Reading the Saints may be better than what people originally thought. Didn't look into why, just something I read in a few places.

They added two of the best S and Landry and quality veteran WR.

If that is the case, we trade back and draft Wyatt. Not a huge step back from Davis. He is not as good against the run, but much better against the pass.

You’re missing on the NT. More than quality of player….Gannon needed this piece to run his defense.

Do we really know what Gannon wanted? Just sometimes I would like to see things play out rather than trading up two spots, giving up 3 additional picks.... Maybe it does not work out, but I would love to know what would have happened. Only 1 NT in that draft?

It's not all about this yr either. Who would take Cox's place? I'm more than happy w/ what HR did.

Hamilton could have went to Houston.  Let's not forget that.   Without the trade we probably miss out on both guys.

True, but if Houston really wanted Hamilton, I would have thought they would just take him and not trade the pick.

He drafted Tuipolotu hoping to develop him. Seems pretty clear that Gannon was craving a NT and LBs to switch to 3-4.

I am not upset with the draft. There were other DT's available later on and there is next year also. I was just throwing out another possibility....

The biggest rumor going into the draft was we were trading up for Davis

Another rumor was the Ravens wanted him. Davis was considered by some to be the best. Grabbing one next yr we would have had to start a rookie or spend cap. Davis gets to learn beside Cox

He’s going to allow Gannon to run his scheme and playcalls. We weren’t good against the run last year. Hargrave was terrible. D didn’t look good. Feels like having a NT in the middle will allow Gannon to do more things he would prefer everywhere else. It was the most important need. So feels like we drafted for positional need…..more than BPA.

Can't believe we're still talking about this. Personally I hope Hurts improves or Strong turns out to be the steal some thing, then we have 2 firsts to play w/

And we will see.   Always can criticize what you " DON’T " do in the draft because there are more of those options.    Also... it seems 3-4 D is the preference... you need a NT for that.

Yes....they wanted one of Davis or Hamilton ( according to all the sources that reported on this )   they were 3rd in line.  The trade with Tennessee was already 99% done... so it had to be 4th rounders thrown in.

Lol... they preferred the trade.   Without a trade option it comes down to which player you want.   In that case it was probably Davis or Hamilton...then Baltimore takes the other guy.

Correct....the draft trades are supposed to give you options.    But I can't for the life of me see where someone would complain about the Saints trade...

For swapping this year for next year ( before selecting Dean with pick 83)

1. we got a 3rd and 7th this year ...for a 6th

2. We got pick 18 for pick 19

3.  We got 2024 2nd round pick

As it turned out we traded that 3rd round pick, without that it would have cost us the pick we used for Dean to get AJ Brown.     In the aftermath,  the trade looks even better.

Do we go 3-4? If so, then we will have more additions to account for. All of these linebacker additions leads me to believe we may be switching. At least use different looks.......

I still believe we will be a multiple front D see 43 looks and 34 looks

Easy way to look at Saints trade is they gave up a 3rd to move up from 18 to 16. Gave us a 2024 2nd round pick plus 2023 first round pick for 19.

The rest of everything they gave up was for pick 16.

No but I have always valued getting your guys more then waiting and settling.

Clearly we were extremely high on Davis and wanted to make sure we got him in ok with that feel much better about that then sitting and just picking whoever is available no guarantee we would have even took Hamilton if he was sitting there for us to take no clue how we valued him

Considering these two 4-3 packages and how they can be blended with 3-4

  • Gaps are the space between the offensive lineman. ...
  • 0 Technique: Head-Up The Center.
  • 2 Technique: Head-Up The Guard.
  • 4 Technique: Head-Up The Tackle.
  • 1 Technique: Outside Shoulder Of The Center.
  • 3 Technique: Outside Shoulder Of The Guard.

Just so we are all on the same page with terminologies.
