I can totally see a scenario where Jurgens becomes a beast at G, like Dickerson, and we have to pick another Center next year.

Imagine the TATE meltdown lol.

Biggest non Eagles shock of the night…with a WR depth chart looking like this:

D11E8CA5-EB61-401C-AC79-DD49BC8AA334.png

They pass on great WR prospects for secondary and draft…a return specialist as their first offensive pick. Really setting Fields up to fail.

I watched him the other night. For a guy with a ton of interceptions, they were really unimpressive. Tipped passes and awful overthrows. I expected better.

Hmm. Do we have a moldy ham sandwich in the back of the fridge at Novacare?

What don’t you like.  Top 25 in league in tackles last year and big time hitter

He can’t cover, and has a lot of coverage busts to boot.

Some other shockers from today:

the Niners taking two RBs last year, and another one on day 2 this year.

the Patriots reaaaaaaaches.

the Colts going for the all time record for total weight of their starting 3WR/1TE set skill players.

Only 1 QB taken in R1 and R2.

Here's hoping Ridder and Corral are stud QBs for their team, it will take ATL and CAR out of the running for 2023 QBs,

I hope not. I want Atlanta and Carolina out of the QB sweepstakes next year.

I saw Marinaro play against Penn at Franklin Field.

@FranklinFldEBUpper

Was that the game he rushed for over 200 yards? The story I heard was that he wasn't feeling well that day and was hoping to sit out. And he saw a sign at the stadium that said STOP THE WHOP. He was so infuriated that he had the game of his career.

I really like this draft so far. Volume of picks is the one negative but I feel really good about what we did get. New players are always a projection but in Davis, A.J. Brown, Jurgens and Dean, it feels like we have a really high probability of having 3 or 4 starters in 2 years. And all with great character and really high ceilings too. So I think we have less shots as it stands but each of the shots we do have feel like really high probability shots.

In the presser, Howie mentioned it's the best UDFA class maybe ever. That could be one useful mitigation if we're a bit down on volume. He said there will be a lot of players with draftable grades. I would still like to trade some players for more picks though.

I'm thrilled with this draft so far. I don't care if none of them start this year, we aren't winning anything this year. This year we see what Hurts really is, and next year we either still have him because he improved or we get a QB and plug him into a team with established talent.

That said, I'd love if they found a way to draft Carson Strong. Gotta keep the factory open

I was listening to the draft on NFL Radio while working and when the Nakobe Dean pick was announced they reported it was discovered he had a torn pec and would likely be out for the season.  I went into Round 2 thinking the Eagles might draft Ojabo in Round 2 and was okay with it considering the long view and the talent.  I decided the same thing about Dean.

Now to get home and read that Dean won’t miss any time at all?  Man, if he stays healthy he could be a fantastic pick at #83.  I didn’t like his game film enough to spend a first round pick on him, but 3rd round pick?  Heck yes.

When I was reading the posts in the Master of the Draft thread this morning I was chuckling aloud at the folks who had Nakobe Dean on their list, thinking to myself "He’s not making it to #51”

Pretty happy to land him at #83 overall.  He reminds me of the Dickerson pick — big time leader at a big time program.

Howie was absolutely giddy in the press conference tonight. I haven't seen him look so happy since winning the Super Bowl. Sirianni's coming out of his shell too.

Boy you can see in that presser that Howie and Sirianni really get along well.

Dean ranked 17th on Daniel Jeremiah's big board and 21st on mine, so the value here is pretty self-explanatory. The Eagles are a great fit for the linebacker, who could've easily been a first-round selection if not for injury concerns. The former Bulldog's forecast for executing blitz concepts is strong, and he ranks in the 87th percentile among prospects in terms of breaking blocks and pursuit speed, especially in the middle of the field, per computer vision. Dean allowed the fewest yards per target (3.5) among FBS linebackers last season, helping him to earn PFF's highest grade among linebackers (91.8).

On basis alone it has to be though, right? I thought 2013 was bad, but this one turned out way worse.

I will somehow purchase and wear my lost bet avatar outfit and walk around at Broad and Girard if that happens (please someone find my corpse and delete my browser history). The Ravens could be ripe for the picking though after the Hollywood trade and having 22 4th round picks…

Wake up Howie - time to deal the trade bait. I will be disappointed if at least one player doesn’t get moved.

Howie...

It was between Jurgens and Dean in the second round.

No surgery scheduled for Dean.

Classic Howie line.
