Using 2020 records. Yes.
Using 2021 records. Likely no. We just don't know who is going to be good yet. The AFC West looks amazing.

It’s not going to flip from the easiest to one of the hardest

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Where are we on OLine injuries: Brooks, Lane, Kelce? Everyone ready for training camp? Season opener?

Where are we at having a legit starting 5 OLinemen? Dillard, Mailata, Driscoll, Seumalo...Are these guys starters?

Are we okay? Or doomed to failure this year?

Brooks was practicing in pads the last week of the season.  Lane was about a month away 2 months ago.  Kelce is fine.  Add  Dillard and Dickerson to your list.  Dillard tore his bicep in training camp.  That's a 6 month recovery before cleared for normal lifting.  He should be OK and in regular training mode.  Dickerson tore his ACL in December so his recovery is on pace to be ready by the start of the season (See cartwheel and squatting videos).

The question is, can they stay healthy.  IF healthy, they can be a good to very good O-Line.

First, lots of people are really lauding the Dickerson pick.  I've heard him called the best IOL in the draft.  If this guy was fully healthy he likely would have gone in the first, maybe has high as mid-first round.  If he rehabs fully, and there's no reason to think that he shouldn't, then we Dickerson helps our OL look much better.

On, JJAW, I said this in the other thread, but Doug / Carson is to blame for JJAW's lack of production.  Doug's schemes were not well suited for JJAW's ability.  JJAW's strength should be making tight and contested catches.  Carson doesn't throw those balls, he's too busy trying to play hero ball and launching the bomb.  Siri's schemes are going to be better for JJAW, and I think he will have a breakout year for us.

Horse crap. JJAW will probably be cut but whatever helps you sleep at night.

If one or two of our NFCE rivals are better, we can immediately get a top 10 hardest schedule. That's as simple as Dak being back to full health + Daniel Jones being "ok" given the Giants' roster.

We simply don't know.

And until those things actually happen it’s the easiest schedule in the league

Based on 2020's numbers yes.

But That didnt include Daks(who we all hate but the cowboys will be an 11 win team with him) Herbert now in his 2nd year. Jets had Gase. We should of lost one to the giants and the Saints game was against a back up and pure luck

Like I guess im being a hater, or too much of a realist, this is a 5 win team

What’s the "24th ranked defense” based on?

I don’t think they will be a good team and I don’t think the schedule has anything to do with it.

Yea they are a bad team

Doug's scheme: JJAW get open and catch the ball.

JJAW: that doesn't fit my skill set

I’m guessing this was in response to Peter king’s article.

4. I think predicting the future of Deshaun Watson is fraught with, well, it’s impossible. I just think by a year from today he’ll have a new home. This is a gut feeling. It’s impossible to predict the future with so many legal issues involved. And depending on the outcome of the cases, several teams might not want to even think about Watson, and rightfully so. If he’s free to play football unencumbered by legal issues in 2022, here are my odds on Watson’s next football team, with a tie at the top:

3-1: Philadelphia. A likely need, plus Eagles are in perfect position to deal with three first-round picks (if Carson Wentz plays three-quarters of the Indy season).

Ok

The SEC is crap talent?

I think so. The Watson to Philly thing is probably just fodder for sports talk media. I have no idea why the Eagles would be interested.

Schedule release in two days!

Home - Dal, NYG, WFT, KC, LAC, NO, SF, TB (curious that all of our non-division home games are against two-word cities)

Away - Dal, NYG, WFT, Atl, Car, Den, Det, LV, NYJ

Best bets...

 - Sunday night in Dallas
 - Thursday night against NYG

Very possible we open at WFT, which gives Biden a chance to a) see his team, and b) celebrate the return of full stadiums.

Because he's good and I think the lawsuits  are bogus

A lot of information is yet to come out about Watson.  No question he is an elite QB.

Based on his play on the field and skill set, no doubt we would be lucky to get a guy like that.

Yup. He only played against *check notes*

  • Derek Stingley
  • Kelvin Joseph
  • Kaiir Elam
  • Jaycee Horn
  • Noah Igbinoghene
  • Eric Stokes
  • Tyson Campbell

It's highly, highly suspicious.  It was coordinated.  The primary beneficiary so far has been the Texans, since it now looks like he will have no choice but to play for the Texans, when his prior stance was he would never play for them again.  He had always been reported to be a good person and teammate prior to this, and a number of his massage therapists issued a statement to that effect as well.

