That schedule is an absolute pig. We could very easily (and likely) start 0-6, perhaps 1-5 at best. And then where does this team go? At that point it could be ugly.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

If we somehow win a few of those first weeks we could be looking at the playoffs the second part of the schedule is sooooo easy. Not likely but I think it's a decent possiblity depending on the new coaching staff.

Well if we can ride out the first six weeks in somewhat a decent way and get more than one win out of the six, then then most of the teams didn’t set the world on fire last season.

I'm not sure I'm seeing an easy second half of the year. But hey if we build up some early confidence then perhaps.

I dont hate Ginger.  Where you get that from?

I just think he's a crybaby and mentally weak.  Doesnt mean I hate him.

I simply asked you a question. So he's a "crybaby and mentally weak" according to you and do you feel the same way about Rodgers? And where does your "opinion" that he lost the locker room come from?

Hopefully it's sooooo ugly Howie finally get's fired. And I have a strong feeling that's the way the season will go. I think Hurts will win us some games with his feet though.

Just pretend Slay is representing Hurts by wearing his #2 from last year.

Agreed.  How could they be that disrespectful to Jake Elliott?!

He's wrong.  It will be 17.

Well the graphic can only go so far left or right. If Elliot was accurate he’d be in the graphic.

Jewish people believe in God too.

True, but they do not view Jesus as the Messiah. There are no Gospels in their scripture.

My hope all along is that when the stadiums are able to be at full capacity, Lurie will see the empty seats or opposing fans at the Linc and realize he needs to change his ways.  Firing Howie isn’t enough.  He has to fire Howie and back away from meddling.

agree

Some Jewish people do indeed follow Jesus as the Messiah, but the Jewish religion does not.

I'm not sure what you mean by Jewish nationality and I don't really want to pursue it. He's a practicing Jew, if that's what you're asking. OTOH, he has recorded Christmas music so he makes a distinction between his religion and his profession.

Is it really meddling , if you own the team ?

yup

when you over-rule your subject matter experts, who you supposedly hired for the advantageous knowledge base. that's meddling. and it destroys morale. talented people dont want to work for leaders like that.

One year soon, the Eagles incessant complaining about Dallas getting a freeload from the NFL on Thanksgiving Sunday will end with the the NFL scheduling the Eagles at Home to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, and Dallas playing at home on the Thursday after, while the Eagles fly to Seattle and then LA. Regardless of what is fair, the NFL schedulers and TV companies lover the Lions and Cowboys playing at home on Thanksgiving.

And... I love the lack of primetime games too

Well the draft is more fun if the team is picking in the top 5.

My favorite clients are the ones who have googled the law, know a guy who had the same type of case and have a cousin that is a lawyer in another state

I didn't realize the Broncos brought in Kyle Fuller too.  Patrick Surtain, Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller.

They drafted Jamar Johnson at safety and added Kary Vincent in I believe round 7.  That's a complete secondary overhaul in one year while retaining Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons at safety.

They have a great mix of veteran and young players.

It tells me a few things.

1. The Eagles secondary is really depressing and while limited funds, they did the bare minimum to upgrade.  Out of 9 picks, to only have one go towards the secondary was not a good use. They are moving Avery and Ostman to LB, have Davion Taylor who still needs to learn the position and now drafted 2 other players who need to learn how to play LB.

TJ Edwards, Alex Singleton, Eric Wilson, Shaun Bradley, Davion Taylor, Rashad Smith, Joe Bachie, JaCoby Stevens, Patrick Johnson, Genard Avery, Joe Ostman.  I look at Bachie and Smith as camp bodies. Of the 9 LB fighting for roster spots, 5 of them are learning how to play the position.  This on the heels of the Nate Gerry disaster.  Maybe they should start drafting...I don't know, linebackers?

Instead of adding Patrick Johnson, a total wildcard who is fighting with 4 other guys learning the position, they could have taken a flier on Kary Vincent, Tre Norwood or James Wiggins.  I would much rather have added CB depth and competition instead of yet another LB project.

