I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

People rip mcnabb on Tate all the time and he's been gone what 15 years???

I have zero problems with posters ripping Wentz or any other eagle or former eagle, the notion that one shouldn't because  Wentz is gone supports the claim that some posters don't want to hold Wentz accountable for his faults.

Oy vey. Move on with your life. Who cares about McNabb or Wentz? McNabb killed worms and threw up in the Super Bowlzzz! OMG! Wentz had orange hair and cried!!! OMG!!!

What is there left to say about them? They're gone, and most in here have moved on to bashing Hurts because he's the QB here and now. Keep up. Wentz, McNabb et al have been beaten to death. What is added to discuss their faults in here anymore? Please answer that question? Or should we keep going on about TO doing situps in the driveway still?

Then when you idiots are called out on obsessing on him, you try and flip it that we are the obsessed ones. It's laughable, and shows how ridiculously obsessed you guys still are. Like jilted ex lovers, or guys who have been in the friendzone so long they're angry their crush has moved onto a new boyfriend. Let it go.

Really makes you wonder about wonder if certain physical traits beyond a player's control might influence the degree of vitriol leveled at them, but I've already rocked the apple cart, so I won't even touch that landmine.

Everyone has the right to "ask for a trade". And yes, he played awful, what does that have to do with him thinking his time was done in Philly?

He played terrible just about all year.  In the process he was benched because of his terrible play.  Didnt he say that was the moment he thought he was done with the Eagles?

Didn't take long for the fanbois to prove my point. Saying that he's moved on and it's water under the bridge is one thing, but the diatribes and, to borrow a term, "purse-swinging," whenever anyone so much as suggest that their golden boy might not have been up to the task just confirms the weird emotional attachment to Wentz for some of these people. Wentz apologists are like weird stepford wives.

Is it pronounced fan-bwah?

Cool story bro.

Maybe switch to decaf, you seem strung out.

Geez...just looked into going to the Raider game...they jacked up the hotel prices ahead of the official schedule. Looks like I will be flying in and out on the same day.

I only commented on Wentz because there was already a conversation going on in here about him. I didn't just bring it up out of nowhere, but some of you are really sensitive about the subject. It's ok. We know you're sad he's gone and you're just lashing out at others over the pain of rejection.

Wait. I thought you were a wordsmith.

Now, it seems that you are a psychologist.

What a polymath!

I'm perfectly calm dude. Maybe we can have another conversation about how Jeremiah Trotter was limited to only blitzing the A gap. What a turd when he asked for that extra money that Banner refused to pay!!!

I don't think anyone has an issue talking about his faults. Aside from his play, most of the discussion about his faults fall on the side of speculation about his locker room behavior and leadership. I think there have been plenty of rumors and Wentz did try to address them.  I also think it's fair to question why he asked for a trade but if you don't like him I wouldn't see why you would care.   I haven't seen anyone actually engage on the topic without one side calling the other Wentz washers.  I haven't seen anyone say that Wentz was a top 5 QB and we should have never traded him.  The argument for Wentz is really not about Wentz at all but about Hurts.  I think there are 3 main issues. 1) Did Hurts warrant a 2nd round pick vs. another position of need? 2) Is Hurts a better QB than Wentz? 3) Is Hurts good enough to be an above average NFL QB?

People that are perfectly calm don't call others idiots and morons every other word.

Having said that Banner refusing to pay trotter kept the eagles from a chance at a super bowl.

Trotter was a focal point of JJs defense and without Trotter it didn't work.

Not to mention eagles signed Shaun Barber that year to a cheap FA deal, he had a really good year in 2002 he and trotter and emmons would have been really good.

Instead we got stuck with Barry Gardner🤢 and fat Kirkland.

The day Banner left was a great day, that His little minion Howie replaced him makes it feel like banner never left😡

McNabb was ripped because he didn't win the big game. If he didn't throw 3 interceptions in the Super Bowl, then I think he would unquestionably a HOF QB.  He also never really endeared himself to the fans.  Jaws was trashed and booed when Cunningham started playing.  Cunningham was criticized and booed when he played poorly and he was replaced by Rodney Peete.  I won't say racial bias isn't an issue but I don't think it's why he was criticized.

Howie could build another SB winning team and those are those who'd still say "he's not a football guy."

The Eagles record this year will have no impact, since they're committed to a rebuild (noises about being competitive are just that, watch what I do, not what I say).

What will matter is whether the past two drafts are developing into NFL players, because next year's draft is going to be a killer, 4 top 40 picks (even if the Indy pick is a 2nd, it'll likely be a high 2nd b/c if Wentz goes down, so does Indy) in a very deep draft. Look for Howie to try and garner more picks in next year's draft if possible.

Hurts could show solid development and the Eagles could still go 5-12 if the secondary implodes, look at Houston last year.

