I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

But your guessing on the strength of next years draft , and who declares .

A top 10 pick is worth a ton in any draft, regardless of the quality of players. Even if you don't like the players, you just trade down and get even more picks.

I would guess most teams don’t inform their scouts of who they are picking , less that know , the better . I’m thinking GM , HC and a cpl others are the only ones that clued in .

I’m thinking they wouldn’t feel "blindsided” if that was common place.

Or the tweet has no basis , other than the old source told me .

that is the trouble with social media , no accountability , just make things up to feel relevant

A lot of NFL teams had Hurts rated in the 4th/5th round. Eagles scouts probably had him rated a lot lower than where he was taken, thus blindsided

How do we know where NFL teams had a player slotted ? We don’t

If you don't want to believe anything reporters ever report, be my guest.

So happy the team has 19 day 3 selections.

Actually numerous people on and off the record stated that they had Hurts much further down.

It's likely some teams did not have a 2nd round grade on him.  I think it's pure speculation to know where all 31 other teams evaluated Hurts.

Well at least they'll all fit in with the team "culture"

Not sure if posted yet, but god I hope we don't come out looking like donkeys if the Dolphins get MORE for the 6th pick than we did.

Yup and if it fits their thinking then they'll go with it even if its total BS.

Who ? Names ? I can guarantee you it wasn’t any shot callers at the Linc

Hot Take... Kinda

I would take Alex Smith over Jalen Hurts for 2021. Probably...probably 2022 too

because you are trying to tank for the top pick both years?

I’m not saying Hurts was or wasn’t the right pick , but it’s too easy to tweet something based on a source , criticizing every draft pick the eagles make , simply because one don’t agree with the pick

If they are that convinced that Jones is the guy they want at 12, then they should have been willing to draft him at 6.   No way do you roll the dice on missing out on your QB target (especially in Round 1) by trying to get cute.  Afterall, weren't they burned waiting on Wilson, and were left with taking Foles... and wasn't that why they went off the board to get Hurts where they did... for fear of missing out on him.   So, a year later, they are going to try to play the value game again and grab a QB at 12 rather than 6?    That's just bad process, even if it works out the way that they might be hoping, its unnecessary risk at the most critical position on the field.  And would signify once again that Howie is trying to outsmart everyone.

That said, I fully expect that their move will be for a non-QB.  Going for a QB here would be Howie admitting that Hurts was a mistake.

Didn't he already admit that by wanting Wilson?

Third Round (+115)

BetOnline bookmakers have Hurts being selected in the third round as the favorite on this prop. Despite fantastic college statistics, plus his number of games played, Hurts enters the draft with lingering questions. Pocket poise is the most significant question mark as Hurts is viewed as a one-read quarterback. That is due to sometimes struggling to read defenses and becoming a runner if his first pass option isn't open. If Hurts falls to the third round, the Las Vegas Raiders could take him 80th overall.

Serious ?

Vegas odds ? Their odds had KC beating Tampa in the super bowl

You mean during this offseason?   No.  Hurts is still very much an unknown.  Wilson is a known quantity.  I think making a move for the known versus the unknown would just be a move to improve the team.   But, to draft another unknown just one year after the pick of Hurts would be a major indictment on the move to take Hurts.

Zach, he wanted to trade up but couldn't.

QBs in the draft are pretty much chosen in a binary fashion.

If they present as a franchise type, they are coveted and go in round one.  If not, they are bypassed until day three.  There really isn't much in between.

There have been 62 QBs taken in the past six drafts.  18 have gone in round 1.  4 in round 2.  6 in round three.  The remaining 34 on day three.

QBs get chosen out of the top 100 not because they suck, but rather they don't meet the franchise threshold and are escorted to the couch in the back.