2. If they Eagles commit to it, they can rebuild their secondary in an off-season.  They could be in prime position to add Derek Stingley or Sevyn Banks in the draft next year.  The FA class next year is pretty old but a guy like Marshon Lattimore could be a Troy Vincent kind of signing.  He'll be 26, in his prime and the Saints are currently over the cap in 2022 so they might not be able to retain him.

Stingley/Banks and Lattimore would instantly be the best CB duo since Lito/Sheldon.

The safety FA class, if they hit the market is VERY strong.  Jamal Adams, Terrell Edmunds, Jabril Peppers, Marcus Williams and Xavier Woods are a few names right off the bat.

Can the Eagles figure their cap out to bring in a top CB and S?

3. They need to sign Gareon Conley.  I would love to see them bring him in on a prove it deal.  25 year old, 1st round pedigree coming off an injury.  They have NOTHING to lose.  They don't have CB2 on the roster.  Actually, Slay should be CB2 at this point in his career but he's CB1.  You bring in Conley, put him at CB2 and say go earn a huge contract.

Howie could build another SB winning team and those are those who'd still say "he's not a football guy."

The Eagles record this year will have no impact, since they're committed to a rebuild (noises about being competitive are just that, watch what I do, not what I say).

What will matter is whether the past two drafts are developing into NFL players, because next year's draft is going to be a killer, 4 top 40 picks (even if the Indy pick is a 2nd, it'll likely be a high 2nd b/c if Wentz goes down, so does Indy) in a very deep draft. Look for Howie to try and garner more picks in next year's draft if possible.

Hurts could show solid development and the Eagles could still go 5-12 if the secondary implodes, look at Houston last year.

Rodgers just wants more money; he’s being a diva and when GB gives him a new contract he’ll be placated.

Did you see how Mahomes did in the Super Bowl?  Nine points behind 3/5 of his OL.  Wentz had 1/5 of his OL for half the season, and backups to the backups playing.  Goedert missed time, Ertz missed time, Reagor missed time, Alshon and Desean were stealing big salary and not playing.  Sanders is not exactly Iron Man.

Can’t believe you need to ask what gives.  No QB in the NFL could have had a decent season under those circumstances — none.

This argument applies to Hurts, too.  A rookie in one of the weirdest off seasons in NFL history.  He played with the same slop and performed at almost the same level as our 5 year franchise QB.  I personally think Wentz was shell shocked.  His mechanics had completely broken down to the point when he had time he'd miss simple throws.  His clock seemed off in part due to the poor OL play.  He got benched (rightfully so) for his piss poor play.  The second that happened he decided to move on.  He needs to look at himself, too, and not just blame the surrounding cast/staff.

I don't know if Hurts is the answer.  He's got the right attitude, is a hard worker, good locker room guy, but I'm not sure he has the ability to quickly diagnose a defense and move through progressions.  I think his arm will be adequate but it's not great.  He ran last year in part because of the piss poor OL.  Wentz probably would've too if he still had that ability.  I'm willing to give him a chance.  Dak came in with some accuracy (intermediate and long), mechanical, slow progression and pocket poise/awareness issues.  He worked hard to improve on those issues and became a franchise QB.  Not saying Hurts will follow that progression but I don't think he's finished product (I hope for the Eagles sake he's not).  I'm willing to give him more than 4 games in a weird rookie year with the same roster and coaches that made our once franchise QB look like garbage before I bury him.  Good news is if he does flop we have ammo to try and get a franchise QB.

Lions and Cowboys on Thanksgiving is a fix features as long as I can remember.  Was that a league decision from the earliest days or it just so happened?

I think there are plenty of owners out there who have say on bigger football  decisions , as in first rd picks , top free agents , coaching hires etc

i don’t think Jeff has   started any trend here

It's the same without Joe Douglas, meanwhile he's rebuilding his new team pretty well from the looks of things. The one constant? Howie. It's all we need to know. Top five pick up and coming and the NFL feels the same way by giving us only two prime time games. Dark times ahead folks.
