which is basically like a car accident waiting to happen on every play. Whoever that doctor is deserves to be fired just for allowing that. It was more important for him to be healthy and not playing in a game where where he could potentially get really hurt in a game due to blood clot and a lack of sleep. Like that should be a fireable offense to whoever the doctor or doctors that were overlooking that. That is gross incompetence.

Also on the Eagles, they should have never let him take the field or even get on the plane to begin with knowing long flights can make blood clots worse. Even the doctors okayed him. That is ridiculous that you put him in that situation. And if Jalen really wanted to play, you have to save the player from himself. Cause he’s always gonna wanna play. That is how he is built mentally. So you are saving him from himself. you did a horrible job with that.

Hurts may have a nice payday coming his way down the road that is worth even more than his current contract…

Why? It was just a calf bruise

Being serious I could see the medical staff being fired but they are the doctors. If they cleared him I'm not sure why the league would take their first

Yea I'm not going on an ITYS tour that eagle45 was wrong

We had a few years when the staff was really bad and we always had revolving doors and injuries. Guess we're back to that

a man with a mustache is making a funny face with his mouth wide open .

We're going to lose our 1st rounder aren't we sad

I doubt there will be any kind of major punishment. The Redskins told Trent Williams he was fine and just had a bump and then ended up having cancer removed from his scalp that was close to spreading to this brain. Nothing happened with them besides financial settlements with Williams.

I didn't know 45 said anything about it.

They landed, the game was the next day, it all happened fast and they could probably correctly say they didn't know much and trusted the doctors. Honestly, the Eagles have their flaws but I can't see Jeff letting his team risk someone's life or career. That's just not who he's been as owner.

Ladies & Gentlemen, welcome to your 4-13 Tanner McKee led Philadelphia Eagles. Embrace it...be happy it's not Dalton. Or maybe not. 2-15 with him. Howie released him a little too early. After waiting 4 weeks to net a late 7th rounder that never came. This is a 🤡 show this year! Have fun.

It sounds like the medical staff Fed this up and I'm curious if the league will step in with an investigation. I just hope Eagles don't get punished like a draft pick being removed or something

That is a good point. The league could fine us a pick. We'll have to see how the inquiry goes

The league isn't beyond throwing someone else under the bus, but I'd imagine they also wanted Hurts to play.

I said a superficial clot is comparable on the medical richter scale to a sprain ankle…which it is.

Not to mention all of the people who die every year from sprained ankles, right up there with blood clots.

Trying to figure out if this is sacrasm. Do you mean @HazletonEagle patients or sprained ankles in general?

Looks like the comparables are

Tyrod Taylor
A team doctor accidentally punctured Taylor's lung while administering a painkilling injection for a rib injury before a game against the Chiefs.

Taylor was hospitalized, missed games, and lost his starting job to Justin Herbert. He later filed a medical-malpractice lawsuit, which was settled in May 2026. The settlement terms weren't disclosed

Trent Williams
Williams said Washington's medical staff repeatedly reassured him that a growth on his scalp was nothing serious.

He said the growth went inadequately investigated for approximately six years before specialists diagnosed a rare form of cancer.

Williams underwent surgery and said he had come close to losing his life. He lost trust in Washington's medical staff and eventually left the organization.

Tua Tagovailoa

Against Buffalo, Tua hit his head and stumbled while attempting to walk. Medical personnel examined him and cleared him to return, attributing his instability to a back injury.

Four days later, he suffered another frightening head injury against Cincinnati and was hospitalized.

An NFL/NFLPA investigation found that the written concussion protocol had been followed, but that its outcome was inconsistent with the intended safety protections. The league subsequently strengthened the protocol.

They said the reason they scheduled the Eagles in London was because of Jalen Hurts popularity

All the Eagles need to show is the best medical information in the moment did not preclude Hurts from travelling or playing, which means medical imaging with no obvious signs of clots.

For how many good moves Howie has made over the years, pretty crazy that this is the second time in less than 10 years he has gone from Super Bowl winning roster to complete dumpster fire needing to hit the reset button within two years.

No. Goodell said because Hurts is viewed as a global face of the league. He ever said anything about his popularity in London.

Wouldn’t be surprised by that either. Also not surprised that Jalen hurts wanted to play in that game. That’s how he’s mentally wired. He’s gonna play unless you take it away from him and tell him he can’t. So to me, I understand why he wanted to go out there and do his job. That’s how he’s mentally wired and how he got to the position that he’s in. He’s tough and wants to play any chance he can. It’s how he became a starting nfl QB.

But the Eagles, their medical staff and the coaches have to be smart enough to be like yeah he’s gonna say he can play he feels good enough to play. But they have to be the smart enough and respect his life is more than just playing football. This was about the rest of his life and not just a game in London.

Rog said he's a face of the league. I'm sure they weren't sad he played, but that won't stop them from tossing the Eagles under the bus. Their saving grace may be the quick turnaround. They landed and played the next day and gave him a scan. If doctors screwed up I'm not sure how they'd hold the organization as a whole responsible enough to take a first round pick.

I am rooting for a Cowboys route next Monday to leave no questions here and the exclamation FU loss. This is a bad football team that needs a good draft in the worst way. Howie Douglas is on the hot seat. Again!! Who knew? I just needed to 1 more loss to see the light. Fully. And I got it. Clear as day!

Isn't "face of the league" popularity? I didnt say his popularity in London

He’s not allowed to extend anyone in the offseason next time he wins a SB.
