He'll be on the team next season and then be gone which will have made the trade worth it to get rid of that Simmons deal.

Shame they didn't include Harris and at least make it a massive salary dump

Harden has been awful. And maxey has completely disappeared. And Glenn has no clue what he is doing. All those things we can go into great depth about and deserve criticizing them to the fullest extent.

however the sixers need embiid to play better than what he has outside of game 2 and 3. If he plays closer to game 2 and 3 they can win this series. But if it’s closer to games 1, 4 and 5 we are in trouble. To point out here’s his numbers from 2019 vs. Toronto in the playoffs, 2021 playoffs and his numbers from games 1,4,5 and games 2 and 3

2019 playoffs

17.6 ppg, 37% FG, 34.6% 3pt, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 4 TOs, 2 blocks

2021 playoffs

24.6 ppg, 48%, 23.5% 3pt, 11.6, 3.8 TOs, 0.4 blocks and

games 1,4,5

20 ppg, 41% FG, 0% 3pt, 11 boards, 3 TOs, .33 blocks

games 2 and 3

32 ppg, 58% FG, 40% 3 pt, 12 boards, 5 TOs and .5 blocks.

If he plays like he has in game 1,4 and 5 the sixers have no shot at winning this series since harden is shot and we don’t know what we will get from maxey as the series has continued. We know harden is shot. Maxey is young and inconsistent. But we need embiid to play like game 2 and 3 otherwise we are in a world of trouble.

Doc and Harden are gone.

Harden is going to be part of a sign and trade,

Hopefully we can get some kind of trade compensation from the Lakers for Doc

I’m all for bashing harden. He stinks and whether he’s just cooked or it’s his hammy he’s been horrible shooting for 2 months. That said embiid went from 6:19 in the 2nd quarter to 5:21 in the 3rd quarter without scoring. He also took 2 shots in between those points. If the sixers are going to win harden must be better. But embiid can’t go 13 minutes in between scoring and then disappear only taking 2 shots in 13 mins. And this isn’t the first time he’s done this. He did so in game 4 where he had 7 points in the first half on minimal shot attempts. I believe in game 3 or 2 he had 5 points at halftime. Also embiid like everyone else on the sixers was awful on defense tonight

Game 5 vs Toronto was Atlanta 2.0

Doc Rivers can't make playoff adjustments. Didn't have his team ready for the biggest game of the year- just like last year vs Atlanta. He has to go.

Only thing i disagree with is this was worse than atlanta. At least atlanta we were up 25 and played well for a half of that game. This game the sixers were basically owned from start to finish which was a continuation of game 4.

It’s my fault guys. I was in Hershey visiting family during the first 3 games… came back home to Maine the day after game 3.

The Sixers deserved to lose so this isn’t me blaming officiating but… how many blatant push offs did Siakam get away with last night? Dude was fully extending his arm to push defenders back. Hell he did it twice in one possession.

i really think this team has tuned out doc, i dont think it's embiid and harden that sucks, it's doc because there were so  many reports of them wanting a different coach before the playoffs. i mean i believe that look how he is during the press, he assaults the fans, the media, plays favorites with different players that arent good. that really starts wearing on the team.

even when they got harden, i didnt think this team was winning anything because of doc, he's a cancer to the locker room.

Can we fire doc after they lose game 6?

Huge loser energy from the entire team after the game last night.  There is absolutely no way they win this series.  Absolutely cooked.

just accept that they're gonna lose game 7 in philly on saturday night. it will make the rest of your week much more peaceful.

At least the Flyers are gearing up for the playoffs. Oh.

At least the Phillies came out of the gate hot. Oh.

How bout that draft, huh?

Nah....Harden sucks.  It was a dumb trade.  Thank Morey for being in love with a washed up player.  We could have gotten younger and deeper.

That's what she said.

Barnes did it twice on the same dribble in the first quarter.

Didn't he sit out during that stretch?  Or part of it?   I don't remember and I can't seem to find that information.

Not just last night.  That's Siakams game.

raptors have a roster filled with long, athletic wings...the sixers don't really have anyone like that & it's a huge weakness on this team. can't defend & can't create shots.

No matter what happens with the playoffs, they need to move on from Doc. He sucks and they need a new voice/perspective from the coaching staff.

Raptors also can't shoot the 3 with Van Fleet not playing. They have until Thursday to work on the zone. They shot 23% in Game 3 and 25.8% last night.

Niang should also get zero minutes in the next game. He is getting hunted on the defensive end and only scoring 3 points won't make up for it. Play small and get Kork or Joe minutes, it's panic time and time to make some sort of adjustments.

Embiid had 6 FT's attempts last night and only 9 in the Game 3 loss, that won't cut it.

So went to nba.com they record subs in the play by play. Reed subbed in at 21 seconds left in the first. was replaced by embiid in the 2nd quarter at 8:17. And embiid wasn’t substituted out for the rest of the second quarter. After halftime, embiid wasn’t substituted until the start of the 4th where reed played the first two minutes. Then embiid was subbed out the last two minutes which accounts for the 8 minutes off the floor. So from 8:17 of the 2nd quarter til the end of the 3rd he was out there

Ugghhhh.

He's just like Maxey then.  Not good enough.  The Sixers were convinced he was ready to be the starting center, that's why they traded Drummond for Harden.

Embiid needs to step up on the defensive end….

Kind of feels like he’s worried about the thumb getting jammed if he puts his hands in there to try to block the shot.

I love maxey but he’s 21 and only played 156 mins in the playoffs before this series (averaged 13 mins and only played 20+ mins in 3 of their 12 games last year). This series he’s played 208 mins in 5 games. In the nba playoffs, if you have to rely on a 21 year old kid with little playoff experience to be the second best player and scorer then you are likely not winning an nba title. What you saw in game 1 was awesome but nick nurse adjusted and you are seeing what’s happened in a long series where he is having to learn to adjust to the adjustments. Add on harden is killing the sixers with his inability to score. And embiid has been good for 2 games and bad for 3. Last year maxey played sporadically in the postseason (Glenn is an idiot) but not consistent game to game and wasn’t a focal point.  This is really his first continuous extensive action and a coach game planning against him in a postseason series. So there’s a learning curve going on here and growing pains.

It’s why if they made the haliburton trade instead of harden (would’ve done that trade simply cause i think haliburton is eventually going to be a star), he and maxey are likely both learning on the fly and dealing with growing pains the next 2 postseasons until they are fully grown and ready. which always comes back to Joel Embiid how much time does he have left and can you afford to allow Tyrese Maxey and Haliburton to develop and grow? Long term it definitely benefitted the sixers to have a backcourt of haliburton and maxey. Short term i think the sixers are still in trouble due to lack of experience besides green, embiid and barnes (as rumored tobias would’ve been going to Sacramento)

Tbh felt this way for a while, but 2019 might have been the sixers best shot to win a title. That was their best team since embiid and Simmons began playing. after that the sixers botched moves and things deteriorated. Used cap space to sign horford which was a dumb move with their roster, didn’t offer butler a 5 year max (partially due to how he was going to age but here we are with harden same situation and he’s definitely declined) and got josh Richardson for him, forced to re-sign Harris, by not keeping butler sixers basically made it clear they choose Simmons and maxed him, hired doc rivers. That offseason was pivotal for the sixers. And nearly every move they made backfired. They have Danny green and loss of pick to show for horford signing here.
