With Smith...I have to say, I've never seen a receiver beat CB's with the consistency and volume that he has.  His highlights on youtube are like full episodes.  Usually first round WR's get it all into a pretty tight 3:30 clip.  All the high end wideouts more or less flash the same type of separation and same type of big plays, but Smith just has like 15 minutes of it.

Yup, it's quite amazing watching the amount of separation smith creates in his highlights, and it's not just a few catches here and there it seems every catch he's created an uncommon amount of separation.

I've heard some say his production is a product of scheme and a lot of short easy passes,yet he led college with most receptions of 15 plus yards.

Others say he's a product of all the good players around him yet fail to use that same excuse for waddle his teammate or chase.

Of course there's the knock on his size and how he'll get I hired even though he's stayed healthy playing in the toughest conference in college.

Others say his size will limit his ability to get off the press yet time after time on tape corners consistently have trouble getting their hands on him.

His release at the line is elite level stuff which allows him to create separation couple that with his elite route running ability and his knowledge of how he's being defended and it's no wonder on tape he always seems to be wide open.

Yet all of that doesn't matter if one cant catch the ball and Smith has shown elite hands in college as well.

Having said that none of it will matter if the QBs can't get him the ball.

we didnt take kwity paye. picked up a first for next year. got a true weapon at wr for the first time in a decade. all while C blocking the giants.

Now it's on Siri to have a plan on offense.

I'm going to vomit if they actually consider some sort of Smith at Z Fulgham at X BS.

Coach up Reagor to run all the routes.  Put him and Smith out wide.  Make them more interchangeable.  For some matchups, Reagor's strength may be better against a jam.  For others, Smith's technique and quickness may be better.

Try to mold Watkins into that underneath speedster gadgety slot role...he could be really dangerous there.  

Let one of JJAW or Fulgham stick around for occasional red zone matchups, but otherwise keep them off the field.

Having said that none of it will matter if the QBs can't get him the ball.

One other interesting thing with him...he has a unique combination of agility and wingspan with his absurdly long arms.

Plenty of long WR's run eye popping 40's, but they usually a little leggy and aren't bouncing all over the field.  Conversely, most of the jitterbug high agility guys are sub 5'11" with T-rex arms.  

Smith's short area quickness combined with the arms of a 6'5" WR allows the QB to consistently put the ball in a clean basket away from DBs.

I think I'd be happy with any of these.... seems like a dozen or so strong prospects left that could have easily gone in 1st.

Birds haven't drafted in this area a lot.   In this range I think of Nate Allen (mcnabb trade pick), Winston Justice, Kevin Kolb and of course Ertz.

I believe in the presser last night Sirianni said he wants everyone to be able to line up everywhere to create matchups.

The issue won't be WR or scheme on this offense.  Having someone to consistently deliver the ball will be.
