Where do you stand on QB for 2022

  1. 1. What would you do at QB in 2022

    • Hurts is the guy in 2022 and beyond - I'm convinced.
      13
    • Roll with Hurts in 2022 with Minshew as back-up - see how it plays out.
      103
    • Should be open competition between Hurts and Minshew in TC
      30
    • Minshew should start
      12
    • Trade for Deshaun Watson
      9
    • Trade for Russell Wilson
      9
    • Trade for Aaron Rodgers
      5
    • Trade up in first to get a QB (say who in the comments)
      2
    • Stay put in first to get a QB (say who in comments)
      8
    • Trade a low rounder for Kirk Cousins
      2
    • Sign Teddy Bridgewater

    • Sign another free agent to compete with Hurts/Minshew (say who in comments)

Not really. I read that Trubisky was on the rebound as backup in Buffalo and would get another shot this year.

What I want is:

1) WATSON: Watson rejects the Eagles this week. Eagles have contacted Texans and are trying to get into the mix.

2) HURTS: Trade Jalen Hurts during the draft. He's horrible past 3 yards or something like that, does not go through progressions, and can't read a defense.

3) DRAFT QB: Draft a QB in first / second round. Don't spend 3 picks to get a QB.

4) DRAFT PICKS: Use all available draft picks this year to fix team now. We stink. Don't defer picks.

5) MINSHEW: Start Gardner Minshew for now.

Or

1) WATSON: Watson gets traded to Eagles for 3 first round picks plus. Texans are greedy. (Maybe the best move is to walk away. Don't get fleeced.)

2) HURTS: Trade Jalen Hurts. He's horrible, etc.

3) DRAFT QB: Essentially, we are drafting Watson with our 3 picks in the first round.

4) DRAFT PICKS: Our first pick will be in the second round? Maybe we get a second rounder for Hurts. Hope for good talent evaluation this year. Reality check: We stink. We need more talent.

5) MINSHEW: If we get Watson, we can trade Minshew too. Don't care who the backup is. Go get Kaepernick for next to nothing. Trade for Nick Foles.

AND

Q1: CAP: How does Watson fit under this cap?

Q2: GAROPPOLO: Supposed price 49ers want is a second round pick. Is he next on the Eagles radar?

NOTE1: As of 3/15, Texans have approved trades with NO, CAR, CLE, ATL, allowing Watson to pick his destination. PHI and SEA not in mix right now.

NOTE2: Indy might be in on Garoppolo. Garoppolo market will heat up after Watson trade finalized.

Per Philly Inquirer:  "Eagles free agency updates: Philly reportedly out on Deshaun Watson trade; new OT rule proposed"

"No reason to check in. Nothing to see here. We can move on," ESPN's Adam Schefter said of the Eagles' interest in Watson.

I'll wait until Watson gets traded before officially moving on from the possibility of Howie making a deal..

After careful evaluation, we need a QB.  Ours stinks.

Might as well move on from crying like babies over the quarterback. You’re not getting anyone else. Time to focus on the draft.

Watson gone to Cleveland.

Garoppolo market will probably heat up next.

Not seeing any stories linking Eagles to Garoppolo.

Time to focus on getting a QB in the draft.

If they draft someone it’s highly unlikely he plays in 2022 anyway.

Baker Mayfield market looks like its heating up before Garoppolo.

Maybe Seattle and Indy in on Baker Mayfield.

Seattle drafts before the Eagles,

But one article said that Baker Mayfield may be one year solution.

So, Seattle could trade for Mayfield and still draft a QB in front of us.

None of the above. Eagles need to position themselves for a QB in 2023 (preferably Bryce Young). Clearly no one is sold on Hurts as franchise QB

Too early to call.  I don't think loads of people were saying in March of 2019 to draft Joe Burrow.  He almost came out of nowhere to be the consensus #1 QB in the draft.  Perhaps another QB pulls a 'Burrow' in 2022?  Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Young.  Sure, he put up great stats, but he has elite talent all around him at WR, RB, and OL.  And he's only 6' 194.  Look how Kyler Murray gets worn down over the season and hasn't been as good in the 2nd half of the season as the first half.  I think it'll take him a while to transition to the NFL.  I'm willing to wait and see if any QBs take that next step in 2022 and look like they're ready to make the jump to the NFL.  I think there's a bit more depth in the 2023 draft class, but still with no current sure-fire-can't miss talents at the moment.  Hopefully at least 2-3 of them make their case that they can be a NFL level starters and we'll have to do what it takes to draft one.

If the Eagles draft a QB this year it will be a late round developmental project.  This draft class is universally regarded as weak at QB but deep overall, particularly with EDGE rushers.  With their draft capital it's a great year to build a young, talented foundation and address the QB situation next season.  If you believe what Howie says about Hurts, that's exactly what they plan to do.

Reaching for a QB in the early rounds this year would be...a reach.

The way things are going, teams are just going to play musical chairs at QB.  "Ok, every team hand your QB to the team on your left."

ATL Falcons traded QB Matt Ryan to IND Colts for 3rd rounder.

ATL drafts at #8 in the first round.

And ATL just signed Marcus Mariota to 2 year contract.

So they have their backup now.

Did you see the Commanders OC and QB Coach on that list for the Kenny Pickett pro day workout?

Carson Wentz isn't gonna like that.

This will put him in a pout

And, probably mess up his mechanics.

Note1: Uh, oh, Pickett fans. Handful of teams that select in the first round before the Eagles.

Yes. The Eagles took Carson Wentz to dinner.

Not sure about the Commanders.

The coach, the GM, and owner took Wentz to dinner. The Eagles QB coach took Pickett. Deflection move here. If the Eagles are actually interested in a quarterback in this draft I don’t think it’s tiny hands.

The question is: Did the Eagles meet with any other QBs? Who else did they take to dinner?

Howie is in position to trade up for Pickett. I bet he'll burn all 3 first round picks.

I'd rather we wait to see what comes to us.

Maybe Pickett, Corral, and Willis are gone.

So be it. Then we draft some defenders.

But, Howie will do something funny. He's unpredictable.
