Smith is overrated because of idiots on Eagles twitter that think the offense is unstoppable now or that they will compete for the division in 2021

The entire NFC East is a trash can wrapped in a dumpster inside a landfill.  So the fact that the Eagles have a team means they could contend.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Is there a point in competing for the division?

WTF literally got screwed because they won the division.  Had they lost to us, they would have drafted Fields and handed him the keys to the franchise.  The Giants got an extra first round pick because we "screwed them" and prevented them from backing into the playoffs.

The Eagles are the worst team in the division on paper and based on recent performance.  But sure, the division is so bad that they could conceivably compete for it.  They did have to tank just to lose to last year's winner.

I don't think its going to be anywhere near as bad as it was in 2020. Dallas and Washington are both improved. NY still kinda sucks but they have some decent talent and are getting Barkley back.

Smith is over rated because Smith played weaker  opponents week in week out while being surrounded by a ridiculous amount of talent

When asked, I said I thought the SEC is over rated. Outside of the Big 3..maybe big 4 theres so BADDD teams in the SEC

In reality, it seems like that in most conferences and the 4 team playoff is making it worse.   The top of the food chain just keeps getting stronger.

I think Dallas with Dak will be better even if their defense is bottom 1/3 of the league. They won 6 games last year and 5 without him. I also don’t think their defense could be any worse than last year and they lost games some games if Dak plays average they still win (particularly eagles and giants games). if Fitzpatrick plays well i also could see Washington being better than 7 wins. They added a lot of offensive playmakers which they were lacking to that team. Defense should be as good if not better.

How is there not a crypto thread in Whats up?  It would be nice to discuss getting rich with other people.

He had 3 QBs throwing him the ball, none of which were that great, and he dominated the SEC. Also size is an old school mentality for the WR position. Today it’s all about speed & separation.

The game for WRs certainly has changed.  There is no more headhunting defenseless receivers and even the slightest touch draws a flag.  I'm concerned about his size, but it's not as big of a deal as it used to be.

I feel like Dallas getting Dak back healthy is a huge even with a bad defense. The defense at the end of the year wasn’t nearly as bad as it was first 6 games of the year. They were giving up 32.8 ppg through five games. The last 10 it was 25.5 ppg (some of that was turnover pick 6s by dalton and dinucci). Don’t get me wrong both are bad. However that’s over a touchdown difference per game from the first 6 weeks. Dak and the offense was putting up 30+ every game besides the Rams game they lost 20-17

Firing Mike Nolan will be a huge improvement for them.

One of those QB’s  was a first round pick and argued by some for us to draft him at 12 by others for SF to draft him at 3.  Another QB was drafted in the 1st and the 3rd is going to be the QB throwing to him this year in Philly.

Yeah, you made me feel a ton better about the idea.

Out of the 3 not that great QB's we have the worst. GET EXCITED!!!!

Tbh i rather have hurts than tua. Not that I’d think either becomes a top 10 franchise QB. I wasn’t huge on tua before that hip injury. I think tua has a higher ceiling but his floor could just be a complete bust. I don’t think hurts will ever be just a complete bust

Yeah because getting drafted in the 1st automatically makes you a great QB

First five - Rams, Falcons, Seahawks, Browns, Giants

Last five - Ravens, Bengals, Niners, Eagles, Giants

Not very similar sample set.

What a wonderful thought!  We got the benched one....and the one with a mid round grade.....and the one who scouts discussed a position change with.  Nice!

Skins have a defense and have been improving the offense. I'm curious about Barkley. Is he going to come back on fire or on a slow steady pace. Dallas still has the nice offense and Dak will be back. Zeke almost had another 1k yard season but it looked like he lost a step sometimes

Define "bust" in relation to Hurts.  He'll certainly be exciting to watch running around causing broken plays, but is that really going to make him a successful QB?  If he's all that and we still lose, is that a bust?  I agree that neither will be a franchise QB in the end, but I would certainly take Tua's pocket and arm skills over Hurts.

If the OL stays relatively healthy, we should be able to run the ball effectively.  I don't see us being able to stop anyone, unless our DL becomes a top 5 unit.  The newness of schemes on both sides may buy us a win or two early in the season.

Most didn't really have big expectations entering 2017.  Then it clicked.

I’m not sure dallas stops any of those teams early in the year besides that Rams game which felt like more that goff sucks then their defense

The Ostman thing came from Caplan on ITB.  Their chat with Schlereth made me laugh when Schlereth slagged off PFF and Caplan squirmed a little in his seat.

I think bust when referring to them can mean different things based off where you took them and expectations of what they could or should be. For tua it would be out of the league after his rookie contract or just a backup. Hurts, i think if is a backup isn’t a bust. The expectation by most was he was a fringe starter or backup. To me if tua becomes a backup he’s a bust.

I’ve really never been overly impressed with tua. His injury makes me scared even more. I don’t think his arm is elite or great. I think he’s a better passer than hurts but i don’t see his arm strengths as something like josh Allen or even Carson

You just said, "He had 3 QBs throwing him the ball, none of which were that great"......All 3 of them finished in the top 3 as a Heisman finalist.  Two of them was drafted in the 1st round and the third is the guy you are relying on getting the ball to him this season in the pros.  And your argument was just because a QB was drafted in the first round doesn't mean he was great? (Same can be said about a WR BTW, especially a 166 lb one).   In this case, no it does.  It means they were great in college.  You don't finish as a runner up in the Heisman voting if you didn't have a great year in college (see Tua and Mac Jones).  I am sure you'll argue they both benefited from playing at Alabama in that system coached by a darn good offensive mind in Steve Sarkisian.  You know the same system and coaching that some argue benefited Devonta Smith.  You're all over the place here and look pretty silly arguing that Devonta Smith dominated the SEC with not so great QB's and then turn around and say well just because they were drafted in the 1st round doesn't mean they were great.  I mean.......listen to yourself?

If Devonta Smith wasn't drafted by the NYG and the Eagles drafted Mac Jones.....I am sure you'd be singing a different tune.  Just admit you don't watch college football.  You just saw he won the Heisman and looked at his stats.  Just admit that and I'll move on.

Your point was he needs a great QB at the next level.

To be fair you probably watch a lot more college football than me - that’s true.

I don’t care to argue all day on message boards. I respect your take on Smith so let’s move on.

At the pro level if he is going to meet the Marvin Harrison comparison, then yes, he’ll need a great QB.

Fair enough.

Let’s just hope it happens. Not saying it will, but without hope there’s not much to hang your hat on as a birds fan in 2021.