I'm sure it is likely he engaged in some sultry behavior with some of his massage therapists, but again there is a lot more information that needs to come out to accurately assess what he did.

Whether the allegations are true or not... Watson is under investigation. Do you think the Eagles should make a big commitment?

I feel like the team stinks this season anyway. Watson doesn't put them over the hump. They're already invested in Hurts, I want to see what he can do. Then if Watson is cleared, they can take a chance if they want to.

Yes, thats 1 player  of 11.

Ah yes, we should've taken another WR who dominated defensive tackles in the Big Ten. Good logic!

He's good but I think he's being highly overrated.  I know football is a team sport but he's a sub .500 starter at 29-35.  He's 1-2 in the playoffs.

No doubt, Watson is good, really good.  Am I giving up 3 1sts for him?  Nope.  Maybe a 1st and a 3rd.  In no way am I mortgaging the teams future for him.

Here is career per game averages of Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson.

Passing Rushing
Rk Player From To Cmp Att Yds TD Int Sk Yds Att Yds TD
1 Deshaun Watson 2017 2020 22.0 32.4 269.2 1.9 0.7 3.2 19.4 5.7 31.1 0.3
2 Carson Wentz 2016 2020 23.0 36.6 247.2 1.7 0.7 2.6 16.7 3.8 15.6 0.1

Yeah it’s unknown why’s going to come out as the truth and how it’s going to play out. I’m doubting he plays this year. I’d be surprised unless he’s completely found innocent and that it was bogus. I’m not saying it is or isn’t cause i think i time enough info will come out to prove it one way or another.

that said if he’s able to play in 2022 and this is all cleared unless hurts puts up watson like numbers, watson would be one of the best QBs in the league. In his 4 years (rookie year played 6 games before getting hurt) he has thrown 104 TDs and 36 ints and completing 68% of his passes. You can say it was Hopkins but last year was statistically his best year of his career with career high tds with 33. His best completion percentage at 70. And career high in yardage at 4823 yards. And only 7 ints. I am not saying watson played better than Carson wentz during wentz’s 2017 season but statistically they were as good or better except the win column. The Texans sucked but not cause of watson. Their defense was atrocious. They finished 27th in points allowed, 32nd in rush yards per game and yard rushing yards allowed, 24th in passing yards and passing yards per game and finished 32nd in takeaways. Plus you had Bill O’Brien situation and the dysfunction of that organization on top of all that.

First off his record is 28-25 according to pro football reference so i don’t know how you got 29-35.

788B3122-0D9D-47BB-A26C-9517D3A983EC.jpeg
second he was 24-13 as a starter heading into 2020. Additionally they went 4-12 this year cause their defense was 32nd in takeaways, 32nd against the run, 27th in points allowed and 24th against the pass. Legitimately as a unit they were barely better than the Cowboys. Their offense wasn’t really the big issue from week 3 onward

third you want to see improvement from 2019 to 2020. Saw his completion percentage go from 67 to 70. His tds from 26 to 33. And his ints drop from 12 to 7. This was all while Hopkins was dealt for a broken down running back, firing his head coach midseason and the dysfunction that’s the Houston dumpster fire Texans.

just pointing out Carson’s near mvp season he had 60% completion, 3296 yards, 33 tds and 7 ints and 299 yards rushing. Watson’s 2020 he had 70.2%, 4823 yards, 33 tds, 7 ints and 444 yard rushing with 3 tds. Even if Carson played the last 3 games he doesn’t come close to the yards, completion percentage watson had. Wentz would’ve had more passing Tds and he also had a defense that was good and I’d argue better talent overall on offense then what the Texans had.

Also Hes 1-2 in the playoffs. It’s his fault the Texans scored 31 against the chiefs and the defense gave up 51 points? Add on their special teams fumbled a kickoff and missed a field goal on top of that. He is at fault too but really one of those losses is the fact the Texans defense and special teams imploded after being up 24-7

It's too bad BOB isn't there anymore, you could probably have traded a 5th rounder and Boston Scott to get Watson. Now, it'll likely take a bit more...

The only thing that I know for certain about that entire situation is that I don't know anything at all.   But, personally, I'd like to steer clear of that completely until the dust settles and we can see what the situation really is.  But, then again, I wonder if we ever will.