I don't believe this is true.  After the moves made to purge the roster of the terrible Visor Moron acquisitions and contracts, the moves made to get Wentz, and the sensible approach in 2016 and 2017 FA to add players and ultimately deliver the ultimate prize, I had totally come around on Roseman.  It seemed like he really had learned some hard lessons and was going to be a key asset moving forward.  I was there for Kelce's speech and what he said about him, and thought we were really into a new era.

Everything changed after that parade.  The Eagles became consistently the worst drafting team in the league.  In seemingly every draft, they made massive an obvious mistakes and "too clever by half" picks that caused them to miss out on some great players, while selecting some guys who can't play in the league at all, or are nominal contributors at best.  Trades were made that robbed the team of additional assets for next to nothing in return.  The Eagles went from a Super Bowl winning roster full of pro-bowl level players to one of the worst rosters in the league in a few short years.  Along the way, reports emerged of various players being alienated, or harassed/insulted by Roseman or his cronies directly.  The culmination was the total implosion and ultimate trade of our former league MVP-elect, franchise QB after signing to a massive contract.  In the meantime, many different terrible contract decisions and poor signings were made, and more and more players needed to be extended to make room, resulting in a league worst salary cap position.  It's hard to look back and point to a team that won the SB suffer such a precipitous decline.  What made it worst is that even fans on the EMB were pointing out the mistakes in the draft, FA and trades as they happened.

This offseason, we learned the awful truth that the owner is the de-facto GM, makes most of the decisions either directly or via undo influence.  We learned that while the coaching staff was continuously messed with an ultimately scapegoated, the total failure across the board by the GM "in name only" did not even merit consideration in terms of his position and job security.  We learned that this job security is derived from being essentially the secretary for the actual GM, who is the owner.  This is an "awful truth" because it is not a fixable problem.  We have a "faux Jerry Jones" who pretends he isn't meddling and lays the mistakes off at the feet of others... or just outright stabs people in the back.  All but his trusted lieutenant, who he must retain at all costs to facilitate his "collaborative" approach.

Myself and others here have been quite vocal that this is no way to run an organization of any kind, and no way to operate an NFL team.  Many of us have lost confidence that with the current structure and the people making decisions the Eagles will have a strong chance of returning to contention.  It seems very unlikely.  Most here probably believe in some form of the "Strong GM" model, where a head personnel man of appropriate skillset, credentials and experience runs the personnel side of the business, has hire/fire authority over leadership, scouts and staff, and has final say on personnel matters.  This GM and the entire personnel side of the organization should have strong alignment with the coaching staff, along with processes and procedures to ensure that alignment.  Ultimately, in this model, the GM has "final say" in any personnel matter, like making draft picks and free agent signings.  The owner should not wield undo influence or overestimate their own evaluations -- they need to enable and empower the GM and team to make decisions.  They maintain "Veto Power" on any player acquisition, of course -- but this should be used sparingly, and generally for culture fit type reasons (example, many owners probably vetoed bringing in Vick when he was re-instated).

Fast forward to this draft.  My initial take was the Eagles draft was excellent.  Not that this one draft changes the competitiveness of the team, or that they filled every need, or anything like that.   It was how they ran the draft, took the best players, didn't reach for needs, made a bold move to get the last potential non-QB "difference maker" and rob him from an arch rival.... it was A or A+ for me.  In the middle of the room, the GM/owner and his secretary, surrounded by other "football guys" they may or may not have listened too during the process.

Ultimately, we all want the Eagles to be great and compete for championships.  If the owner and lackey achieve that, terrific!  It doesn't matter who picks the players if the team and players are great, decisions are sound, etc.  Not every decision works, not every draft pick works.  Was sound logic used, was the work done, did the plan make sense, was the execution proper, etc.  The Eagles have failed for a while in these fundamentals.  If all of a sudden, that changes, and they are one of the top teams in the league??  Credit will be given where it is due.  I don't care if the GM was a lawyer who worked up from the mail room or a former all-pro offensive lineman.  It does not matter.  What matters is they are good at the job.  For a long time now.... since the glory of 2017... our owner/GM and lackey have been league worst.

Based on everything we have seen, do I think the owner and lackey are going to get us back to where we want to go?  No, I do not.  But the last draft was a big change, and who knows, maybe things will be different.  The Cowboys weren't very good when Jimmy's players aged out, but Jerry and his son have got a decent team together and they seem to be good at drafting and developing talent.  Haven't won anything, but have been good in that area so it may be a matter of time.  If our owner is involved to that extent, he should just OWN it and not hide from it... have the balls to come out and own up to what you are doing.

There's plenty to criticize McNabb about. I know I have. Aside from his play, he did a really poor job of connecting with the fans and city and he was just kind of a weirdo, but at the end of the day, McNabb won a lot of games and gave the team its best stretch of sustained success in its history. But history offers perspective. He was a lot more productive than Wentz, even if his attitude left a lot to be desired (as did Wentz's, so that's kind of a wash to me), the frequency and extremity of criticism leveled at McNabb should be much less than at Wentz.

But I've said my part. I won't labor the point.

No way I would pay that for a regular season game
