He's not Mahomes.  Not many are.  So, I'm not going to compare him to Mahomes.  The play was there to be made, with Hurts, with Hurts' arm.  Hurts just didn't release the ball when he needed to.  He took at least two more steps and a crow hop that made the ball come out very late.

I don't think that anyone would argue that Hurts has an arm even remotely close to Mahomes.

Yes. Hurts has to compensate for what he has. Speed up the processing. Clean up the mechanics.

Every rookie has those moments... but yeah, those last two plays were bad for Jackson.   Something to be learned for sure.    I like Jackson a little bit.   He'll get better.

Poor Trent, what a phenomenal player with a career wasted in the ultimate wasteland of NFL franchises.

Is anyone arguing that Hurts has the arm strength to make Mahomes-like throws?

Mahomes is a freak who can make any throw from any arm angle or platform. Like, an unprecedented freak of nature throwing the ball. Hurts will never be on the same level as Mahomes in terms of arm strength and everybody knows that.

4:20 mark of this video.  Minshew throws this ball 52 yards rolling right with no set up.  He gets it to the receiver, even though it was slightly under thrown  ecause he knows the ball has to be out immediately when he sees it.  This is what Hurst needed to do on the throw to Smith.

Edited to add @Iggles_Phan, @TorontoEagle and @ManuManu, look at the Minshew throw at the 5:30 mark.  Looks like he is going deep up the sideline as he is winding up, then throws an absolute dart right up the hash marks.

Another great throw at 6:30, play action, sets, ball is gone.

8:05, steps up, sets up again quickly and a dime right up the hash marks.

Gardner Minshew really does throw the ball very well.

Here is a good example @Iggles_Phan and @greend, 1:55 mark of this video.

50 yard throw that is all arm.  Jalen Hurts would have to set up and have his base perfect to throw this ball, and would have been sacked setting up.

The next throw in the video shows the same thing, 60 yard throw on the move with no set up.

I think this is his best throw so far even though it wasn't caught. It's just insane how he was able to do this

What's more eye opening in that sequence is Singleton getting manhandled by a WR as well as swallowed up by Williams.  We really need better LB.

Singleton... :lol:.  I remember when people were talking him up like he was a legit starting LB this summer.   Good times.

You're not getting it, either.

I'm not ignoring his running. I'm saying that if you need to compile all of his stats as the only way for him to appear better than a third string QB, that's not a convincing argument.

3rd string? thats harsh. And absurd. Using hyperbole is an act of desperation and also not a convincing argument.

I never really understood the hype.  Wilson isn't good either.  It's laughable that they were trying to sell us on the fact that they had too many LB and might have had to trade some of them.

@downundermike

Why exactly is Hurts held by you to this unrealistic expectation of perfection?  Looking at the other young year 1 and 2 QBs in this league, Hurts in only his 6th start is playing among the best of them, if not at the highest level of any of them this season.

Herbert (17 starts) : 1-1, 70.5%, 675 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT, 86.1 QB rating, 8 rush yards and 0 rushing TDs.

Burrow (12 starts): 1-1, 68.4%, 468 yards, 4 TD, 3 INT, 94.8 QB rating, 2 rush yards and 0 rushing TDs.

Tua (11 starts): 1-1, 54.8%, 215 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 74.0 QB rating, 4 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD.

Hurts (6 starts): 1-1, 67.2%, 454 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 108.0 QB rating, 144 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD.

Wilson (2 starts): 0-2, 55.7%, 468 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT, 56.1 QB rating, 19 rushing yards and 0 rushing TDs.

Jones (2 starts): 1-1, 73.9%, 467 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 96.7 QB rating, 0 rushing yards and 0 rushing TDs.

Lawrence (2 starts): 0-2, 50.0%, 450 yards, 4 TD, 5 INT, 57.1 QB rating, 19 rushing yards and 0 rushing TDs.

Fields (0 starts): 53.3%, 70 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 38.2 QB rating, 34 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD.

I mean, he's literally our third string QB, but okay.

So are you talking about Minshew or Hurts? Because I've been talking about Hurts

I’m interested to see how Hurts does against the Cowboys compared to how Herbert did. I’ve heard a lot of hype for Herbert this week.

Carson shouldn't play this week with 2 bad ankles. If he plays, he's definitely getting hurt worse.

I think the main issue with Hurts vs DAL last year were the 2 INT and 2 fumbles.  If he can put up a clean line and get a win that will show improvement.

It didn’t help the defense got destroyed last year on deep passes either. We were trying to force big plays after that.

Another throw Jalen Hurts would not make, would run and not get a first down.  5:40 mark, Minshew realizes he is about to be sacked in the endzone and throws a dart up the middle of the field for a first down.

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles - 26

Turds - 23

Bonus: Hurts hits Goedert down the middle for a 30+ yd gain

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 38

Cowboys 27

Bonus: Cowboys suck.

Not buying that. It's an easy out for coaches.

Well seeing as you are using the it is only his 6th start argument, in his second season, I disqualified the rookies who have 2 or less starts in their first season.

Tua sucks, never been impressed, and thought he was a second rounder at best.

So you are left with Burrow and Herbert.  No one is taking Hurts over Herbert, ever.  You wanna compare Herbert's first 6 starts to Hurts statistically ??
