He's a couple months into rookie year, so it's most likely a function of playing tight and not relaxing enough to be instinctive off the bat. That said...of all the competitive responsibilities of professional athletes ascending to the big leagues...hitting, pitching, route running, progressions, NBA passing/defense....playing outfield is one of those things that is a pretty similar experience whether you are in college, A-ball, or the majors. So it's a bit unusual.

If I remember correctly, they didn’t transition him to centerfield until late in his minor league career. They should’ve had him playing centerfield to consistently throughout. I think they thought that Rojas was gonna be their centerfielder so they really didn’t plug them in there to start. And then when that didn’t happen, then they kind of switched them into centerfield. He should’ve been playing centerfield from the day. CF should be his best position based off his speed when drafted

I brought up at the time, anything over four years with an option year for a fifth was a mistake. That they should’ve just went after Blake snell, overpaid for a short contract. whether he imploded in Philly or not did it matter cause you were only gonna be in it for 2 or possibly 3-year contract. So you were gonna be out of it sooner rather than later and you wouldn’t be tied up in money.

I still don’t believe the report that the Braves were gonna go six years. I am guessing based off how the Braves track record is with their own guys that they were probably going four years and the last two years were team option years that they were never gonna pick up unless he was incredible. And the Phillies just gave him seven as they were dumb

Also, we are going to waste a top 10 hitting years for Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber because the rest of this lineup is not very good around them. add on besides Sanchez and wheeler not sure the other guys are capable of consistency

Nola is a lost cause. This is now the second year in a row. He’s had the same problem. His stuff is not nearly as good even if it’s only lost a little bit of velocity. He also has a ton of innings on his arm. So when people started to say oh well, he doesn’t really use stuff. He’ll be fine. I call BS. When you have that many innings, it’s eventually going to catch up to you. The sad reality is as soon as they sign that seven year contract. It was a mistake. At least if it was five years, you’d be two years left on it. And you could just eat one of the years. With four years left you can’t.

As bad as Andrew painter has also been, there’s at least hope. He’s young and he’s learning. And his stuff is still good. He just needs to get his command back.

Him and schwarber are incredible this year. Credit to Dombrowski for pissing off Bryce Harper enough to play like tjis. That’s like the only movie he’s made this off-season that has actually worked out.

Like I said, his command is the biggest issue right now. Cause you can see his stuff can be real good if his command is really good. When he came out of high school it was his biggest problem . He just has always had the stuff. So when the Phillies botched his Tommy John surgery timeline, he basically missed two years and didn’t get to work on it. When you don’t do something for two years and you struggled with it prior to getting into the system, it’s gonna hurt you. then you put him on an innings restriction last year so we didn’t really get enough time to work on it and he was in the minors working with coaches that aren’t very good.

To me his command is an issue right now because the Phillies botched his timeline with his Tommy John surgery. If you would’ve just had it in March 2023, he would’ve been back around July 2024 and got three months of work. then 2025 had a full year. He’d be much further in terms of having better command than he does right now.

Man, everyone who turned off this game in the early innings missed out on one of the better offensive performances I've seen from the Phillies this year.

I said before dd pissed him off that I thought Harper had at least 2 more elite seasons in him. He is doing exactly what he said he was going to do chase less walk more . Now he is raking with no help behind him proving a point that if they gave him someone worth a damn behind him they would be in much better position

I have the ticker on the home screen of my phone so I kept watching the score get closer and closer. Once it hit 8-7 I turned it back on. Let's see if orion can hold on here
