There was no reason to go 7 with Nola. I don’t believe for a second Atlanta was going 6 years. They haven’t even gone more than four years with their own free agents who had similar WAR to Nola. They probably gave him 2 years that were team option years that they were never picking up unless Nola was great. And the Phillies were just like we’re gonna give you seven.

They got a hard on for him retiring a phillie even though his career was never that great here. He’s had some good years EARLY but that’s it. Saturday at 07:59 AM5 days Nola as a 5th starter is a minor upgrade over the last few years. Yes he sucks royally but I can live with him as the 5th guy. Painter and Luzardo need to get the job done if this team is going to move beyond .500 and be able to challenge for a playoff spot. Wild card is certainly very doable now if they play well.
